Dr. Warren Farrell is an American educator, activist and author of seven books on men's and women's issues., including the international bestsellers, Why Men Are the Way they Are, plus The Myth of Male Power. He is the only man in the U.S. to be elected three times to the Board of the National Organization for Women in NYC. and he is Chair of the Commission to Create a White House Council on Boys and Men. Warren has appeared on more than 1000 TV and radio shows, including numerous “ratings periods” for Oprah. GQ calls him (2015) the Martin Luther King of the men’s movement. Warren is currently co-authoring with John Gray the forthcoming The Boy Crisis.

But, I've been to places in this world where men and women work together for survival. Funny enough, these people had less access to education, and yet knew more about why their lives were so bad. They knew that its was the corruption of the elite. The irony is, they are probably smarter since they dont have TV and internet access, and thus lack a constant stream of mind control attempts.
History seems to repeat itself.
The poor white man, controlled and abused by the 1% elite, blames his problems on blacks.
The disenfranchised man, burdened by society, blames his problems on women.
The elite, stand back and laugh, their greed & mass manipulation never recognized at all. Mission accomplished: A scapegoat found, the puppets now have a false enemy. I guess fluoride IS really dumbing down the masses after all.
And women not having every last one of their hearts contradictory desires fulfilled is blamed on men.

My Dad came back into my life when I was 9.
The immediate result was I stopped getting bullied
coz he encouraged me to stand up to bullies and some
boxing so I could fight back.
I also got better at sports, art and socialising
I wouldn't be the tough guy I am today If he never returned.
I also vowed that I will never have kids If I'm not there to see them grow up.

sorry to necro this comment, but I was in that same position a few years ago. This was before I realized that as a man, you need to look out for yourself because nobody is going to give you any special consideration, unlike women. I went to my country's military university studying aerospace engineering and am now an officer. Things get better. MGTOW.

When I did an internship at a primary school I worked with a class with 16 girls and 4 boys. These boys had never had a male teacher and I noticed that 2 of them were feared as bullies and the other two were very quiet and lacked in social skills. After about a month of being at that school I started to get some janitorial jobs, fixing lamps, cleaning up the play area, fixing cupboards etc. So I started asking these boys for help and telling them we were going to do some manly things. They were overjoyed to have an activity only for them and with a male teacher and at the end of the year their own teacher had noticed their growth and told them she noticed it. I like to believe that those boys went to high school with a lot more self confidence
Unfortunately, in modern society, no one really seems to care for boy's/men's issues. Of course I don't mean it's true in all cases but generally. Unfortunately, I'm quite sure even if things get worse society will still not change.

I have baby brothers and a few nephews. I really wish I could give them something but I appeal to my uncles to help them figure out how to be a man. I'm researching stuff for my baby sisters and my niece but I'll just be a listening ear for the boys.
@John Smith I think you might be missing my point (or maybe I should have put quotation marks around manly things). The point was not to deprave the girls from a learning experience. The point was to uplift 4 boys who were lacking behind. Lifting up some people doesn't put others down.
As a male elementary school teacher, none of this surprises me. After 22 years of teaching, I've been saying this for two decades. We've raised two generations of girls. There are only four male teachers in my school--three are special area teachers (art, P.E. and band) and only ONE is a homeroom teacher. The rest of the staff, including administrators and educational assistants are all female. Our boys are out of control. No direction, no respect for themselves are adults. It's heartbreaking.
When I was in the 3rd grade, I had my first male teacher. It was absolutely huge for me as a boy. I could look to my teacher as someone to model myself after. He also understood a lot of the playful competition that boys do with each other and did not punish us for it. That was the first year in my schooling where I felt like I could be myself. Today's boys not having a male homeroom seems like a hug opportunity wasted.
I didn’t have any male figures in my life and I almost killed myself.
@@seanfinn1046 when I was teaching, I often felt like some of the friendly wrestling and risky play like climbing trees were really healthy, but I felt I had to stop them in case it left us open to a lawsuit. :(
I went to a boys-only school with only male teachers (in the UK). There was only one teacher I liked and none of the male teachers had personal qualities I wanted to emulate. I actually wish we'd had some female teachers. And it would have been nice to have some female pupils too!
Excuse me but if you did some research it's usually the MOTHERS who discipline the children in the home , usually because men are out working and not there as much. I think time has proved that we have made a bloody good job of it,even when mother's have been working as well. So don't blame the female teachers for what is going on in your school.

