    We were just walking down the street one day, my husband and I, chatting about whatever. Suddenly he turns to me and smiles and says "I like you." and I dunno why, maybe it was the way he said it, maybe I was just in a sentimental mood, but it struck me as the sweetest, most touching thing he could have ever possibly said to me.
    Don't get me wrong, we tell each other we love each other very regularly, but I guess in that moment I suddenly realized that he didn't just love me as his wife, but liked me as a person.
    I guess it's weird, and hard to grasp what the difference means, but I think our marriage works so well because we don't just love each other, but we like each other too.

      The sweetest moments are those simple kindnesses that come out of the blue, all of the big moments will bring a smile but it's those small things that bring tears to the eyes. At the end of my first disaster of a marriage my wife and I had the opportunity to talk to a marriage counselor and he told us something that we ignored at the time that actually made the most sense in hindsight. "You can never be in a truly healthy relationship if you are not in a healthy place yourself." In other words, if you have personal things you have not dealt with yourself, those things will get in the way of a good relationship.
    What I have seen of you and your wife, you do have interests in common, which is helpful, but you two seem to be in a good place by yourselves. You do not have individual burdening issues that you have to deal with. Small things sure, but they are not an issue with you guys.
    Self-confidence, self-worth, mistrust of others, the list could go on and on with issues that get in the way of healthy relationships. Your relationship is working because you guys have your shit together, basically.

    • @VioletEmerald
      @VioletEmerald 2 года назад

      Yeah exactly, i think almost any relationship can work if BOTH people - key word BOTH - are emotionally healthy enough, but if one person is not healthy enough to handle basic life stuff and basic relationship stuff and doesn't have a secure attachment style, let alone both of them struggle with it, the relationship is not likely to work out. And SO many seemingly emotionally healthy adults really aren't. It seems like there are way more traumatized and unhealed people out there than healthy ones, especially when it comes to people who aren't already in healthy monogamous dating or marriage relationships and are still available to date you at ages 30 to 35.... It's all just a mess trying to find a relationship that works and is goals like this.

    "Even with all the ways that we complement each other, if we stopped wanting to make it work, it wouldn't work anymore." You guys hit the nail on the head. You forgot that you’re both humorous! I credit my happy marriage to humor. We laugh & joke everyday. We have so many inside jokes and think each other are hilarious. I see that in you two as well. We don’t take ourselves so seriously, and that makes the relationship much more enjoyable.

    it is obvious that she likes to handle and manage things, and he really doesn't care (not necessarily in a bad way). And since this is her personalityi him not caring doesn't bother her. I mean I would be furious if I had to plan and do everything while the other person is like "whatevs" :D

      What's nice about it is when one person has a strong opinion and the second person doesn't, but legitimately doesn't--isn't going to sit there fuming because they REALLY did have an opinion but they were just trying to seem nice and let the first person have their way. THAT sucks, but having an easygoing person who is just happy to be with you doing stuff is very nice.

    I watched every single video you made right before you met China because you were the very model of a tangible youtube success story imo. By the time i finished she was already making appearances. I was happy for you’re success and heart warmed that you found someone that seemed to compliment you. I can’t properly express how happy I am to find all these years later that you are still doing well both on YT and with China. You’re nostalgia that got better with time. Thank you for everything you do.

    Love the main message of this video, something that my partner and I live by: if you want it to work, then try to make it work. Everyone nowadays is always looking for instant gratification but sometimes it takes a long time to build something and maintain it. Also loved the eagle punch, makes me nostalgic and remember the years I watched Wheezy a longgg time agoo.

    My ex-wife is the best. Sadly I took too much for granted, stuff I never even thought about during our 15 year marriage. Then I started working a lot, like 60+hrs/week, which also did not help. Sadly many thing are not discovered until it's too late. Being able to sit down and dig into what is working and not is very valuable. Thanks for a great video.
