- This presentation is an overview of the former RAF Spilsby and supplements my other videos about this airfield.
From a ploughed field to an airfield and once more a ploughed field. A familiar story for many 'Bomber County' airfields of the period. Today, it's hard to imagine RAF Spilsby as it was during its 'heyday' as there are few reminders of the Station's wartime past but then again, you just have to take a closer look.
NOTE: The road running parallel with the former airfield site does not appear to have been named, however, locals often refer to it as Air Force Road and is referenced as such in this video.
The Airfield Road Memorial site is maintained by a group called 'The Friends of RAF Spilsby,' whilst the Monksthorpe Memorial will be upkept by the National Trust.

A beautiful tribute to those who served there.
some of these great warriors looked so young, that had to grow up so quickly..bless them all, may the lost rest in peace..
What an amazing tribute.
Fantastic tribute. We owe these heroes so much.
Spilsby's memorial represents the letter V, as in 'V for Victory'. Brave men, and humbling when remembered that all the aircrew were volunteers.
What a touching tribute
Thank you
At the time it closed it was always refered to as Steeping
Hi, I’m wondering Mark, you aren’t a relation of Iain Henderson Nicholson? He was based at RAF Spilsby and was in 207 squadron
Hi Sarah. Sorry, but I'm not related to said individual. All the best...