Actually, to prevent that great of a percentage of crime, we'd have to address poverty. The stats on 2-parent households versus single-parent households are pretty solid, but the most responsible studies suggest the genders of those 2 parents don't really matter.

My father was so macho, he easily intimidated anyone with his ideal of what a man should be. I was sensitive and intellectual and to my shock, he recommended (even pushed) that I take up nursing. He could see beyond himself and see me, as I was always a nurturing, caring, and helpful boy. I never really gave him enough credit for his empathy.

As a mexican white boy, I was raised by "short-fused" mother, uncle and grandma.
That's all the "father" figure that I needed, but my lineage is one from failed relationships and women rising children by their own.
I am the last children of that linage. I want to be the thing my family lacked for generations: A FATHER.

Here how it resonates to my personal experience:
My son was an average student during the Elementary School. He mentioned hated going to school as it never resonated to his needs and interests. We were told to have him checked for ADHD, since he hardly followed the crowd during the classroom.
Step forward grade 6... I see him more involved in school activities, spending more time doing homework or reading and less playing video games; and all these w/o being told to do so. High grades followed, with the lowest being a B+, so far...
My daughter who always was an excellent student, 1 year older than him, tells me he's asking her way more questions about school activities and subjects. Again, all by himself.
It was a complete surprise to me when he told me he enjoys going to school now.
The reason?! He's got his first male teacher that actually listen to him and never pretends he's non existent during the classroom. So...

I had that happen too. My first male teacher was in 6th grade and it was unreal the experience. I'm pretty sure it kicked off my love for math. It's so sad that this is the reality we are all facing.

I'm one of only two male teachers in an elementary school. The female teachers complain almost solely about the problems of boys. Even in faculty meetings. They wonder why I don't have the same problems with the boys, but they'll never listen to how my approach is different, and they always just say, "it's because you're a man."
So, yeah, I agree with his statement about the feminization of education.
Yes, male teachers are always saviours for boys. Girls always compain that they need female presence for expressing themselves more but they don't think reciprocally.
I remember all my female teachers siding girls and saying stuff like "we (girls) know girls are better than boys" and defend girls for some actions. As students we couldn't respond and we didnt knew how to respond. But our male teachers will always roast the female teachers and it just felt like an angel came to save boys, making us wonder, "why girls hate boys?" (Because they were laughing at us always). But now I realise that I got that view from my female teachers, and now I know girls dont hate boys.
My mother in law came from a family of girls. She had 3 daughters and no boys. She has 2 grandsons now. My nephews are drawn to me because I'm a traditional man and I had a great Dad. The MIL asked me what my trick is. I told her "I treat them like boys should be treated". Sadly neither my wife nor I could have kids. I try to be a darn good uncle though.
I love how he empowers men to go into traditionally "female" professions, such as nurse, caregiver and teacher. We need more empathetic men in these positions.
I had the opportunity to be a teacher, but chose to transfer to CS instead. Adults around me in my childhood always emphasized getting a high-paying job.
That sounds weak af.
If teachers were paid fair salaries (higher), judged on performance, and it was a more respected profession....then we'd get more male teachers (which would be wonderful for kids).

The emergency room nurse that treated me when I blew my patella tendon was a man. Awesome dude, super professional, empathetic, comforting, and very funny. I left feeling like I had a new buddy.
I'm 19 at the time of this post and in high school I had an English class in my freshman year composed of 28 students, 6 were boys, the rest girls. my teacher was a woman and always gave us material to read pertaining to social injustices towards women. I didn't think much of it as I was brought up being told that men and woman were equal. however oddly enough all 6 boys sat in one group in the corner of the class and we all had near failing grades. she was always eager to hear the girls speak out their opinions but always criticized a boys opinion. as a result all us boys grew to hate her as a teacher and all the girls likes her. makes me wonder if any of my other female teachers ever showed preferable treatment towards girls. anyone else have a similar experience?
Adrian Diaz dude I had the SAME experience in a sociology class I had! There were roughly 25-30 kids in the class and there were 4 boys. All the class was about was general things and injustices towards women. Nothing about boys whatsoever. The boys had poorer grades than the girls, as I oversaw in the way the teacher handed back assignments, ugh... I’m so glad I’m out of that class. I hope others don’t experience it or at least try to do something about it.
@@Nillowo I'm in that same situation...except I found a trick to the whole thing...say one thing to the class, and write another thing on the paper. Say what they don't want to hear but write what only the teacher will see...
It happens quite often I imagine. I remember one time in like 5th grade my friends and I had to do an improvised presentation for our music class and we talked about musics importance and why the class should be kept in school, because at that time our school system was about to get rid of the class along with many others. The group of girls that presented after us literally did acrobatics for a minute with no spoken words and the teacher gave them a high mark while we got an average one. It didn't ruin my academic career but it's an example of the hypocrisy and favoritism that teachers exhibit

