For the whole decade the average was around 120 possessions per game whereas in the late 90s to 2000s pace was at an all time low and during that time possessions never went above 95 possessions per game. Don’t get me wrong, Wilt was great but he was probably only statistically better because of the high pace during the 60s.

He lead his team to a 68-13 record which at the time was the best record in the history of the NBA. He averaged 24 points, 24 rebounds and 8 assists a game while shooting a ridiculous 68% from the field and this was during an era when field goal percentages were much lower than today. For a 7'1 center to finish 3rd in the league in assists is crazy good. IMHO Chamberlain is better than Shaq and I say this as someone who thinks that Shaq was outstanding and one of the all time greats.
