I really love Dipper and Pacifica’s dynamic in this episode, I can see why people ship it. Also, this episode was the one that really made me question whether this was a Disney show. One thing I like is that it wasn’t Grenda’s looks or her voice that made Mabel and Candy apprehensive about her and Marius, but her aggressiveness in flirting. And the fact that Marius liked that about her really sold me on those two.
This is probably my favorite episode of GF. Horror and mystery were on point. Pacifica is honestly treated like one of Pavlov’s dogs to me, especially with the bell. It’s a different kind of horror. Dipper and Pacifica, to me, seem to bring out the best in each other. It was really nice to see both of them at their best. Grenda was top tier too.
I've always shipped Dipper and Pacifica because they're such polar opposites - It never seemed like this ship could never work but in this episode, they unexpectedly had so much chemistry together. Of course, the two kinda disliked each other at first and just wanted to get the mystery over with. Dipper was overall being casual and a bit bitter about the situation, even hilariously roasting her on her hair. Meanwhile Pacifica was being her usual self, totally stuck up with an attitude. But eventually, Pacifica revealed some of the struggles she went through. Dipper served as a person to comfort her and be honest with her. She's not used to either of those things in the cruel and dishonest way she was raised. That's why Dipper is a good match for Pacifica. On the other hand, my boi Dipper is usually a scrawny, sweaty, anxious pre-teen who almost constantly tries to proove himself to those around him. But for some reason when he was with Pacifica, he had tons of confidences. That might have something to do with the way his character contrasts Pacifica's. Dipper seemed personally happy to let loose and show Pacifica how to have some fun as they rebelled together by playing with mud on her parent's carpet. That's why Pacifica is a good match for Dipper (also she's rich) xD I feel like they're always going to have that "making fun of each other" dynamic, but it would most likely get more playful. That would lead to hilarious interactions we didnt know we needed and an overall less sappy/lovey-dovey relationship that really doent fit Dipper's character. There's a lot of tension between the two of them because they are such polar opposites, but deep down, they work for each other :))
Fun fact (and maybe a spoiler idk): This is the only episode to not feature Stan or Soos. That aside this has always been one of my favorite GF episodes. As for Dipper you really can't fault him for not wanting to bother with any more mysteries tonight after what he just went through, though it's just unfortunate timing that the laptop just so happens to be counting down to something big happening in 21 hours.
What’s best about this episode is that in Dipper journal he wrote down that Pacifica looked good in an evening dress! And he crossed out the words, “Am I crazy or was there some sort of vibe going on?”
Fun Fact: Season 2 was supposed to start off crazily different. Alex Hirsch even confirmed it. The original first episode of season 2 was supposed to start off as we're seeing the point of view of someone who is running, and panting heavily. They are running through the woods until they find the Mystery Shack, where Dipper and Mable are outside. The stranger quickly approaches and Dipper and Mable gasp upon who they see. It turns out to be Dipper, who is older, and from the future. Not only that but he looks really banged up. He immediately says that he doesn't have much time and says in the future Mabel is dead, all because he made a mistake. He then gives present Dipper a page of codes and tells him not to let Mabel see it because it's how she dies, entrusting him to prevent it from happening. Future Dipper is about to tell them something important only for his watch to beep and he screams out he needs more time before he disappears. Present day Mabel and Dipper look at one another in shock, before the title sequence starts. Apparently they couldn't make the whole idea work so it was scrapped. But This is something I wish they would have done, as it would have been very interesting.
This is absolutely one of the best episodes in the show. The horror, the character growth, and the foreboding to the near future when things start to pick up! This episode is absolutely packed and I love it!
Also no, you’re definitely not weird for shipping Dipper and Pacifica. I won’t spoil how the show ends up by telling you who gets together, but Pacifica is shipped with Dipper almost as much as Wendy is, if not more.
@@MikeyVenture It might stay that way, it really is that good. These next two change everything though, not to mention the multi part finale, there’s just so much good stuff here
You know, if you had told me during my viewing of season 1 that Pacifica would end up being one of favorite characters, I wouldn't have believed you, and yet...