Happens all the time and administrators do nothing about it.
I remember in my schooling the past decade. My school would have “girls only” study events and networking field trips....the boys were expected to do everything by themselves. This was 2013-2017 mind you.
My middle school brought all the girls to university one day to sit in on classes to encourage them.

Nothing, they simply ignored me. I knew our society had a problem at that moment. When your own government organizations are sexist (against males), they don't stand a chance.

These programs are there to encourage women into fields they feel traditionally locked out of or not as encouraged in as men. The funding for them usually comes from programs to encourage women to go into tech fields. Men dont have those programs bc these tech fields are already FULL of men.
I hate how all boys are just expected to be strong and capable of sustaining any form of physical pain. In my school, my maths teacher would always hit and pinch boys as a "joke", and she made fun of me when I said that it hurt when she pinched my ear

@Ken Reyes When I was about 8 after leaving the class I don't know what provoked it or what I said to her but I only remember that she picked me up by the neck and slammed me against the wall a couple times. That happened in front of my entire class. I didn't even cry I was just so shocked I didn't know what to think and on my way home two girls that saw this told me to tell someone, even they were shocked looking back on it.
I never told anyone tho, I don't know why but I never did. I just didn't think I was supposed to.
For context, this happened around 2003 so times were a bit different back then...

As a boy who grew up without a father, this instantly made me cry. I remember having so many difficulties stemming from this fact, but never realized how big of a positive impact having great male teachers had on me. I can be thankful for that. Let's applaud those male teachers instead of bashing feminism.

When i was like 20, a young computer guy, I worked for a couple of months in a primary school in their computer lab. I wasn't even a teacher. I was one of the only men in the school and all these kids (girls and boys) wanted to come and hang out in the computer lab with me at recess and lunch. One little girl asked if I could be her Dad.
bro you're inspiring me to be an intern there, I also do remember myself that there were almost no masculine men(amongst the very few) in my primary school when I was little. maybe become a pe teacher for little kids and teach them how to be jacked. awesome!
That is so sad but also beautiful. So sad that these children had no male role models in their lives that they could trust and that one girl especially really needed one. Beautiful that you did your best in any case and shows how innocent those children were and how much they wanted a father-figure in their lives.

when i went primary school, there were posters inviting girls to this after school club called "girls group".
I asked my teacher if there would be any such group for us boys, because it sounded fun.
she answered "toughen up, girls need the group to talk about and do girls stuff".

My parents, esp my Dad was quite a bad influence on me and I didn't realize the consequences at the time. He was quite crazy indeed, but on a different topic completely.
Though you can also choose who you take after too; or even look around for better role models.
I had my first male teacher in 5th grade. He was so much easier to talk to and socialize with than all the female teachers I had before. It was crazy because I’ve never connected with a teacher like that before.

I was one of the few blessed to have a good female teacher. She was aware of the issues boys face and made sure to keep us engaged and interested. She was the reason I did not drop out.

There are a lot of good women teachers, but there are an equal number of bad ones. Watch out for female English teachers, they’re either the very worst or the very best you’ll ever meet.

My son stopped talking to me 2.5 yrs ago when I had to be a tough dad. He was 15. I have not seen him since that time. I don't know where he lives because his mother does not want me to know. He just turned 18. I reach out to him by text, email all the time. Words of love and wisdom. I try to be relevant in the face of absence. Once in a blue moon I get a 1line response. Since I have not seen him, I have lost my brother and my mother. I love him so much. Yet he continues to deny me the chance to be his dad. It hurts more than words can express. Tyler, I love you, and I miss you. Please come back to your father.

