The biggest change is probably the level of competition. If you go back three or four years, he has storm decks that 3-0 even though they can’t win a game without Fastbond. But his opponents give him ten turns.
I think the hardest hit got poor Jayce... he used to go nuts about how broken the card is and now he is barely excited seeing it :P Guess thoughtseize is his new Jayce.... @@conman-sr5md
Char is such a sick card, love that it's both good enough to actually play in such a sweet format and how it pushes games to end, one way or another (or another).
Great to see such a cool person join these! I’m probably not the first to suggest this, but I think Caleb Gannon would make a great addition too; he’s a smaller RUclipsr but is great at Cube and drafts all sorts of decks.
This is the perfect format, thank you! I would never assume you would spectate while your own matches were still going on, but it is really fun to get to see the conclusion like this if you have the time. Awesome stuff.
Also, because I thought it would be fun to see who in this whole cube Discord reigns supreme, I started to keep some stats some videos ago. Assuming LSV doesn't hide all his 0-3s and we get to see all the games, he is actually 11-4 (entire matches, not games) in the videos I started to stat against varying opposition. So, he is not only basically the most entertaining mtg content creator out there, he is also arguably, literally, the best cube player in this whole lot. At least one of the best, as I don't see many players having as good a record in these matches. I could be wrong though. LSV is definitely an incredibly strong player though and you probably want him on your team. THank you for the content. :)
I’d really enjoy watching you and Kenji commentate over a replay of a draft where you were seated next to each other. Talk through pick order, strategy within the draft, signals you were reading from each other.
I think LSV has absolutely nailed it with this format: Watch LSV's draft and matches, then spectate the other matches if the cube is still live. Chef's kiss.
THank you for the additive content, and this is a really smart way to do it, but honestly I feel that if it's too much work I'm capable of skipping content that doesn't thrill me :)
I'm just as excited about the collab as everyone else, but I would like to mention how amazing match 1 was. What a back and forth. EDIT: Game 9 was hype. The best draw I have ever seen.
One thing I try to learn from these drafts is how to not get obsessed with a pick. I would say that I pick most of the same cards as LSV on average when picking objectively, but I can let myself get swayed easily by things that excite me. For example in this draft, once LSV picked Soulherder I would have had a hard time *not* picking to make a deck that will always play Soulherder. Since I'm not a heavy drafter of vintage cube I'll often make an exception to push for fun, but I think that it is also one of the best formats to learn about drafting in.
Being able to drop a pick or switch mid pack is hard AF, hardest lesson there ever was for me to learn. My "oh crap, I did this wrong, I'm not going to it wrong like this again" was in the last Ravnica, where the seat I was in should have been base green (absolutely no green drafters to the right, first pickable green cards on pick 5, 6, and 8) and I didn't switch. Now? Now I'll switch. It's hard to do sometimes
M1G1 was a great display for why Fable is one of my favorite cards to play with. I put it in every legacy deck that has red, and almost always grab it in cube.
Oh man, following the first pick White Plume, you missed the opportunity for a killer mono white deck. Hero of Bladehold, Skrelve, Council's Judgment, Blade Splicer, all in the first pack.
not sure about this, but at 37:11 is reflection + glasspool mimic a potential lethal next turn? (provided your opponent has no removal which is unlikely, but still you don't lose much if the opponent has a removal spell right? just a 1 for 1.) EDIT: oh wait i forgot reflection isnt a free copy effect like original kiki jiki
Question, how far in advance of publishing are the videos recorded? Looks like AlphaFrog's cube just got updated, but this is definitely not the new one. I'm wondering when we'll start seeing videos for the new cube.
Wooooow that d**w was so hype, sick videos lately. You’re such a great commentator, you should really try to get a color commentator for those sections if you could get a volunteer from your team
If you have enough spells or fetch lands the gap between breach and snappy isn't big in a non counter spell deck. You lose out on a creature but get access to non instant and sorcery spells. Red regrowth with possibility of double spelling and combo outs. Is parallax wave combo still in this cube?
Is there a cube list anywhere I can see? I’ve been really enjoying these drafts and the games and would love to feature this cube in my FNM drafts with my friends.
Are you allowed to preboard for these? Normal limited you can completely change decks between rounds if you so want, so Im curious if it has been houseruled against
Punished hard match 2 not having double white for council's judgement. It was really weird he wasn't considering it more. His deck is 90% UW with tough mana and he passes all the fetchable UW lands.
Excited to see numot join. I've been contemplating for like a month now what would be the most tactful way to ask if he could join since it fits his content so much. Glad I didnt actually have to do that.
Hey LSV, curious about your thoughts on Esper Sentinel. I feel like it’s a super powerful effect for 1 mana in vintage cube but you had 2 chances to pick it and didn’t even mention it as a consideration, am I heavily overrating the card?
with so many colors I would have never passed raugrin triome, there cannot be too much fixing in 4c decks imo. especially considering that you had already many good playables and ended up cutting some of them.
I just realized i've never seen anyone play hogaak in these. Is it because the format doesn't have the enablers for it, or is it because hogaak isn't good enough in vintage?
There just aren't any Dredge cards. The cube doesn't have Golgari Grave-Troll or Stinkweed Imp. Dread Return, Narcomoeba, Ichorid, and Bridge from Below aren't in the cube, either. The only thing that lets you play Hogaak is Bazaar of Baghdad.
@@justinth963 Pretty much. Hogaak also isn't especially powerful even if you get it into play: It's basically a worse Inkwell Leviathan with more steps.
He wasn't really playing 4c, his only red card was the Fable (which was essentially a 'free' splash off the Sacred Foundry and several fetches) and he was only really splashing black, too. The problem with the deck was that it was basically a Legacy Cube deck with no zero or 1 mana interaction, so it was a bit underpowered against the broken stuff he got paired against.
It's so much fun to watch LSV's Cube videos from 5, then 4, then 3.... years ago and see how the rating of the cards changes so drastically.
Srsly poor fof as well
I miss the Bolas’ Citadel storm phase lol
@@conman-sr5md love those archetypes, you’re right though breach has made storm pretty one-note. Yawg Will got supplanted

That was the sickest ending to a draft ever. Char draw, into extra game, into win, it was so good. Hank the hero.
It's certainly going to be hard for future drafts to top that.

Not only is Kenji an excellent player and content creator
But the dream of getting to watch the same draft from multiple seats is just A+++

In which video from Kenji can you see this draft? I didn't found it.
I couldn't find this one either! maybe he didn't record his first draft on the server
