Lovely documentary on the trip to Sandakphu. I have been to Sandakphu many a times but have never been blessed by snow. This (video) was a real experience of snowy, white Sandakphu. Thank you for sharing.
Hello, I did this trekking from Darjeeling to Sandakphu in Dec 1973 as an eighteen year old lad. There was nothing at Sandakphu at that time. Only a trek route and a dilapidated wooden silk-route days inn with bunk beds to spend the night, free of cost as no one was there to receive money from us. But we enjoyed it so much with our college mates !

@@ArijitSen Thank you for your valuable suggestions😀. Planning for a trip actually. Your video is very helpful. Thank you for such an informative video 👍.
Yes..you may get snow cover also..if u r going by car, there should be no issues..it will be cold definitely. Hence have adequate warm clothes with yourself specially for the kid...if u r trekking, it may get difficult for the 5yr old to cover the long distance on foot.
Beautiful video and wonderfully explained. However, i think you chose the wrong time to do the trek as the grand views for which Sandakphu is famous for are not visible. Great video, Happy trekking 👍
Hi...thanks for viewing..yes due to excessive snow we could not reach Phalut...however, we did enjoy nice views of the Kanchenjunga range from Sandakphu. Happy trekking to you also.
yes early dec is good. there should not be heav snow, but will be cold. Sandakphu is a beginner trek. aut i will advise you to do same cardio exercises from now 5 days a week, if you are not doing anything.

Very well documented. I am planning myself to go on around end of Jan 2021 (24-25th). Few questions regarding this: 1) Is it a good time? 2) Which group did u go for the trek, any contacts?
Yes it is a good time. There should be good snow cover then. You should be prepared for extreme cold. I went along with my family. I took a local guide Tshering along with us. However many groups do it like India hikes, Himalaya trekkers to name a few big ones.
Dada...Trekking equipments like Gaiters, walking stick, etc we are getting for rent. But do we get these snow crampons as well somewhere? Or if we are required to buy...where do we get them?
I was wearing microspikes...usually the same is also available on rent with the people from where u got the others on rent...nahole you can buy on Amazon.. sometimes it is also available in Decathlon.
Thanks for all the details in the video. It's so beautifully made.👍 If I plan to go during 25th Dec then will it be a good time to see clear view? It would be very helpful if you reply 😊
see. it depends on weather conditions. best time to go is in Oct/ Nov, but it is difficult to get snow during this time. we went in 1st week of jan and got massive snowfall...you must understand that if there is heavy snowfall, it is bad weather, if it bad weather, you get stuck at one place like what happened to us. so if there is snowfall before you land there, you will be lucky.
Hi...I was using Trek 100 shoes from Decathlon..they are quite good for going through snow and rocky terrain...however you can use other trekking shoes as well..there are plenty of options..the ankle portion of the shoe must be hard and tough to prevent your ankle from getting twisted, if u land on any loose rock, pebbles.
Hey, I too had done Sandakphu Trek and used Trek100 that I purchased from Decathlon for nearly 3k (the offer was running). I would suggest not to compromise on the shoes if you aren't a seasoned trekker.
Hey thanks !! you can book from GTA offices at Kolkata or Darjeeling. you can also directly reach at the hut and book, but that is subject to availability. better to book beforehand.
Why dont you boost this post.. This is very informative. You should get more and more views. Love from Bangladesh dada.. I watched the entire video without any fast forward .
Microspikes manebhanjan e sure noy pawa jay kina .apni ekbar apnar guide k jiges kore nin..o better bolte parbe...Kolkata teo khoj nie dekhte paren if someone can lend
Nice video , i want to ask some information . Don't you book guide for trek if yes how much it cost ?? Your travel duration is changing as per weather how did you manage to book GTA rooms for your uncertain visit ??? And finally about gear do we need snowproof shoes or waterproof from where to purchase spike ???? And can you provide details of layering of clothes ????? Sorry for long questions
Hi..good to hear from you..I will answer one by one 1. The guy with the green jacket is our guide. In this trek the guide takes 1000 INR per day incl all. 2. We booked GTA rooms beforehand. The trek usually takes 6days to complete. We had extra 3days in hand. So we could adjust. but we did not get our money back for the bookings at phalut and gorkhey where we could not reach. During off season one can book after reaching the spot also. 3. You need both type.usually the Trek 100 shoes I am using is around 5500INR and is both snow proof and partially waterproof with excellent grip. I purchased the microspikes from Amazon. 4. In winters or summers u must have 3 layers...for winters I use from inside merino wool t shirt, fleece jacket, down jacket...in summers the same is repeated except the fact that during walking I use 2 layers and use the 3rd layer after reaching campsite.. Hope I could answer all ur questions...would love to hear from you again.
Watching this video from Bangladesh... Lovely work brother... I also had a trekking plan in Sandakphu this April, 2020. But alas! Covid-19! Hope to see this place soon...
Till last year there was no online portal for GTA hut booking...tour guides are available at the pass making office while entering singalila at manebhanjan. They used to take around 1000rs per day in 2020..not sure about the cost now. You can also pre book them while freezing your trek dates.
I need to back at njp from phalut. But i heard share car is not available from phalut. Please advice me what i do. Because my trek will going to end at phalut. Already i booked trekker hut and train ticket. So i worry. Guide me. Thank you..
Sir, when are you going, I mean which month ? In the winters, car cannot reach even sandakphu due to snow on road..however from Phalut you can come down to srikhola via gorkhey...from srikhola car is available..it will be tough to come down in one day as the distance is quite long...hence one stay at gorkhey will help.
It is extremely difficult to reach nip station from Phalut within one day if car is not operating. It will mean you have to start early morning from phalut, then reach a point where transport is available by at least 3pm so that you can reach station in time. Can’t see any other option.
Nice video bro im from bangladesh but now i living in dubai i plan to visit that place could u tell me how much could cost for family and what about safty and Security?
Hi...nice to know..there are no issues with safety and security as people of the hills are extremely cooperative and friendly...if you are trying to trek, then the cost depends on how many days you want to complete the trek in. for approx 6 days it will cost you around 15k per head with min 4 members, from siliguri all walking on foot during trek, ....if you are travelling by car, then the cost will go up. but staying options are same in both cases.