Your communication with him despite no response is likely to be sinking in and creating internal security at some level that he will ultimately recognize even if it is only when he has children. Is there any way you can persuade the mom to do couples' communication with you?
All way through middle school 5 years old til 10 years old (in the uk), only had female teachers, every year bad reports "could do better"! Couple of teachers in particular made it clear they preferred teaching girls, in my final year we had a male teacher (only one in the school ) the connection he made with the boys was fantastic, he wanted the boys to be proud strong young men, needless to say my parents were shocked when I received a excellent school report. Strong male role models in the education system, especially in the early years, will do wonders for a boys confidence and development in life and education!
Through out elementary and middle school i had all female teachers and my grade stayed around D and C, im in high school now and almost all my teachers are male and my grades are almost all B and A. Male teachers really do make a difference, i feel much more engaged in my work and i feel happier and excited to go to school.
I did really good in all my history classes because most of the teachers I had in those classes were men
I'm a male primary teacher. I've introduced rough housing for all on a Friday morning. So much fun.

As a girl honestly got tired of just female teachers,I've had them most of my life in school but last year when I got a male history teacher.He made history fun,he was engaging to everyone in class. The whole class had chemistry it did because he cared about the subject and showed us how fun it can be.
So yes,more male teachers in schools please.

Yep same here, and people assume that female teachers naturally prefer girls or are more empathetic, yet for some reason the only teachers i ever had severe issues with were women. Thats not to say women cant be good teachers, but we really need to stop with the whole “women are kind and empathetic” because its not good for anyone.

Excellent talk. My father told me many years ago that the media had done a disservice to fathers by casting them as fools to be ignored or laughed at . I think this combined with the pressure to limit their commit to the family by making money as the way to show love.

My father will always be my favorite person. I admired him so much throughout my childhood that after one semester of college, I told him I wanted to just quit and go work for him on his farm. Best descission I could have made. He died of a massive heart attack just a few years later. I was so great full to have been able to work side by side with him during his last few years of adventures in this life. I really miss you dad.

Go to any comment section of a video talking about female injustices and you'll see it's full of people who think men don't have ANY problems. Now granted, when it comes to mens' rights activists, they are just as bad. Pretty much every political movement makes it sound like they are more important than everyone else.

This man is so right! Men really do need more for a sense of well being other than material success. No matter how successful in their job and wealth accumulation there's always someone else with "more, bigger, more luxurious" stuff which makes men feel somehow not the man he should be. 10 years after our divorce from our 20 year marriage, I found out that's why my husband basically checked out of our marriage. We had EVERYTHING we could possibly need or want and I refused to go into deep debt for bigger, better, newer when what we had was nice, paid for and plenty of it. Several tvs, vcrs, video game consoles, a nice home, we both had cars, our kids were healthy. I was very happy but he kept pulling away in our last years. I never could figure out why. He finally told me it was because he started working with very wealthy men who drove expensive trucks and cars, had small mansions, expensive everything and he felt that he had let us all down by not being able to provide that kind of life for us. He was a wonderful husband, father, provider and I never rode him about our "lot in life" because we wanted for nothing. After this talk, I realized he's right. The ONLY expectation for men is make money and lots of it. When you can't, I imagine it's almost like being castrated. Interesting talk.

Some years ago, my son was little around 7- 8 years old. One day, we got a request to come in and see his teacher. We (parents) came in and she stated that there are issues/concerns
that our boy is too energetic, and active. (Despite being good academically). She(teacher) suggested to see a psychologist for my son.The teacher did stir up a storm on herself.
My wife's first reaction was to the teacher " Why don't you work in the green house environment and take care of the flowers. If you work with kids, you have to know they can't sit several
hours on one chair". My response was to the teacher, how can you hurt a young child for life , if his/her memories like at a young age, already had to see a psychologist. I don't have to
tell, we (parents) had more issues with this teacher, that we laid them out for her on the spot. She wasn't ready for that for sure. I made it crystal clear for this teacher, if she is not happy in
the school environment( Canada) my son is not the root cause.
At home I told my son, the teacher is not a good one, and my son did not do anything wrong.

