      @@Fettman07 The 3 point line is a valid point when comparing Wilt to MJ or Kobe, but isn't relevant at all when comparing Wilt to Shaq because Shaq could barely hit a free throw let alone a 3 pointer. For the whole decade the average was around 120 possessions per game whereas in the late 90s to 2000s pace was at an all time low and during that time possessions never went above 95 possessions per game. Basically when Wilt played there was more possessions which means more points, more rebounds and more assists. Don’t get me wrong, Wilt was great but he was probably only statistically better because of the high pace during the 60s.

    • @meadbert
      @meadbert 3 года назад +30

      @@colintainter4856 Chamberlain played against REALLY good competition. In 1967, he won a championship and MVP. There were 5 teams in the East and these centers were on those teams:
      1) Chamberlain himself
      2) Bill Russell
      3) Willis Reed
      4) Jerry Lucas
      5) Walt Bellamy
      Note that Bellamy and Reed both played for the Knicks and the 5th place team did not have a great center, but basically Chamberlain was matched up against a Hall of Famer most of the time. He lead his team to a 68-13 record which at the time was the best record in the history of the NBA.
      He averaged 24 points, 24 rebounds and 8 assists a game while shooting a ridiculous 68% from the field and this was during an era when field goal percentages were much lower than today.
      For a 7'1 center to finish 3rd in the league in assists is crazy good. IMHO Chamberlain is better than Shaq and I say this as someone who thinks that Shaq was outstanding and one of the all time greats.

    I have a seven foot uncle and he’s the tallest person I’ve ever seen. I look like a midget next to him. Oh yeah and when I was little I would walk up to him look up at him and fall over because of how tall he was.

      But Wilt was 7'2 right?
      I think Wilt should be here unless he is as tall as Kareem, as it is debatable who is better between the 2 (kareem 6 mvps, 6 nba titles) although i think Wilt was better individually over Kareem.

      In an era with 8 teams. And all the people guarding him were tax accountants. His stats would be cut by more than half if he played in the modern era

      @@UntilMakaveliReturns I don't get how the fact that there were only 8 teams made it easier for Wilt to score, tell me.
      If that was this easy, tell me why Wilt was the only one scoring that much.

      Simon there have been better players with better training and better nutrition. So either no one is as good as Wilt ever or his competition in the early stages of the nba wasnt that good. I tend to assume that somebody shouldve been able to replicate his numbers. Since they havent i look at his competition.
