I fell in love with marni when I travelled to the mall in Florence, they had an outlet, I was living in London, working in design. And would save money and take an easy jet flight to pisa. Grab a fiat and go outlet shopping. Circa 2005-2009. I still have key pieces wool coat, shoes, trousers, dresses, tops. They have been the best pieces in terms of tailoring, fabrics and completely timeless. Still wear them after nearly 20 years

As a former employee , cansuelo hand selected Francesco Cansuelo sold it because they had seasons where no one was buying there were even articles written about the fall of marni . Even her last season didn’t do well .

Marni has been one of my favorites among the very few Italian brands I truly admire and I buy often at Marni boutiques in Italy whenever I visit the beautiful “italia”….😊 amazing craftsmanship!
I must say that I think my fav Marni was with Consuelo Castiglioni, the chunky funky, boho feel of Marni was so much fun, having hallmarks of the design language was so Consuelo. I just feel like some of that is really missing still. It's almost there again tho. Furry mules are one of these pieces. Marni always gave me funky Prada cousin. Late 90s Marni was A++++

Interestingly, Marni began as a collection that was treated like a diffusion line of the mainline furrier Ciwifurs, specifically for them to use 'ethical' fur for the company (like byproducts of the food industry for example), but it was so successful, making $26 million in the first collection alone, that it was turned into a full diffusion line