The most shocking statistic for me was the one presented at 6:43 , which showed that boys are actively discriminated against in education, with teachers actually giving them poorer marks because they are boys.
What a sickening betrayal by people (mostly women), who are in a position of trust. This is happening on a huge scale too.
Anyone caught doing this should be fired and banned from teaching for life but nothing gets done.
I don't think the the teachers know they are doing it. I think our society has ingrained certain things in our society that cause boys to be treated that way.
+Greg Carlson From my experience they know very well what they are doing. I switched schools at one point. The 2nd school had a very different set of teachers. My grades went up by 1 mark. The first school had several teachers who were very vocal about feminist topics. I see a correlation of this fact and the discrimination against boys.

Well, it isn't helped by the fact that the gold standard of good behavior in most schools is a well behaved girl. And if a boy does not act like a well behaved girl, then there is something wrong with him and he needs to be labeled with ADHD, ADD, Autism, etc. Oh and the percentage of male teachers in K-12 schools has dropped from 13% to 7% for anyone who was curious about that.

A lot of people now claim that they want to solve "problems' of today's world and concentrate on identity politics, victim statuses etc and neglect at the same time the foundations which are good parenting and building a healthy family.
If we all (or at least some of us) focus on rising our children, having good and healthy relations with our family, friends, colleagues at work and being responsible human we wouldn't have time for all the nonsens.

I think they did a test in Sweden (or usa?), that they take job applications for a job (or "job") and they said those who searched for that job, shouldn't write thier name, where they came from or what gender (something like that), so they could take the people who was most suiteable for the job, hopeing for healthy mix of people.
100% of the people that came for the interiew was male only... So they called it off 😂😂

Maybe it's just in some countrys. I've read a few years ago that in some countrys it's normalized that you can apply for a job without photo and just the first letter of your name.
Another issue men face is struggling with talking about our issues. Men are always taught to not show emotion and that leads to holding in your feelings and not asking for help when you need it.

It's just sometimes men explain things in a more simple, understandable way. Don't get me wrong, female teachers are good but sometimes, a male teacher's explanation is easier to understand.
Mine were as well.
As a single-parented child, I feel extremely grateful and lucky with my uncle. He was my father figure throughout my whole childhood, since he was the youngest of five brothers, he and my mom where the only ones still living with my grandparents, and as a newly college graduate he had quite some free time, and so we spend a lot of time together: he would frequently help me with homework, take me to swimming school, showed me his favorite music, shows and movies, and of course he scolded me when I deserved it. Over the years our relationship grew apart, since eventually he met her wife and had children of his own, but it's still strong to this day, and recently we both had a conversation where this subject was brought up and he said that, in a way, I gave him purpose during that time.
Now that I'm hearing this, I'm tearing up just thinking how much we both helped each other, he gave me a role model to pursue in absence of my "father" and prevented me from becoming a confused and unstable young man in the future while I gave him something to occupy his mind during unsure times, essentialy preventing him to fall in the same scenario and preparing him for future fatherhood.
I swear I'll give him the longest, whole-hearted hug next time I see him.

My father was deaf and, had a massive stroke when I was 11. Wonderful man, WWII vet but very absent as a father due to aforementioned circumstances. He was hospitalized for most of the next 6 years following the stroke when he passed away. I want to stress he was a very kind man. If you look at my report cards I was a straight A student with comments from my teachers saying the kindest things about me. "Class leader"! "Everybody likes Doug and he likes everybody". "Hard worker"! " Work is very neat" "Great contributor to class discussions". You get the point. When the stroke came the grades became C's with comments that weren't so complimentary. "disruptive" "fools around" and more. I started my senior year in high school at 128 lbs. There wasn't much food at the house and my Mom was at the hospital until very late most nights. This story could get very long but just to reiterate what this guy says, boys need a Dad.

I’m in my 50’s I know what’s it like not having a dad- attempted suicide in my early teens - they placed me in a psychiatric hospital - I felt broken all over. I was tested in every sector , I developed a temper. I started using drugs at easing my pain. Thankfully I never hurt anyone , I joined the Catholic Church began counseling in my late teens. The church became my father , I joined The Air Cadet program, helped with my social skills. I met my wife - now been married for 30 years. I have my son , I left my occupation 20 years ago, my wife became our provider- she understands. I took odd jobs to contribute. My son and I do everything together, although he’s much older now and attempting at being independent- I’m available to help him. I had a dad - abusive, hit me a lot , but I never turned him in. I’ve learned to forgive, move forward. Very true ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.

