Back when I played Ancient Gears at locals, I always had a single copy of Spell Gear, specifically so I could say *_"NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPELL INQUISITION!"_* on the rare occasion where I could activate it.
I have a mayor soft spot for these big hecking machines, don't know why but the idea of using gigant automatons from times forgotten to punch really hard just sounds funny. Oh how crowler in japanese says "antique gear gorem" just makes me smile
My favorite little side interaction with ancient gears is if you chain the effect of ancient gear reborn to the destruction effect of Megaton Golem you get ultimate and Megaton back onto the field at the same time
Absolutely can't go wrong with Ancient Gear Golem... but the satisfaction of summoning Chaos Ancient Gear Giant and wiping the enemy board is just super satisfying. Can't wait to give the new cards a shot!

He is an expert with the deck. Saying otherwise is part of the messing around. As for "weaker opponents" that technically true but weaker opponents implies most named characters and for the unnamed chaff he doesn't use mind games (with his deck anyway) and still uses predaplants. He's also heavily implied to be compelled to use Starving Venom. Especially when other Zarcs are around.
That duel is okay, but I still despise it, for 3 reasons. It's naked product placement for the Machine Reactor Structure Deck; there was no real reason for it, especially given we were already well aware of Yuri's superiority complex. While Asuka puts up a good fight, the end result is that she's dealt a humiliating defeat in one of her two duels in the show--the only other having been against some nobody mooks. It's both insulting to her as a legacy character and a betrayal of the impression her entrance duel was meant to send. They animated this entire duel when the only relevant thing is that Yuri has Super Polymerization, and then subsequently show us almost NOTHING of Yugo vs. Yuri despite presaging it in the OP. How in the world does that make sense? TL;DR - I won't and I don't begrudge anyone for liking the duel, and I very much like Reactor Dragon and its cohorts, but that point in Arc-V was one of the worst possible places to include it.
Funny story I heard once. Two friends were playing YuGiOh, one on a Super Heavy Samurai deck, the other on an Ancient Gear. AG player has Chaos Ancient Gear Golem on board, and would have game next turn since the Super Heavy Samurai player had an empty field. And what did he draw, Battleball ofc. He made sure it was level 10 and just uneffected from spells and traps. "I snyc my level 2 Super Heavy Samurai Battleball with *your* level 10 Chaos Ancient Gear Golem to make Super Heavy Samurai Steam Train King!" And he swung for game. AG player," Did you just YuGiOh top deck me?" lol
Ancient Gears where my first ever real yugioh deck my senior year of high school. I just bought the Machine Re Volt structure deck and my friend gave me a copy of knight, beast, and fist and I loved playing that deck
The fact that the Ancient Gears have crossover with the Gadgets, ie; one of Yugi's signature cards, has always felt like in has some weird and funny in-universe implications for DM and GX. Like are the Ancient Gears an in-universe evolution of the Gadget series? Was YUGI involved in their development in some way? Did Yugi actually USE Ancient Gears at some point post-DM? Does this imply that Crowler somehow KNOWS Yugi or was inspired by him in some way?
I love the ancient gear archetype. Ancient gear golem was such a strong boss monster, they and cyber-dragons awoke my love for machine decks. And I like Crowler, so I will give you all a fun-fact about him: In the german dub, Crowler is voiced by the same voice-actor than Spongebob squarepants. The voices weren't even that different, which made many german People laugh.
I remember the time in middle school, back when Gadetron Dragon was new, I played against my friend and it came down to the wire with a few hundred LP each. I had said dragon, and he managed to bring out Blue Eyes Shining Dragon, thinking there was nothing that could stop him. Then he attacked into limiter removal. It was a good time.
27:17 I just thought of something funny. Fusion summon howitzer to use its effect, normal summon the level 2 infinitrack monster and use its effect to overlay the two monsters to summon Gustav for more burning.
Imagine if Gadjiltron became a full-fledged sub-archetype, bridging the gap between Ancient Gear and the Gadget deck. Opening such a wide variety of deck building potential would be so overwhelming interesting!
I really didn’t like how Arc-V made the Ancient Gears an evil Archetype, because completely spits in Crowler’s name. Sure he started off as a Bitchy Pansy and he didn’t like Jaden, but he gotten better overtime in the Show, and it showed that Crowler is a good person who cares for his Students, and he can use Ancient Gears for good. So it was a rather dick move Arc-V made Crowler’s Deck into an Antagonist Deck for a bunch of Genocidal Fascists that also spit in Duel Academy’s name.

