Why Conservatives Must Wield Political Power and Abolish the DEI Bureaucracy

- I have been engaged in an ongoing debate with Dr. Jordan Peterson about how to restrict DEI programs and racialist ideology in America’s public institutions.
In recent conversations on Twitter, Dr. Peterson has urged caution about my education policy proposals and the reforms happening in Florida under Governor Ron DeSantis. In response, I released a sixteen-minute video with the express intent of persuading Dr. Peterson to endorse our plan to abolish DEI bureaucracies and restore the principle of colorblind equality in the public universities. I pointed out that he has repeatedly called for “D-E-I to D-I-E,” in other words, for its abolition, but when the actual policy was proposed, he hesitated. My question was: why? If DEI is a threat to academic rigor, democratic governance, and equality under law-and it is-there is no reason to hesitate. In fact, there is a duty to act.
Dr. Peterson watched the video and graciously asked me to join him on an episode of his podcast to discuss my position further. I made the case for reform and Dr. Peterson responded positively, saying that I was correct about the necessity for reform and that I had addressed his concerns. And yet, at the end of the podcast, he was still somewhat reticent to explicitly endorse my proposal, warning that there might be “snakes lurking under the
carpet.”
After the episode, I realized that Dr. Peterson’s ambiguity was not about the quality or correctness of my proposal, but was based on the difference between theoretical and prudential wisdom, or, the difference between philosophy and statesmanship. I developed a deeper appreciation for Dr. Peterson, who seems to be simultaneously attracted and repelled from political life, which operates on a profoundly different set of principles than the contemplative and intellectual life of the college professor. Dr. Peterson approaches the world philosophically, while I approach the world politically. These are not in opposition, but exist in a productive tension.
I urge you to watch the whole podcast: • Limiting the Woke? | C... . And I would like to thank Dr. Peterson for his generosity of time and spirit-I remain a devoted admirer of his work and consider him a friend and ally in the cause.

Identifying them is easy, anyone pushing for equity and identitiy needs to be removed.
A huge relief that Jordan is on-side after all!
You are doung great work, Chris Rufo.
Chris is top-notch! Love the guy.
He always was. Glad you know that now
@@tomsmith2340 Really? Even if that's so, Dr. Peterson is a very influential public figure, don't underestimate him. Talking and convincing is what he does best, he's not a politician nor an activist.
Why would you think he wasn't? His refusal to give in to pronouns is what first gave him notoriety.
@@OlympiaCHUD Always was... Controlled Opposition.
I think Dr. Peterson's point about indoctrinated teachers coming out of education schools is important, and wasn't addressed enough. If the teachers are activists, they will be hard to rein in. We have been seeing teacher pushback in Florida for example
You mean like prohibiting leftwing indoctrination in public institutions of higher education, which would include colleges of education, which is exactly what Rufo is talking about?
Fu*k 'em if they can't take a joke!
I watched the whole interview yesterday. It was the best thing Jordan Peterson’s done in a while. Great interview.
Is it full online?
@@iliv2bhap yeah. On daily wire

Excellent! I feel a sense of freedom just knowing you are doing something so important for our educational systems...a step in the right direction...pun intented.
We desperately need this in Canadian universities, colleges, and schools. It has gane much farther here, and a media blackout has followed the Liberal government's selective subsidies of news organizations.
Chinada has fallen. 🇨🇳 🇨🇦
Conservatives have been asleep for decades. This is how it happened.
Not asleep. Afraid. Cowardice is how we arrived where we are
Well, when a system is working just fine with little same old same old intervention required, then hindsight is perhaps twenty twenty, for not realising that bad actors have infiltrated the system and have started to meddle with it. The liberal value of tolerance probably didn't raise the red flag of xenophobia either.
I appreciate the importance of the political battle but I think we must be careful in how much emphasis is being put on the fact that the DIE bureaucracy is not in line with the will of the people. It should be unacceptable EVEN IF it has majority public support. So by all means, focus on that in step 1 if it helps (use whatever tools you have at your disposal), but please bear in mind, it isn't the heart of the matter and actually misses the point in my opinion.