I love this episode. It has a great atmosphere, great visuals, horror elements and gives Pacifica more character development. Yeah, her parents suck. The bell is especially is really bad, but I also love the scene where she refuses to drag mud onto her parents' favorite carpet despite literally being chased by a ghost trying to kill her. You can truly see her panicking in that moment and I think that's very telling. 2:07 A small thing to note: There is a picture of Dipper dealing with the supernatural in the paper because the Society of the Blind Eye isn't active anymore and stuff like that is therefore no longer being kept under wraps. 4:51 Oh, don't worry, you're not alone. Many people ship them (myself included). It just... works. 10:20 Aaand now we know why there were so many zombies for Dipper to raise in S2E1 (I'm serious, it's confirmed in Journal 3). 15:08 This might be obvious for some/most(?) viewers, but I'll honestly admit that while watching this for the first time, the implications of turning everyone into WODDEN statues and then planning to BURN the house is just a fancy way of killing everyone. I'm so used to transformations spells being used as something that's specifically NOT deadly that the murder plan flew straight over my head. 17:55 Fun fact, just like with Blendin in Season 1, where you can go back to previous episodes and see him in the background, the two secret agents can be seen in several of the previous episodes also hidden in the background. They've been keeping tabs on the Pines family ever since S2E1. In other news, they're having such a married couple argument with the purse and the phone, it always cracks me up.
@@hanzaril Yup, they sure are. They're hidden in the audience during Sock Opera, you can see them very briefly in the mall during Soos and the Real Girl and I think Soos drives past them in Society of the Blind Eye. I love this episode so much! So excited for what's coming. And little me was SOLD on Dipcifica, it's definitely a huge ship amongst fans and they're very cute here~ It's also great to see you recognize Pacifica's development. I mean it's obvious in this episode, but some people thought it was sudden when, as you pointed out, the signs were all there. Very cool! :D
I like how they handled Pacifica over the course of a few episodes. How she was on the surface in her first appearance, but then as they slowly peeled away the layers you saw it was very much her parents who were responsible
As creepy as the howl ghost stuff was, the truly creepy thing was the bell for me. What we saw with Pacifica and her parents here is called "conditioning", where you get the subject to display specific behaviour when given specific triggers/scenarious by using positive or negative reinforcement. Negative reinforcement is often done through punishment. (An example to explain it easier: To test the phenomenon they put two rats into empty cages with one red button each. Rat A would get a treat everytime she pressed the button (positive reinforcement), rat B would get an electrical shock (negative reinforcement). Rat A continued to press the button more frequently while Rat B stoped pressing it becouse it asociated the red button with pain.) For Pacifica to have a phisicall reaction (shutting up, stepping back, phisically strugeling when trying to disobay, etc) to the sound of the bell means we can asume that her parents used negative reinforcement through punishment to condition her to listen to their every comand. And her behaviour strongly suggests that those punishments where not something simple like beeing grounded. Her strong phisical reaction suggests that it was most likely phisical punishments.
Yeah, there’s a timer, which does make the next episode seem like a big deal, but the next episode may not be what it seems. (Note: I saw your comment about recording the episode already, but I couldn’t resist that one) 😁
Hey mike, the pose where dipper was turned to wood, was the EXACT pose the shape shifter made when he told dipper “this will be the last form you ever take! **in dippers voice** AHHH”
Loved the reaction!! This ep was one of the peak gravity falls out there. The character development, the mystery, the horror, the humor and that ending! Cant wait for the next ep!!
There are two things I need to say... In the second episode of season 2 the shapeshifter turned into Dipper and and got frozen in a specific pose. Dipper has the same pose when he got turned into wood. the second thing is: as an austrian I can confirm that flicking our noses is the most seductive thing you can do. It's irresistible for us and is basically a marrige proposal. But you don't want to flick the noses of multiple Austrians or else they'll steal yours
Wendy is a descendent of the lumberjack ghost and the workers who died making the mansion that were buried were moved down hill due to mud slides unknowingly ending up were the Mystery Shack was which a certain Dipper revived on karaoke night probably. Just some things not mention in the show but the real life copy of book 3

Friendly reminder that this is a Disney show. Alex Hirsch and co. got this aired on Disney networks. If that's not a power move, then I don't know what is. Anyway yes, Dipcifica OTP.