At this point, Konami needs to release a new structure deck for ancient gears since they are getting a good amount of support lately. I feel that they more than deserve another structure deck. Love your channel. Keep up the amazing work.
Agreed ancient gear should get a second structure deck, but I seriously hope that konami use it as a excuse to release the hound fusion's and a hall tool box of new fusion's and other supporting cards. And I also konami could do what was done with the dark world archetype and release a unexpected curve ball with "colourless".
After spending way to long playing a Dollar Store Sharks/Water deck, and having the opportunity to randomly try these out, I have never looked back. Just the most Basic Old Man a Game of Yugioh can be, in the best way possible. No complications, No worries, Just Make the Big Robot, and Kill People with The Big Robot. Whats not to love.
Now that I think about it, if you were playing Ancient Gear Castle in a Ancient Gear Deck against Ritual Beast. Ritual Beasts would be playing in Ancient Gear Castle's favor as Ritual Beasts like to give their user Extra Normal Summons.
I still use this deck and though it has its ups and downs. I love both the steampunk theme which I think they relate too and I love the summon mechanics. My lot call me ancient and I've messed up many players with these in tournaments. I'm definitely getting the new cards when I have the money.
Also, outside of him hating Jaden and treating the slifers harshly, in the sub he is almost a respectable, if a bit petty teacher, he has his moments, even in the earlier seasons
Ancient gears is my favorite deck to run on master duel, right there next to cyberdark/cyber dragons. It's brought me so much joy to eek some wins over modern meta decks being an OG who favors the GX arc over everything else 😅 Side note, Howitzer truly is the boss monster of the deck, and you can't change my mind
I will confess I got the old structure deck when I was a kid and legit thought you could tribute summon Gadjiltron Dragon with all three gadgets (I never actually understood the actual rules back then 😅)
I’m guessing you have t actually read that card, if you did you’d know that card sends the listed AG golem, which dark golem counts as while on the field and won’t be able to activate its effects after you send a copy. Just FYI.

Ah Ancient Gears. They are right alongside Dinosaurs as one of the purest definition of "forget all the nonsense. Just punch em!" No novel length effects. No continually using a bunch of stuff that can effectively waste everyone's time. Nah with Ancient Gear you just summon a big monster, wind up and deck em right in the schnoz! And if that don't work at least ya tried I only say they're second to dinos cause Ancient Gears don't have an equivalent to Ultimate Conductor Tyranno. Which is good. We only need one of those running around.

Honestly, the 1st Card?? *"Ancient Gear"* would have a better chance a being used *if the Effect was just a little different.* Now if the effect was "You can Special Summon this card from your hand if there's a Face-Up Ancient Gear Monster on the field." The Fact one has to be already on field just to Special Summon it is likely why no Ancient Gear Player uses it. My Change in the effect would make "Anicent Gear" easy & decent fodder for Tributing "Reactor", "Hydra" to get half of their full effects. But hey, who really Tributes nowadays??

Was legit trying to remember 15 minutes ago if Nova had done ancient gears when I learned they got recent support after watch the latest support report. And I got my answer no but now yes.
I added Ancient Gear Drill into the Wyvern portion, since it was probably the best example of why there are so many 'you can't set cards for the rest of the turn' effects in the theme.
Spoken like a guy who's never played AG before. People don't run Ultimate Pound ever, people don't run normal poly either. Everyone who knows the deck runs the vanilla golem instead, even when the structure deck released. Not to mention Commander has to send a vanilla golem. So yeah, ultimate pound is ultimate shit.
Even Ghoti can beat these guys, with less bricks. Some archetypes need complete revisions, but Konami would rather keep making mediocre support for bad archetypes.

Only use for toon ancient gear I can think of is deck thining with the toon search ladder then use it for discard fodder
