- Extracting an early 70's Terex 82-40 bulldozer from where its been sitting for 15+ years. Using a Clarke Michigan 125 IIIa wheel loader and John Deere 5055e tractor for towing.
Love to see a younger generation saving the equipment that helped build this country. It may not be as economical, but it did it's job by pure Brite force, and was designed to be rebuilt time after time. Thank you.
Every time I hear a Detroit I’m reminded of being downtown with my grandma as a kid catching a bus😂
Hey , yes she is a Euclid or terex 8240 most likely a DA model . I have an AA model from 1966 . Wonderful machines , heavy , and rugged . Slower than cat but still very good . Yes you’re right the nitrogen is the spring . Use grease to release track tension . I’m guessing drain oil and renew . Fresh fuel bleed her up and as long as no water got into her she will fire right up . Good luck all the best from New Zealand
Thanks! Will make the attempt here one of these days
Looking forward to part 2!
Just found your channel and I'm looking forward to seeing that beast running
Still nothing posted
thx 4 the shop visit. kaa was my dog . sub'd and liked the dozer move
Great seeing you guys. Any time!
Long as you have good content like this bulldozer I watch every episode
Thanks for that! I appreciate it. I'm still sorta "getting into a groove" here with filming things. Mostly I just video stuff I'm doing anyway, so lots of different things. Limited heavy equipment stuff, but some here and there!
Will you soon have more content on this Bulldozer?
@@DrHilux It's definitely on my radar since it's now sitting in my yard like a 35 ton lawn ornament! By the end of the season I'll tear into it. Other priorities right now, but for sure I'll try cranking her up before too long.
That loader is a beast. 🙂
,, you guys are brilliant
Detroit Diesel, the most economical way to turn money into noise. From a heavy equipment mechanic of 40 yrs.
Yep, turning fuel into noise without the benefit of creating power.
Both of y'all are cry babies.
Best wracket ever listened to
Nice job.
Cool looking forward to future videos on it!
Thanks! Once this cold rainy weather breaks I hope to clean her up
Subbed! Like a bit of Detroit music.
Very cool I’m glad you are bringing RUclips along on this adventure so what year is that bulldozer
Good old Michigan payloader
They were junk, underpowered, and as slow of a machine as money could buy.
No update on the dozer after 1 year?
It should be a popular repair series if done
Somehow the old Michigans always seem underpowered to me.
There is nothing like the sound of a Detroit under load, lovely for sure.
When it comes time to work on the idler wheels and the track tensioners what I do is throw the screw threads away away and fit in ten ton Porta Power rams and fit a grease nipple in place of the hydraulic hose ( I chrome the piston rods first) this makes it the same most new equipment.
That's a good idea. I thought about something like that, but doesn't it need a spring in the tensioner to allow for debris getting in the track?
@@HeavyIronAcres you use the ram to compress the spring. instead of the screw jack.
@@HeavyIronAcres You leave the spring in place and only replace the screw thread, the spring still acts as a shock absorber and the ram adjusts the slack in the tracks
Great job guys! your going to have 2 sweet Detroits once your get the dozer going. Any clue what your going to need to do with the dozer to get it working again? I know a bit about Detroit Engines but not a whole lot about Dozers, the fact this this one rolled so well probably says some good thing about the driveline? Good luck and what a great adventure you have going here!
Tried for a day in fall... Did some rewiring and cranked it but seems to have lost Prime. Fires with a squirt of starting fluid. Not sure how to prime this exactly, but hopefully I'll get back to it this year
That Detroit sounds so good love I nice , do some more of those sounds in your vlogs , love love love it , thank you, good job , thanks BigAl California. Praise Jesus grace Christ amen BigAl.
Thanks! I appreciate that
A full bucket of earth would have helped improve traction immensely
True! Good thinking!
Good.
Up date video?
any update on pt2?
A friend and I spent a day on it, and unfortunately couldn't get the fuel system to Prime. I'm not sure what the future holds for this relic at this point. It's cold now and there are other properties, yet there it sits in the yard. Lol
Nossa beleza muito bom 👍👍
Interesting
You did well to pull that old dozer. It probably weighs 35 or 40 tons?......
I think it's in that neighborhood for weight. I wasn't sure it was going to roll. I was prepared to use it's running twin if the loader couldn't do it.
Is there a v6 2-stroke in the wheelloader?
Yes it is
15yeas?jcp
I'm wondering why you didn't pull it with the old green dozer that was in the other video ?
That was the backup plan! I needed the loader anyway to lift the blade so figured I'd give it a shot. The green Dozer batteries were out for the season so kept that as a contingency. Good question!
Wow-totally amazing!
Thanks!
Sad that you couldn't dump it in gear while towing it as that little bit might just make it easier to start off the pony engine.
Good thought! That machine has a torque converter though so may not be able to crank.
@@HeavyIronAcres That's a Euc dozer with an 8V-71engine. Electric start. NO pony.
Too much water in the fuel and filters
Why was the Terex left there for 15 years?
Dad got it for a big land clearing/grading job back in the 80s. Had the machine since then but mostly just sat. He never sold anything. Passed a few years ago.
Kawan baru hadir guys
Oh l forgot subtitles also help😀
Muito bom
Yeah you started off good then
it went down hill audio is shit
Loud then quiet up & down.
Please think about the
" hearing impaired people"
like me ( deaf) 😭
Audio quality was fine for me
Very dangerous hooking that chain around the ball like that. If that ball sheared off it would kill someone

73 gallons of fuel was burnt making this video.😏
lol Not far off! I try to only run the old heavy iron when its necessary - unless my 3 year old nephew shows up.
Não tyem legendas!!!Racista!
Looks like the end loader diesel creek rescued 2 weeks ago! I bet after operating that Clark all day you'd be deaf from the screaming Detroit!!😖🎧
It's close to his. This one's a 125 iiic which is a bit bigger and a Detroit. Yeah it's loud, but not near as loud as the old Terex with the straight 671! Good reliable iron though.
I worked on the Interstate highway builds back in the 1960’s with equipment like that, Very Load Motors
@@paulrichards2713 you definitely earned your paychecks that's for sure👍👍😵
@SLABDADDY 420 Diesel Creeks property is starting to look like a junkyard. I don't know how wives put up with all this junk, part truck bodies, etc.
@@rogerdickinson920 that's how this place looked while my parents were still here. Been cleaning up for over 3 years so far and still lots to do! Thanks for watching guys
A Detroit almost makes enough power to move it's own weight...almost.
You got to love those old Michigan payloaders

Subscribed. Love heavy equipment content.
Thanks! There'll certainly be some of that, and a little of everything else
Hi, could you sell me the bottom rollers of this bulldozer? Best Regards
Part 2 will be interesting.
Did u know why it was parked there looked like u knew it wouldn't drive.
It was dad's who used it for a big land clearing project around the late 80s. It was parked then not really needed since.
takkeherrie maakt die detroit diesel 1
awesome looking dozer.
Thanks! Hopefully it will run! I'll tear into it one of these days...
They sure got a sound them 6v53s I believe that's what hear gm tunes.
It is a 6V71 not a 6V 53.
Very bad move putting that chain on a tow ball
Thanks for your concern for my safety! Little risk in this particular situation but you're right. Not a good practice. This is not a tutorial!
Subscribed, Like the old Iron
Thanks!
Awesome content. What state are you in?
The great state of Ontario!
I subscribed i have backhoe 310 g
Thanks! We used to have an old Ford backhoe here on the farm. She's gone now, but it was a work horse for a couple decades
clarks got a lot of noise not much go
Yup, definitely a high noise/go ratio for sure!