Don't know if anyone else has pointed this out, but Pacifica's dad says there's enough food for him, Pacifica and the butler before they eat the butler. He never mentions Pacifica's mother in that list. Just a little detail to make you hate him even more.
i am SO excited for you to finish the series! i've really enjoyed your reactions so far compared to the other channels reacting to gravity falls currently :)
Last time I saw this episode, I realized that when Dipper turns to wood, he is in the exact same pose as the Shapeshifter was when it said "This will be the last form you'll ever take!" as he shapeshifted into Dipper.
It actually was hours, not days, so Dipper really doesn't have the time to take a break. It's so interesting to see the family dynamics of the Northwests up close. Pacifica's parents don't quite abuse her but they treat her like a pet. She's more of an accessory than a daughter, and they literally trained her into acting how she is.
I'm not a shipping person, but even I kinda rooting for Dipper and Pacifica myself They really do match much better than Dipper-Wendy, and not just because they're somewhat of the same age.
One piece of continuity I think no one thinks about is that newspaper. Remember that before this the Society of the Blind Eye would stop stories like this from getting out.
This is one of my favorite Matt Braly directed episodes in Gravity falls. He is now the EP of Amphibia which imo, has gotten just as good as Gravity falls. Edit: Matt won an Annie for “Outstanding Achievement in Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production” for this episode.
Amphibia is a show that i think is really good, but i just not enjoy and i guess its beacuse its episode are 11 minute episode and i tjink 11 minute isnt enough to tell a good story, i really love all her full laungh episode and the big story
It's a canon ship. Tho I would have loved if they focused more on her in the later episodes and show Dipper and Pacifica more since they were pretty great together It's the only thing that I didn't like in gravity falls, otherwise it's a perfect show
@@mumflerdinclebottom5507 Dipper writing notes about his adventures in the journals, he writes about about northwest mystery. About Pacifica he writes that "despite her parent's attempt to make her awful, there is still hope for her after all" in the next paragraph he writes "she also looks kinda okay in evening dress, I guess" The next part is scribbled out- "And when she hugs you she smells like champagne and flowers and... Am I crazy or was there some vibe going on?"
My thoughts: CIPHER UPDATE: The key word, “CURSED” can be seen hidden in the windows outside the mansion when it’s raining. The end credits cipher decodes to, “NEXT UP ON UTBAHC: DID ALIENS WRITE THE CONSTITUTION? CRAWDADS IN TIARAS! AND FLORIDA: THE SHOW.” and the cipher on the end picture decodes to, “STAN IS NOT WHAT HE SEEMS STAN IS NOT WHAT HE SEEMS STAN IS NOT WHAT HE SEEMS.”. First things first for me to say; it makes so much sense why the Northwests forced Dipper to do their work for them and why they never let the townsfolk inside. It totally reminds me of that scene from Spiderman: Homecoming when the Vulture says, “They don’t care about us.”. This gives us all that the theme of this episode is RICH PEOPLE ARE EVIL. Because of that, I have decided that I never want to be rich throughout my life because I don’t want to be evil. Also, I totally understand Dipper’s discomfort with wearing a suit. Whenever I would go to college, my parents would often make me wear a dress shirt and jeans. But the truth is, I always feel more comfortable wearing just a t-shirt and sweats. That part gets me really upset because this is like the only episode where we don’t see Dipper in his normal outfit. Don’t get me wrong but; what is wrong with wearing your own kind of clothing? Next thought, I know we all now see Pacifica on the good side, but I truly and honestly give so much respect for Dipper snapping at her and her parents. The other day, I was watching Don’t Look Up with my family and I said to them that it feels so good to speak up and get something off your chest even if it involves bursting out into anger. Although, if I was Dipper in that particular moment, I would have said a lot more than what he originally said. To be specific, I would have said something like this, “I was right about you all along! You are just as bad as your parents! For once in my life I actually thought that you were not so vicious, but now it’s clear to me! You are nothing but EVIL! All of you are! But especially you! You are just another link in the world’s worst chain!!!”. I know that you would most certainly not agree with my words, but that’s what I in particular would have said if I was Dipper before finding out that Pacifica wants to be good. Lastly, I don’t agree with Dipper calling Pacifica’s parents “idiots”. I would actually say that they’re ASSHOLES if they hate her for her final decision. That’s simply because they’re abusive and cruel. Other than all of those opinions, great reaction as always. I can’t wait for Tuesday to see your reaction to THE BEST EPISODE EVER in the whole series! That’s no shit, man!
