That is an interesting idea in fact, maybe i could do a game where the character wanders through fractally generated worlds with random formulas and use a coordinate system to map where the character have to go.
The way out only exists because the camera render distance does down the further it zooms in. If you see the rainbow background there's usually still stuff there. The computer just doesn't calculate it because it would take too much time.
since this is a purely mathematical object, if you were really inside it you would also be able to travel in four dimensions, so you could easily get out :)
@d0g3r 1up5 you can move around a 3d fractal without shrinking down into levels of detail, no? I'm thinking in general here. I have no idea what a Mandlebox is. First time I've heard of it.
Now just imagine here for a minute that we aren't zooming in , but we are falling. It's almost maddening seeing yourself fall down into this place and never be able to touch anything because you just fall deeper into whatever you go towards. You can never touch anything, everything is the same distance away from you.
Maxim Gwiazda actually, it was zooming, and panning, and moving, all at once. Also a similar effect would happen if you fell in and we applied gravity, as you'd be pulled all over the place on your way to the core, but be unable to hit things because they're more empty than an atom and scale is fluid...
TheApexSurvivor given the emptiness inherent in the calculation the mass of a human body would probably generate more gravity in the locality. I think any one person's presence would cause the construct to annihilate. Now if there were only away to calculate the mass of non corporeal consciousness...
Thomas Prislac I would assume it acts like atomic structures, so that it is equally attracting and repelling everything within it, and that due to the way certain forces propagate through the structure it holds its form. Adding the Ant-Man (shrinking and growing through an microstructure) doesn't actually change much as they would be held in the centre most section of any given passage and would be repelling and attracting the structure in such a way that it would appear to be viewed through a distorted lens, but any change they made would revert as they moved on... (I have a bad head cold atm, so if I don't make any sense, that's probably why...)