Is it ok to plan for beginners?? I'm planning around early December..I don't want heavy snow..
yes early dec is good. there should not be heav snow, but will be cold. Sandakphu is a beginner trek. aut i will advise you to do same cardio exercises from now 5 days a week, if you are not doing anything.
Salute guys!
thanks
Incredible journey. Thank you for sharing with us. Enjoyed every bit of it. Congratulations!
By the way, what camera/lens and trekking stick (make) you all have used?
Glad you enjoyed it! we have used Nikon D750 & D850 along with kit lense. Gopro 7. trekking pole we took from Decathlon.
@@ArijitSen thank you so much. Look forward to many such posts. Stay blessed!
Thanks sir

Thanks for viewing..will keep in mind regarding bengali vlogging.
Very well documented.
I am planning myself to go on around end of Jan 2021 (24-25th).
Few questions regarding this:
1) Is it a good time?
2) Which group did u go for the trek, any contacts?
Yes it is a good time. There should be good snow cover then. You should be prepared for extreme cold.
I went along with my family. I took a local guide Tshering along with us. However many groups do it like India hikes, Himalaya trekkers to name a few big ones.
@@ArijitSen Thank you Arijit da, may i get the contact of Tshering the local guide so that I may contact him for the trek

Thank you
Fantastic video.
Can u please suggest me name of a good tour operator to handle the full tour.
Thanks
If you are thinking of trekking then Tshering who was our guide is good enough.
@@ArijitSen Can you pls share his details. TIA

Can you help me with some contacts from where I may rent a microspike? Its not available with TTK (where I'm renting my other equipments).
Taking inspiration and ideas from your video for a trek in January. Can you tell what shoes you were using?
Hi...I was using Trek 100 shoes from Decathlon..they are quite good for going through snow and rocky terrain...however you can use other trekking shoes as well..there are plenty of options..the ankle portion of the shoe must be hard and tough to prevent your ankle from getting twisted, if u land on any loose rock, pebbles.
Hey, I too had done Sandakphu Trek and used Trek100 that I purchased from Decathlon for nearly 3k (the offer was running). I would suggest not to compromise on the shoes if you aren't a seasoned trekker.
amazing video!
Could you please tell me how you booked the GTA huts?
Hey thanks !! you can book from GTA offices at Kolkata or Darjeeling. you can also directly reach at the hut and book, but that is subject to availability. better to book beforehand.
From where can I buy microspikes in Siliguri/Kolkata?
I took it from Amazon. U may try at decathlon if they keep it, not sure though
Well it be favourable for first time trekkers?? In the month of Jan??
there should be snow...otherwise sandakphu is ideal for beginners...be ready for extreme cold
DARUN
Thanks

Nice video , i want to ask some information . Don't you book guide for trek if yes how much it cost ?? Your travel duration is changing as per weather how did you manage to book GTA rooms for your uncertain visit ??? And finally about gear do we need snowproof shoes or waterproof from where to purchase spike ???? And can you provide details of layering of clothes ????? Sorry for long questions
Hi..good to hear from you..I will answer one by one
Yes..let the situation get better..it has really hit the tourism industry badly.
Did you trekked through a company or alone planned ?
planned with family
I want to know what you wear around your calf and what is its name and cost and where i get it. Thank you..
I wear gaitors...it prevents snow from getting inside your shoes...u can buy it online. I took it from Decathlon stores...
Exact date ta kobe...?
Please janaben
Jan 1st week e gechilam
Can you book GTA trekkers Hut online?
Also what are the charges of Tour Guides and where can you book them?
@@ArijitSen I will go from Kolkata at 21 Feb. I will end trekking at palut on 26th feb. And next day is my return ticket.
It is extremely difficult to reach nip station from Phalut within one day if car is not operating. It will mean you have to start early morning from phalut, then reach a point where transport is available by at least 3pm so that you can reach station in time. Can’t see any other option.
@Arijit Sen What time of the year did you visit exactly? Is it December or January?
January beginning
In January end will we able to see the mountain peaks?
it depends on weather which is extremely unpredictable
Nice video bro im from bangladesh but now i living in dubai i plan to visit that place could u tell me how much could cost for family and what about safty and Security?
Hi...nice to know..there are no issues with safety and security as people of the hills are extremely cooperative and friendly...if you are trying to trek, then the cost depends on how many days you want to complete the trek in. for approx 6 days it will cost you around 15k per head with min 4 members, from siliguri all walking on foot during trek, ....if you are travelling by car, then the cost will go up. but staying options are same in both cases.
