    I didn't care about my clothes until i was like.. 27. I went shoe shopping and realized i didn't have to buy a size up, because my feet weren't growing anymore (as of like 12 years before i guess? lol). I could buy a size down, and I was in control of that. I was in control of buying my own clothes. I could buy what was ideal for me, instead of just whatever's there. Bought some new pants that day that fit AMAZING (Thanks Wrangler), and of course looked nice imo. I then went home, sorted my closet of nice shirts that i liked, and ones that i didn't. Organized it by everyday and stylish so i didn't have to think about which to put on when. Something broke in me that day, and i became a normal human being. XD;

  • @TinyHouseExpedition

I have just done the same things just recently, purchased new clothes, mostly because I've been broke for so long. I purchased nice new jeans, button ups and really nice sneaks. I have a HUGE torso and always broke that up with a graphic tee shirt. It needed to change. It does make me feel good about myself wearing nicer fitting clothes. Most recent I changed from long, past the knee shorts, to above the knee! Who knew I had sexy man legs!? I do have to disagree with Chyna about the pajama/jogging pants. I don't go out of the house in jogging pants or gym shorts ever. Maybe on the way home from the gym If I need gas but otherwise NOPE. Pajamas.

One remark for the final touch:
After your clothes, think about your hair. Keep it well groomed.
Especially your hair on your head makes you look like an old man (I have the same problem). Keep it short and shaven, will make you look younger, especially with your new clothes.

I helped my partner realise that they do in fact have fashion opinions in the last year or two! They love bright colours and comfort over style, and I think society tells you that those aren't valid opinions to have... But I'm like "let's lean into it!! Your favourite tee is tie-die, let's get you more tie-dye!" And "you love bright pants! Let's try to find them in all your favourite colours at the op-shop!". I did buy them some new magenta corduroy pants though cause they LOVE magenta. Now they look at their clothes and get excited about wearing them :~)
(I also got them into buying slightly expensive underwear because I bought them a couple of pairs for Christmas and then they realised how much better they were than the cheapest possible brand 😅)

He has been educating some of us on proper footwear. :) Maybe do a video on hats?! I love hats, but never wear them due to self-consciousness. Two of my favorite hats is a Hamburg and a nice felt porkpie.

What a great video, Wheezy. As usual. I love how Chyna said she does not like buying new clothes when she can avoid it. I am the same!!!
And I laughed out loud when you said "well... calm down." after the "WHAT'S the DEAAAAL" joke. I mean, I guess calm down was part of the joke too, but just hilarious how you tone-changed so quickly. Love it.
Would you mind if I go back and leave timestamps if I don't see them in your older videos? I like them because I rewatch a lot of your videos, and timestamps are useful, for me at least. Thanks for great content. CONTENT!(confetti)

I found it perfect that when you were discussing the process in the beginning, you said it would be a 'journey' and then you ended up shopping at a store called Journeyman.

I went shopping with my brother last week as his birthday present. First we went through his current wardrobe and had to throw away 1/4th of the clothes because they were so old or had holes in them, a lot more clothes we gave to goodwill.
I also went the route of a capsule wardrobe! Very basic clothes, jeans, dress pants, sweathers, tshirts etc all very neutral + that you can combine with anything so my brother doesn't have to worry about fashion. I never make him buy something he's not sure about or is too much out of his comfort zone because he'll just never wear it
It's nice to see him wear those clothes every day, it's a job well done!

Almost 33 and I still wear mostly black. I look like someone trying to still dress like he used to from highschool, but I'm comfortable in those clothes. It's tamer and not as wild as my 16 year old clothes (those tripp paints and chains and all). There is a call to want to dress nicer, but keep that black clad still the main point. I think a lot of people feel this at one point, but I'd like to keep that comfortable part along the way. It's interesting to try new things, but keep that spirit of familiarity. I never thought I'd see the day lol.

My poor wife has to deal with this all the time. I am the jeans and tee guy, all the time. Plus I can't stomach spending money on clothes and shoes, unlike my wife. I've done the closet purge, like 5 times. I still have too many tee's and old clothes that don't fit. Ugh.

SAME!!! UGH!!!!! I'm 40, newly single, 100% of the time solo parent of 4 kids. I've for sure got job interviews down the line and a new life to start - possibly making new friends (because the old ones didn't exist - abuse and control means no friends for me) ANYWAY! THANK YOU! I'm slowly starting to care. I do care ish. Part of it for me is valuing myself. Going from being a piece of property in a house to being a living breathing human who is worthy of self care/ mediocre ish clothing is CRAZY.
    HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

I'm quite confident that you are finding that SO MANY of us "dudes who just like t-shirts, jeans and sneakers" as our most primary wardrobe, uh, perhaps, number much higher than perhaps you expected😄. I'm definitely relating to this video, at 53! I'm quite a YOUTHFUL 53, of course.... Great style (no pun intended) and editing to this video- it was fun, and you and Chyna's (sp?) chemistry remains adorable, truly! So great that you find interesting adventures such as these to share with/experience and help each other complete. Seems very healthy. And just sayin', you , Sir, look more youthful now than in the much " older" videos🙃😉. Take care!

I’ve been wearing a “summer wardrobe” for like the last 10years.
When cold just wear a hoodie of your choice
When super cold wear one of those Eddie Bauer jackets. They do the trick 👍🏼

This was a good video, and the results are A+ objectively. Personally though, I like(d) your original style better. It's more you, and also IMO a bit more distinctive than just 'typical adult.' Also the statement about having the old car you could treat like crap and not care resonated SO MUCH! That's exactly how I feel about cars and lots of household items (clothes very much included). I don't want the responsibility (burden) of taking care of nice things. I'd frankly have something cheap I can treat with utter indifference. My philosophy is my things serve me, not other way around. Get with the program, things! Or get out, by break/tearing/wearing out if it comes to that.

On the scroll to the comment section, I saw "How to apologize to your cat: A vet's advice". Sounds very important and very related.
I am so down with this concept: "not have the decision fatigue but you'll look nice."
A few years ago bought all black pants (kinda bougie hiking/travel pants that are comfortable, durable, easy to clean, don't stink if you don't wash them... often). And grey t-shirts (same concept). Only I realized that grey is not a good color when you sweat. Don't want to wear all black. Maybe patterned shirts will help. I don't like the decisions involved in buying button down shirts. Different fits, different patterns...
Maybe should just stick with t-shirts and a summer hoodie. Only the last one wore out and... I hate everything. Why can't I just clone the things I like?

I'm with WW. I hate shopping. HATE IT. TO the point that one of my favourite shirts was *literally* given to me 15 years ago by a friend who was moving and didn't want it anymore. I LIVED in that shirt. For 15 years. And just recently I got bleach splashes on it. Nooooooooooooo.
    Sigh.
So anyway. I'm with WW. Shopping is dumb and stupid and I hate it.

I retired several years ago, so I haven't seen what people are wearing in the business world (and of course it all depends on what part you're talking about) for a long time, but we were doing business in what passes in this area for 'a big city' and in a restaurant, I saw guys wearing suits, topcoats and carrying briefcases. Holy Ned! And it wasn't even NYC or Philly or Boston or someplace like that. I thought men threw that level of dress over the side when Dockers were invented (I used to work with engineers and the level of dress was frankly abysmal). And my husband said to me (he's retired as well), 'You know, I sort of miss dressing up like that; I always felt like I looked really GREAT when I had a suit, tie and nice shoes. ' I think we need to go shopping.