This issue really goes all the way down to whether a company/school can expel you for not thinking a certain way, hypothetically in line with the company's/school's values. What exactly are you allowed to think and say without placing yourself at risk of losing your livelihood? This is the issue that never needed to be addressed when there was broad agreement about what mattered and what constituted reality and what couldn't be changed.
I pray every day for God to raise up people, who seek His perfect true wisdom, into areas of leadership and education.
When I was in middle school in the 1980s, I had a Social Studies teacher who was very open about her Democrat politics. This was very rare at the time, believe it or not. That was a Presidential election year and she was very open about her support for Michael Dukakis over George Bush Sr. And yet she never tried to push it on us. This was over 30 years ago but as I remember, it was a very good class. In Middle School, we took trips to the Statue of LIberty, Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall, even passed out pocket Constitutions on the 200th anniversary in 1987. No doubt teachers were left-leaning back then and there was maybe even, looking back at it, a little CRT-ish motivation under the surface. But we were still taught true history, we were taught about slavery and Jim Crow, my AP History teacher showed Eyes on the Prize in class, but we were also taught about the good of America. That last part is what's really lacking now.
P.S. Sorry Chris but I will push back on one minor tangential point: I do not believe it's the government's place to enshrine morality. There's a big difference between, say murder and personal drug possession. But even the big things like murder, I would argue that it's a moral code against killing that has been codified by government. It's not wrong just because the government says so.
This was a great interview!
God Bless!
Would it be possible to transfer education money to parents and college students so that they can spend that money on private conservative colleges?
Excellent discussion. Chris, your explanation of the background interaction is insightful, i.e., philosophical vs. political. Understanding the overwhelming power of the Educational Industrial Complex and leaning for philosophical, I'm far from optimistic about any and all efforts of top-down "reform" at this late date. JBP's concern with "concordance" is paramount in my mind. The majority culture which is FUNDING education has been rendered impotent (Rufo). They need to vote with their feet by forcing legislators to have $$ follow students not systems. This will create secondary dynamics many Democrat voters look upon favorably. I've been in the battle for over 50 years. I hope Mr. Rufo's reform plan is fully successful. Read THE SECULAR REVOLUTION: Power, Interests, and Conflict in the Secularization of American Public Life, Christian Smith - General Editor, 2003.
Definitely read the description of this video to get Chris's insight on their different yet complementary viewpoints. Jordan's is philosophical, Chris's is political. That's a really useful distinction.
Excellent!
Well said.
You're the first one that I hear understand the link between the Constitution and virtues. Good for you.
I am not sure about that commissar's new office, it sounds too political, although an office of free speech might be an idea, free inside the virtues of course. Or better yet, responsible speech.
The thing is that even if you take out some behaviors that are overt, discrimination will still happen based on ideas and so on which is not great in a school, especially if it is political. It's possible let's say to discriminate against "whites" by just shutting them down let's say, or based on fake reasoning. It's something that happens a lot in some places. If you get pegged as being the other group, whatever that group may be, there are ways to make your life miserable by being submitted verbally let's say, from a person in authority, so there is no possible defense. It's actually the root of the problem and how it happened slowly behind the scenes.
It's killing people with a thousand cuts. It's impossible to stop or complain about since there is no smoking gun, and there is no recourse if all the administration is on board with the ideology. You may not know the reason, but it's possible to tell and if someone was to confront the persons abusing, you might find the reason or stop the behavior. That would go to the bottom of the problem. It's also the "basis" of the school system Peterson is looking for, although I am sure he believes in some other thing entirely.
Even in a dogmatic system like in the Middle Ages, people could make mistakes, and the common value was to search for the truth. If the person was wrong they would retract when corrected. It's that simple. Everybody is equal towards the truth, and you need to point out errors and they need correction. Of course Peterson would die in such a place, but it's for the better. Perhaps he might even get useful, because the potential is there, it just lacks discipline.