There are alot of tedx talks about this issue. Don't make the same mistake as many feminists do and fight the other side of the coin.
If you really care about this, do something about it. Volunteer to work with young boys, if you plan on being a father be a good father to your kids, no matter if they are girl or boy.

I find it quite sad that 7 years later, not much awareness has gone to the boy crisis, and it is still greatly negatively affecting boys all around the world
very interesting. I'm a girl and my favorite teacher was a male and i feel that because he was a male he had more of an influence on me. because i didn't have any good male figures in my life and i distrusted men due to past experience, this teacher made me feel more trusting towards men. there's almost no recovering without a mother but kids still need their fathers.

The actual science says the opposite of this to be true. Children require love and structure to excel. In the vast majority of cases, structure is uniquely provided by the father and love is provided by both parents.

What is this nonsense about feminists? Why are you even giving them attention?
It are the unions that provided the people with human rights. And it are inventions like the washing machine that allowed women to join the workforce.
Unions consist of both women and men. Workers and employers. Immigrants and natives. Scientists and athletes.
They are the ones who are supposed to find a way for a sustainable increase in better living conditions in cooperation with the government. Not some power hungry one-sided group!
What you should be worried about is the ignorance among the youth concerning the unions. And the decrease of their memberships. Here are a few things they should be informed about:
_ It's not a mafia thing.
_ It's not communism, It's a social part of capitalism.
_ Everyone can be a member.
_ Everyone's voice is used in statistics.
_ Unions use a sensible form of egalitarianism by for example seeking balance between productivity and well being.
The disproportionate funding is just ridiculous and together with insufficient positive media coverage they're just not going to last.

This talk made me so sad.
I love how he covered that being a father is as important as having a father. As a father to two young boys 8 and 5, I can only say that learning from them is as important as teaching them. I was lucky that even though my father worked a lot, he always made some time for me whenever he had it. These years pass us by and our memories of our loved ones are all we have. We need to cherish them and work against those who would keep us from our children and others we love.

I wrote a paper on the need of father's last year, and now I'm finding more and more people saying the same. Coming from a home with an amazing, loving, thoughtful, smart, and dedicated father I was an anomaly among my peers. To this date all my close friends lived in a house with absent, dead, or divorced father's. Luckily my friends and I all turned out for the better, but it's awesome people are talking about this.

Given how few male teachers I had, most of my favorite teachers were men and allowed me to be more honest and open to new ideas during class and helpful even during study halls.
Great job Warren. We keep trying to ignore the crises of our Son's and blaming it on anything else, guns, knives, etc. School shooting are boys acting out we keep ignoring! A Father deprivation at home to a Male teach deprivation at school. Will any politician have the courage to stand up for this. If they do they will have my vote.

@Billy Keep going. As a female school was a bore for me too. The school system does not educate it indoctrinates. I do know that boys are being targeted though. Just get your degree and move on to what you love.
"Friday" is a great movie that relates to this. The character played by Ice Cube is a good kid and has both mom and dad at the house. He's grown up in a community where the young men around him don't have fathers at home and gun violence is the order of the day. His dad tells him to be a man and to fight without using guns but to step up and use his fists. You risk getting hurt but not dead. He ends up fighting the bully on the block and brings out a gun but his dad looks so disappointed in him that he puts it down and fights like a man. He gets hurt but ultimately wins the fight and is a hero to all present. It's one of the funniest movies ever with the power of a serious message along with it. If he hadn't had his dad, he could have ended up dead or in prison. It did all this without being preachy.
Even in South Korea, this is true. There were female students placed in higher level English classes and male students placed in lower level classes. Several of the boys seem less motivated. And when I mentioned a couple of the students were on lower levels, the principal seemed shocked.
When I had my two children, I was relieved to discover that they were girls and not boys. This talk here is vindication of my feelings.
I get so sad when I think of how Warren Farrell doesn't have a meaningful presence in gender studies, mainly because he's treated as a pariah for having perfectly reasonable positions.

@@JKTProductionzIncNCo I dunno if OP is male or female but I'm assuming female. The point being made in the video is that children need role models in their lives, both men and women, so if you were a single mother, it would be less difficult accounting for a role model.