Clue was wonderful and hilarious agreed. Aintafraidus no ghostus XD It's been YEARS since I've seen any of the Ernest movies - or actually found anyone who watched them! I used to watch them with my dad. Hey references are fun - and can be a great nostalgia bomb :D While I hate Pacificas parents I can appreciate that they got Nathan Fillion to voice her dad. Seriously (I saw some people pointed out that the post Dipper took was the one that the shapeshifter said would be his last form - if Pacifica DIDN'T Step up? That would have been it right there.)
Oh hey, remember the first episode of this season? Now look back at the lumberjack's story, with the price paid for building the mansion, and then how the man had died. Now you know where the zombies came from, and how they reached the area near the shack, where they emerged from after Dipper summoned them. :)
This isn't just a cursed mansion episode, in the secret painting room the Northwest's we're crossing their fingers when shaking hands with a native chief, that is a clear reference to how the elite of America and evan the American government itself reinstated on deals and didn't uphold their end of the bargain and mistreated and expelled the natives. And so much More
Also I hate the way Dipper assumes Pacifica is just as bad as the other Northwests just because of what her family did. He should know Pacifica wouldn't have been told, but even if she was, he should judge her based on her most recent actions and not whatever happened before. At this point I couldn't blame her at all, and it bothers me that even the ghost would blame some one just because of the family they come from.
Another episode for another character development ohhhh it's so good. Also mcgucket continuity regaining his sanity and I think the laptop says 21hrs not days. Also personally I think the northwest ancestors made a deal with bill before leading to that tapestry. And thinking of dipper and pacifica together is awesome.....ALSO PLEASE DONT LOOK AT THE TITLE OF THE NEXT EPISODES ESPECIALLY 11 AND 12

Loved Grenda in this episode!!!!
That's why Pacifica is a good match for Dipper (also she's rich) xD
I feel like they're always going to have that "making fun of each other" dynamic, but it would most likely get more playful. That would lead to hilarious interactions we didnt know we needed and an overall less sappy/lovey-dovey relationship that really doent fit Dipper's character. There's a lot of tension between the two of them because they are such polar opposites, but deep down, they work for each other :))
Remember: that this show is very specifically set in the summer of 2012. The end times are fast approaching indeed.
That’s a very good point
But the Mailbox said the world would end in 3012, so we'll be fine I'm sure!
I was actually thinking about that when I was editing. I couldn’t recall an episode that didn’t have those two in it
Is this the only episode not to have Alex Hirsch then?
@@CyberBlastoise No because Alex voices McGucket (i also wouldn't be surprised if he voiced some other side character/s in this episode XD )
@@BlackMew13 I totally forgot he voices McGucket
@@CyberBlastoise He voices so many Characters in this show it can be hard to keep track of them all XD
The bell ringing is a form of conditioning, and is actually classified as a kind of abuse.
It legitimately had everything. It’s top five for me for sure
I’m very happy Pacifica has been given this huge redemption arc
wait the secret agents make appearances too? i never notice that!
@@hanzaril Yup, they sure are. They're hidden in the audience during Sock Opera, you can see them very briefly in the mall during Soos and the Real Girl and I think Soos drives past them in Society of the Blind Eye. They *might* also be at the Woodstick Festival somewhere? But I'm not sure about that one.
