I love this movie. I still cry every time I see it. Hell, I've got the soundtrack! Debbie Allen did a tremendous job directing this movie. TREMENDOUS! The casting and acting was stellar. The score EXCEPTIONAL. Don't even get me started on the choreography...by none other than her highness Debbie Allen! Phylicia Rashad is the most beautiful, talented, and graceful of any actress to grace a stage and screen. Period. In my lifetime I would love nothing more than see her and Meryl Streep as leads in a movie together. My two favs. Thanks so much for posting this!
This was the Last movie for Butterfly McQueen. (Church lady at the piano.) She won acclaim for her role in Gone with the Wind. Mrs. McQueen passed away a few months after this movie was released. 💜🤗🦋👑☺️
My mom recorded this onto a VHS when it first came out. I watched this tape so many times it wore out and so being able to watch it again is amazing. THANK YOU!!! I have discovered you can get it through the Disney Movie Club though, otherwise, its all secondhand.
My mom was very sick when she saw this movie. Whenever she saw this part of the movie it always inspired her to try and walk. My mom passed away in 2001, 2 days after my birthday, but every time I see this part I always cried because it reminds me so much of my mom.
@@OldSchoolHead1990 You're welcome. I guess the saying isn't true, "Time Heals All Wounds." I can look at a picture of my mom and start crying. It's going on 22 years since she's been gone.
The ending, with the soul touching music and the ending message had me crying the first time I watched in the 80s, the numerous times I rewatched my VCR recordings in the 90s, and even right now on RUclips. Every damn time. 😭😭
Unlike many remake of older movies, this one ver just as great as the original from almost 3 decades earlier. This was all around VERY WELL cast, directed abd performed every bit as good as "pollyanna" was. It was great to see Phylissa Rashad and Kisha Pulium acting together.
Wow...you and I have the SAME problem! for YEARS, even as a little girl, EVERY TIME 11:32 came up...someone just HAD 2 be cutting onions around me! Ain't THAT a coincidence???? EVERYTHING about that scene just does something 2 me.
My mom recorded this movie when it was first broadcast in '89 and I fell in love with it. I probably wore the tape out. I am so glad and appreciative that you posted this beautiful movie!
Thankyou so much for sharing this! My mum recorded it off the tv when I was little and I watched it loads. I’ve been wanting to watch it again for years and delighted to have found it here. Such a joy to watch again and a beautiful ending. ❤️
The last scene give me chills and brings tears to my eyes. Yep, I'm a guy and in my adulthood, I see this so differently now. Kudos for sharing. Where can I purchase a copy this clear?

I love this movie, that scene was a tear jerker. Also the ending song is similar to the theme song on the women of brewsters place check it out /watch?v=vZ7gI7_mJeA

Mind to I cry every time
2019 and I still can't watch this without tears. If this ending doesn't move you..check ya pulse..
Im crying so hard right now. Oh my god this film touched me so much.
I cried so hard at this scene, Polly fell from the tree and was paralyzed from the waist down
I cried at the end... Cutting that ribbon meant bringing unity. If we could really live like this. the world would be a beautiful place.
I was 16 when this movie came out and I remember cryin when this particular scene came on

Good movie! I had forgotten that Polly was paralyzed at the end. So nice to Phylicia Rashad, Brandon Adams, Celeste Holm and Keisha Knight Pulliam.
But she recovered from her accident in the 1990 sequel “Polly: Coming Home”

This was just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have the sequel?
Not yet. But, when I get it I will post it.
i really dnt remember that part
5:30 The p-word that the doctor used, I'm guessing it's offensive, but what does it mean?
It was a nick-name for little black children way back in the day.
tosha f more like a black slur. That is not to be repeated.
Post the second one someone 2
so do you have the sequel now? lol :)
Does this have a soundtrack
11:49 just took me out of here
Does anyone know the name to the ending song? I've been looking everywhere for it:') it's beautiful
Amber Jones it's another song in this movie called stand up
actually it's a melody of all the songs
I am 12 and I love this movie I just busted out in reared when hurt her self to the end
what did they say that omg
To this day, I can't stand the scene when she falls.
what is a pickaney?
Black slur. Just don’t repeat it. EVER.
I don't have it sweetie. Sorry.
Pickaninny is a slur. It referred to children of black descent.
They should've made a sequel of the original "Pollyanna" with Hayley Mills!
This is the African American version of "Pollyanna".
It was her Aunt Polly fault she should had just let her go 🤷🤦
OMG I cried like a b*tch. You are know my most favoritiest person in the world (please dont tell my son and husband)
Wat?
