Heavy Iron Acres
Канада
Добавлен 13 фев 2008
Projects and things. Tractors, heavy equipment, firewood, saw-milling, etc. Sometimes when I'm doing a thing, I'll pick up a camera and video the thing. Life on a small farm in southern Ontario.
Fixing up an antique wheelhorse lawn tractor.
Lawn tractor rescue! We've had this mower since I was a kid, so figured we'd get it running. Sentimental value.

Sawing some more lumber

Its been cool! Taking advantage by attacking my huge pile of saw logs.
A quick fire pit install
Просмотров 2612 года назад
This was last year. Some family was coming over for July 1st fireworks, so decided at the last minute to improve and relocate my fire pit. I had an old concrete well section in the back 40, so used that. The benches are made from an ash log - not the best choice of wood for outdoor use btw!
A cottage weekend and a tree cleanup.

Work and play at a friend's cottage. Cleaned up a downed tree, transported it, milled it, brought it home. Some ATV riding etc. Sorry about the fuzzy mic appearing on screen! I think I have the problem solved going forward.
Fixing up an electric industrial car

Dirt bike trail blazing
Просмотров 8923 года назад
Making a new dirt bike/walking path through an unused and overgrown wooded area on the property. Using mostly a bobcat 322 mini excavator and a john deere 5055e tractor. Note: This is not a tutorial or safety video!
Gravel yard conversion. Finally!
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.3 года назад
I'm finally converting the equipment yard from dirt to gravel, and additionally making an area for the sawmill. This has been on my to-do list for many years, so its exciting to finally see it realized. The gravel is a bit thin, but I'll add more loads later in the season until I have a good thickness. Using the Clarke-Michigan 125 iiic, and John Deere 5055e with a box blade.
Box blade talk

Talking about my box blade. Its a cheaper one (MK Martin I think), but I've been reasonably happy with it since I addressed a serious issue it had.
Bucket rehab - mini X bushings
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
Welding a new bushing into the hinge joint on a mini excavator bucket. After filming the video I realized that part of the reason for the failure was that there were no tabs to prevent the pin from turning independently from the bucket. It should ONLY hinge on the stick where the grease is injected. I welded those on the next day. I still have the curl bushings to do, but its useable now. A pri...
Terex dozer rescue part 1: The recovery
Просмотров 200 тыс.3 года назад
Extracting an early 70's Terex 82-40 bulldozer from where its been sitting for 15 years. Using a Clarke Michigan 125 IIIa wheel loader and John Deere 5055e tractor for towing.
50 year old Drott excavator startup
Просмотров 45 тыс.3 года назад
Cold starting our 40 EC Drott excavator (20 ton). Powered by a 4-53 detroit diesel. This unit was my dad's. He used it to dig a pond on the property, and that was about it. I pulled it out of retirement a few years ago to dig out a huge stump from beside the shop. Its done a LOT of sitting for the 20 years we've owned it. I've personally only run it maybe 6-8 hours. So little in fact that I'd f...

Taking a ride in a friend's '21 Ranger northstar crew edition to a nearby property cleanup job with lots of old iron hidden in the woods.
stihl 064 oil pump hack
Просмотров 3 тыс.3 года назад
Modifying a cloned oil pump for an MS660 to work on an 064AV Stihl chainsaw. I'm sure this could be done with a hacksaw and a drill. The saw was bogging out due to the chain overheating and tightening up under load from lack of oil. I realized I had some wonky framing towards the end of this video, so re uploaded it. Sorry!
Cherry chop
Просмотров 2633 года назад
Our neighbor graciously allowed me to cut a cherry for the sawmill from his woodlot. Many of them seem to be affected by something that attacks the bark, so I tried to choose one that was affected but still had solid lumber. I haven't milled cherry before, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Ashton Manor - Stings by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4...