Their presence is also being hinted at by the cipher of end end card from The Love God:
At the play or at the fair,
I always see them standing there.
Dressed in black they're on my lawn,
but when I turn my head they're gone.
When dipper turned to wood, he did the same pose as the shapeshifter in into the bunker.
I could watch Dipper and Pacifica banter for an hour and still not be bored. They just...work.
Another amazing episode so much lore happens, and…. Dipcifica???
We know that Matt supports it since in Amphibia one of the codes is dipcifica4life.
@@owenfautley that’s amazing
@@Droseph101 There are also bits in the books in the lost legends there is another dipcifica adventure and in the journal 3 there is a scribbled out writing from dipper saying that there might be a vibe going on and mabel acknowledges it is a roses are red rhyme.
@@owenfautley yes I know and I love it I was really happy when she hugged dipper in lost legends.
This is the way
I love this episode. It made pacifica amazing and introduced one of the most out of nowhere ships (dipper and pacifica, aka dipcifica) that in one episode ended up being the best ship in the whole show imo
It honestly makes sense
This is the way.
@@MikeyVenture yeah 😥
Eh, I've never really been a fan of the enemies to lovers trope and it's a little underdeveloped for me but you do you
I'm gonna say: your video's are underrated. No kidding, the atmosphere is great, the reaction is always genuine and nice to listen to. Your commentary at the end is worth sticking around for. This channel is so fun, i'm happy you have a small following because your content is worth it.
This seriously made my day! Thank you so much for the kind words. I put a lot of work and effort into these videos, so I’m glad people are enjoying them
I second it. Your reactions are really wonderful and genuine and I look forward to when they come out, not just because I’m excited to see how you feel about it but because I know it will also make me happy, I’ll smile and I’ll have a great time watching it. Which is honestly the best!
Gravity falls: *Is a kids show*
Also Gravity falls: *Shows Blood coming out of every orifice of decapitated animal heads*
I swear this show is the modern generation's Courage the Cowardly Dog when it comes to the horror elements 😂
When I got instant Evil Dead vibes from the animal heads, then I knew I was in for a ride
2:09: I love how Dipper is kinda famous for hunting down the supernatural now. What a character development.
Fun fact, dipper got turned too wood in the same fashion that the shapeshifter said he would “perish”
I really love Pacifica in that lake foam green dress though! I wish she kept it 💙
Non of you are realizing that part of Dippers exorcism chant is “Ain’t afradus no ghostus” as in “I ain’t afraid a no ghosts”?😂 It’s hilarious!!!
I love this episode so much! So excited for what's coming. And little me was SOLD on Dipcifica, it's definitely a huge ship amongst fans and they're very cute here~
It's also great to see you recognize Pacifica's development.
Jokes on all of y'all, I shipped Dipper and Pacifica long before this episode. Lemme tell you this episode was a treat for me XD
Yeah, there’s a timer, which does make the next episode seem like a big deal, but the next episode may not be what it seems.
(Note: I saw your comment about recording the episode already, but I couldn’t resist that one) 😁
"Hey, ugly!"
Rooting for a character I used to hate is probably my favorite thing when they manage to pull it off.
Hey mike, the pose where dipper was turned to wood, was the EXACT pose the shape shifter made when he told dipper “this will be the last form you ever take! **in dippers voice** AHHH”
This is probably one of the best episodes in the series!!
Loved the reaction!! This ep was one of the peak gravity falls out there. The character development, the mystery, the horror, the humor and that ending!
Cant wait for the next ep!!
I’m not sure how prerecorded these are but if you haven’t seen 11 yet it’s literally the best episode of animation to ever air on tv
Actually recorded 11 and 12 already!!!
Idk if I'd go that far but it is a great episode
Arcane episode 3 tho?
Ngl I think it’s the best but it’s actually not my fave, my personal fave is S2E17
@@lukefiore9613 oh, interesting choice! That is a great ep, of course; I just don't often hear people say it's their very favorite!
But you don't want to flick the noses of multiple Austrians or else they'll steal yours
wait wha- ?!??
