    An impressively creative person was inspired and an amazingly awesome project was conceived. A dancefloor was created and boogieing was enjoyed. A video was narrated and the passive voice was almost exclusively used. The right to be proudly described in the active voice had most definitely been earned.

      Haha! I felt that if I said 'I', i'd be implying that it was just me doing it, but it was so many volunteers helping, I don't want to discount their work.

    good thing you had all these Volunteers. The only reason this project was cheaper is because of volunteers. imagine you had to pay them wages. then buying these would have been cheaper.

    A really awesome job that you and your volunteers did. I've been to multiple cons and that dance floor was just making FE even more awesome regarding dances. Was really fun to film it with people dancing around on it too! You guys need to bring it back next year haha! (Also really funny to see how much the floor moved 5 feet+ from it's original location on the floor during the con xD Furries dances hard!)

    My only complaint with the finished product is you guys didn't have it in interactive mode long enough! I wanted to keep playing with it XD but it kept switching to preset patterns
    Suuuper cool build though, I had no idea it was made specifically for the con. I thought it was a rental, shows the quality of your work :D

    • @AvWuff
      @AvWuff  7 лет назад +3

      I'm glad you enjoyed it! We actually had a ton of interactive modes, but the main goal of the floor was to sync with the music and really integrate with the dancing experience. An operator (most of the time me) was running the floor the entire time, so every switch was a calculated decision.

    What kind of acrylic tiles did you use? Link maybe?

  • @gabiballetje
    @gabiballetje 6 лет назад

    Just calculate the cost.
    The materials, the work hours with so many people, the tools needed (though that cost could more easily be spread over more projects), time to program everything, then installing it.
    This is one hell of an expensive installation.
    And cool they did some extra effects on it, even 16 player dance dance revolution.
    And this thing is just awesome. You could even rent it out.

I'm pretty experienced in LEDs, lighting effects, and software, and I have done a few very similar projects, but I can't figure out how you used the switches for each "cell". Did you have 4 on each or just one? How did the little acrylic "boards" help/work? Anyway, really great work and I hope it's still getting use one year later!

    Hi guys, really awesome end product. You should be very proud of your accomplishment. I have a couple questions, if you could help me.
    1. Could we get more details on the 12v supply, like part #?
    2. Did orientation or order matter when you re-assembled?
    3. How did you keep the subpanels all locked in place? (An in-depth look at the sub panel mechanical design would be awesome)
    4. What was the LED layout of the end result? (One strip on each side of the square? If so, this is what you are referring to as virtual resolution?)
    I would love to make a scaled down version for House parties.
    Thanks for reading.

    • @cogsandglimmers
      @cogsandglimmers 6 лет назад

      Nothing at all Actually, the solution is a lot easier... Using smartphone friendly/compatible fabric for the pawpads, usually using thinner paws, or even just using "cheat" paws, which actually have fingers out, but hidden on the top. Though I guess it would be possible to use a bit of tech to make it easier, but those are some other options.
