Suigintou is probably my favourite of the Rozen Maidens (with Souseiseki a close second) - I think, because she is the most “interesting”. Not a straight-up villain, but someone who has been deeply, profoundly hurt by her experiences, and who despite all her bluster and aggression, genuinely loves her sisters (and arguably Shinku most of all). Suigintou is clearly taken aback by Shinku’s tears of relief at her reappearance (though her pride demands she mask it with more bravado), and had this anime continued for further seasons on this “timeline”, I wonder whether Suigintou might have had her own “redemption arc”?
Here's what I've gathered from meditation on Rozen Maiden. there's a bigger picture that Suigintou painted, one which many fans don't see: She teaches the lessons of humbleness and belief. Humbleness: Suigintou didn't win the Alice game, but she won the hearts of millions of real-world people. She also said, at the end of Traumend: "Father once said.. that I could become Alice, too...even with this body...", a quote which also ties into the belief lesson: she had firm beliefs that she'd win the title of Alice, but instead, she knew in her heart that she didn't need those Rosa Mysticas to become Alice, and that if she thought of herself as Alice, then she WAS Alice.
