  • In this video, Dr Mike outlines the strucutres and functions of the central nervous system.
    This includes;
    1. Cerebrum (temporal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and frontal lobe)
    2. Cerebellum (tone, balance, posture)
    3. Brain stem (cranial nerves and multiple reflexes)
    4. Spinal cord (spinal nerves)

    Diencephalon (hypothalamus, thalamus, epithalamus)

    When you talk about gray and white matter, I am thinking about Gandalf the gray and Gandalf the white. The properties of their personalities are almost identical. They say Gandolf the gray is supose to represent Odin and Gandalf the white represents transporting information quickly and purity

    Please help me !

    Axons made up myelinated sheaths so the colors are white so associated with white matter. Neuron bodies are gray matter

    Im only 12 and since im aiming to be a brain surgeon i started the learning earlier so my life is easier when im older. So now before i even reach the stage to learn about it in university ill already be a bit ahead in the learning.

    Hell Dr. Mike,
    On the topic of gray/white matter. What happens to a person if we see more white matter than grey? What if there are more "pathways" than "receptacles"? would a person with dementia have this issue? What would their brain look like?
    On a separate note, fantastic video! Incredibly informative.