Next you have to find a way to make it so banks can't only issue loans to companies with high ESG scores. I'm not sure what is a bigger issue, ESG or DIE.
They overlap. Environmental, Social, Governance is social justice and DIE inclusive of leftist environmental policy
They are different sides of the same coin. They are undermining liberty from two sides at the same time.
The seeds of equity are pure. They are planted by wicked men. The fruit is poison.
JBP was helpful, a bit, for a moment in time; now he's an obstacle. He's an example of the conglomeration of obstacles we've faced since the early 80s. If it's not one, it's another. The WW2 gen pols ignored us and were laughed off the media stage, then, and out of the clown-car. The regular normals had no mic. This new group is doing better and better. Right on the edge.
You need to elaborate. I don't really understand your point.
This is so good. if you don't understand, this is how freedom progress .
Agreed that bureaucrats and its overarching autonomy ' is a total adversary of democracy 'Agreed totally but the dismantling of this hydraesk will not be an easy task ' but not impossible for a strong leader and party"" good luck
The problem is the result of the good and normal not being willing to absolutely destroy their opponents. So long as you are unwilling to go scorched earth on opponents who will do so, you will not defeat them. Nothing about bejng a good person requires you to be soft, or stupid. In a fight over such things, it is justified for the good folks to go scorched earth.
Very interesting. But why does Peterson quote the old idea that you cannot legislate morality. Of course you can and indeed do. I suspect most if not all laws are based upon a moral code or foundation. I'm glad that Rufo challenged him on that.
If you think that all laws legislate morality it is clear you never lived in NYS. There it is the letter of the law stripped of any morality.
That's my question. Why haven't stopped this?
The insanity of the last three years in America finally convinced me to leave. I just couldn’t take the stupidity, hatred, lies and violence anymore. It’s FUBAR!
you didn't answer the last question but otherwise good interview
Look, I get it - NASCAR is never going to be for everyone.
But, what did Dale Earnhardt Incorporated ever do to Chris Rufo?
Why the vitriol against racing?
Teresa killed DEI. Surely, Senior is rolling over in his grave.
@@Long_Machine Truly the Yoko Ono of Auto Racing.
You need to add anti-ageism to that Office of Equality, Merit and Colorblindness.
That's pretty good Gregory!
Wouldn't that be covered by merit? I'd think merit is increased by experience which is gained with age.
Rufo is acting. Peterson is yacking. Rufo has given Desantis and Abbott and others the rationale and political support they needed to act. Peterson’s yacking would never do that. Canada just gets worse while he screams from the side lines. Although I do not like Rufo’s compliance office idea, just replacing one kind of bureaucrat with another.
Trying to decide if the micros were anger or disgust from Ruffo. I mean, Ruffo is the only person on offense. So doesn’t that make Peterson a bit of a looser in comparison? I mean, we should cut him slack having come back from the dead and all. But, on the other hand, Peterson is much more of a sellout and money grabber than hero.
In a culture bereft of actual heros, they are as good as gold.
Yarvin and Peterson are probably embarrassed to be so relatively useless vs. Ruffo and Lindsay. I am at the point where i want to win. I want to support heros. Not minstrels and fools chucking spoiled fruit from the bleachers.
In other words they are doing what leftists do by displacing their inadequacies and attacking the standard of judgement. If im right, its pathetic.
Hopefully Rufo can make a couple hundred million after he is done fighting.
You mean the facial tics? I read that as nerves. This was a fairly high-stakes conversation, in my opinion, and there was a decent chance of it going sideways. Fortunately Chris did exceptionally well.
I realize your brain needs to keep up.. together w your speaking( or visa versa) or you might loose train of thought ..but if possible can you try practicing slowing down ..i could bettet take in what your sayimg ..i am trying to understand these concepts...Thank You