η καλυτερη εφευρεση τα τελευταια εκατο χρονια!!!
Seeing that old 79 ford and cool van get crushed😢i would have at least saved the old hubcaps off the van😢
Aside from the ends possibly being colder then the middle and the possibility of inconsistent charcoal I really like it.
great stuff, ive been looking at the wc88 or the tf810. how are you liking your 88 after a few years? any issues? new subscriber
Winner! Thanks for the video, that helped me out heaps.
Do you have any idea how much that hood was worth
How much time to firing take pls
That is pyrolytic oil, it is very precious !
Very cool setup! How’d that 55gal drum hold up over time?
That water is turpentine I suppose
Like this design better than mine because you can redirect water vapor and collect tar! Nice video
Best retort I’ve seen so far 👍🏼
Thanks for sharing fun to watch
Is that an old bridgeport J head mill?
That's too bad that it's not a garden tractor instead of a lawn tractor.
You should really try to keep everything on that little tractor original! Antiques lose a lot of their historic value when you start upgrading or modernizing them! Since you are determined to butcher it, you should just sell it to somebody who can restore it and retain its historic value!!!
That's not a plug that you put on the front of the seat. It's called an inlet. Because unlike an outlet you're letting power go into that circuit.
Good day, great video and thank you for sharing this great idea. I have the barrel placed vertically, but I have problem with the gasses leaking on the lid, but my ring for the lid has no screws, it is just a regular ring, so I place mud in the lid cannel. So, do you just screw the ring on the lid, or do you add maybe clay or mud in the lid cannel to seal it more tight? Thank you kindly for your time and answer, and I am sending you very best regards.
Looks like a great system.
Love it Man!
Love to see a younger generation saving the equipment that helped build this country. It may not be as economical, but it did it's job by pure Brite force, and was designed to be rebuilt time after time. Thank you.
I just bought a John Deere 3025E and am needing advice on how to remove small pieces of scrap metal, tires, wires, etc located in deep grass. The only attachments I have is a front bucket and a bush hog
Every time I hear a Detroit I’m reminded of being downtown with my grandma as a kid catching a bus😂
That started up ace what a good old detroit
Nice hack job
Nice!
Brilliant!
Good old dozer but I think I'd want to fix the exhaust leaks before using it too much.
I was The practical one of a three sibling Family pre- cast business. I inherited a very lame JCB loading shovel that was 15 years old and a worn out under spec liability! We had no money in 1988 but I asked my contact to look out for a cheap but bigger replacement..on the understanding that it be a stop gap for a couple of years He found one for £4000; A 1968 Michigan 125; It needed only a good servicing and minor parts for the 10 years we had it- Unbelievable In the end the round the clock Leyland diesel died ( no compression) and the Clark transmission, Diff and final drive were incredibly still good. Such well made top quality came out of Michigan
Sounds like the transaxle quieted down after you added the gear oil. I flushed mine with kerosene (same thing you did) drove it a couple times with the Kero and got the nastiness out. Used 85-140 or w/e the specified oil is and felt good about it after. There is a special gear oil to use for the brass in the trans if I remember correctly gl-5? I forget but good to keep it clean!
275 gallon oil tank FYI!!!!
I'm curious how many burns this set up lasted? I can see the larger barrel lasting quite a while but the 45 gallon drum I would think would burn out after 20 burns or so.
Sounds like you have an airleak on your powersaw if not in need of some carb adjustment
I have an outdoor boiler with a huge firebox, so I just shove a metal pail inside full of wood. The escaping gases and tars burn and help heat the water.
You've introduced me to a whole new world. Kinda envious watching you "play with the big toys." Made me feel like your young fella driving the rig. You made my day. Txs for sharing.
Nice build. I’m jealous.
What ever happened to this channel
We want you to be a great role model
Nice
its a 1960s wheel horse suburban
Good design! Catch the creosote that drips out of the wood gas tube to treat fence posts.
That poor gradall
incredible, intellectually fantastic design! i look forward to trying something similar in the near future
Why do people so often park their garbage and fence rows like that?
I know the family I am friends with them
Nice kiln. you should check out making "wood vinegar" on youtube, it sells for $70-80 a gallon and you are just dumping it on the ground. great job on building it.