Wendy is a descendent of the lumberjack ghost and the workers who died making the mansion that were buried were moved down hill due to mud slides unknowingly ending up were the Mystery Shack was which a certain Dipper revived on karaoke night probably. Just some things not mention in the show but the real life copy of book 3
Great reaction! What an amazing episode! I loved Pacific's development! And that ending is so hype!
Ohh...amazing episode, everything about it is great
I’ve literally just been refreshing for the last hour just to see if the premier countdown thumbnail for episode 11 has popped up yet. I’m so hyped lol!
Friendly reminder that this is a Disney show. Alex Hirsch and co. got this aired on Disney networks.
If that's not a power move, then I don't know what is.
Anyway yes, Dipcifica OTP.
I like that when the guests first arrive u can see the agents with them
Don't know if anyone else has pointed this out, but Pacifica's dad says there's enough food for him, Pacifica and the butler before they eat the butler. He never mentions Pacifica's mother in that list. Just a little detail to make you hate him even more.
As if obsessive classism and operant conditioning via bell wasn’t bad enough
i am SO excited for you to finish the series! i've really enjoyed your reactions so far compared to the other channels reacting to gravity falls currently :)
Yeah it seems they just see her as a prop rather than their daughter. It’s very sad
Fun fact: the Shapeshifter predicted Dipper's last form when he turned into wood
I'm not a shipping person, but even I kinda rooting for Dipper and Pacifica myself
They really do match much better than Dipper-Wendy, and not just because they're somewhat of the same age.
Disagree

One piece of continuity I think no one thinks about is that newspaper. Remember that before this the Society of the Blind Eye would stop stories like this from getting out.
This is one of my favorite Matt Braly directed episodes in Gravity falls. He is now the EP of Amphibia which imo, has gotten just as good as Gravity falls.
Edit: Matt won an Annie for “Outstanding Achievement in Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production” for this episode.

Haha thanks! I’ve been loving the horror vibes this show can bring
This is the episode that makes me ship Dipper x Pacifica because how good they worked together
Eh maybe if they got more than just one episode together totally
It's a canon ship. Tho I would have loved if they focused more on her in the later episodes and show Dipper and Pacifica more since they were pretty great together

This episode will give you a hint of what you'll be expecting
Prepare for the best and biggest plot twist/cliffhanger in cartoon history
This episode is by far top 5 to me
My thoughts:
CIPHER UPDATE: The key word, “CURSED” can be seen hidden in the windows outside the mansion when it’s raining.
To be specific, I would have said something like this,
“I was right about you all along!
As always thanks for the ciphers! And I really can’t wait for you all to see the next two reactions

It's been YEARS since I've seen any of the Ernest movies - or actually found anyone who watched them! I used to watch them with my dad. Hey references are fun - and can be a great nostalgia bomb :D
While I hate Pacificas parents I can appreciate that they got Nathan Fillion to voice her dad. Seriously (I saw some people pointed out that the post Dipper took was the one that the shapeshifter said would be his last form - if Pacifica DIDN'T Step up? That would have been it right there.)
dipcifica is the best ship in the entire show and you can't tell me otherwise
I wasn’t sure at first, but I’m all for it
Oh hey, remember the first episode of this season? Now look back at the lumberjack's story, with the price paid for building the mansion, and then how the man had died. Now you know where the zombies came from, and how they reached the area near the shack, where they emerged from after Dipper summoned them. :)
14:57: Remember what the shapeshifter predicted?
So now you know where all the zombies came from in 2x1.
I love how this show is so good at calling back things from previous episodes

Love when they tie things up like that
This isn't just a cursed mansion episode, in the secret painting room the Northwest's we're crossing their fingers when shaking hands with a native chief, that is a clear reference to how the elite of America and evan the American government itself reinstated on deals and didn't uphold their end of the bargain and mistreated and expelled the natives. And so much More
Yeah I noticed all the paintings. It’s horrible
And some people still think this show is only meant for kids.

Champagne, smoking, love, blood and gost . I love this épisode !
