Absolutely. His whole thing is also essentially going against the way a situation is "supposed to be". Like how they fight with lightsabers at Tim Horton's, and Tom crassly announces how much they spent on the champagne and then basically has a childish meltdown, all in a high-brow, upper-class restaurant. His act of denying the invisible rules that everybody goes along with, shows how silly they are. It's beautiful
And then that crochety ED patient news anchor tries to call it a hoax even though neither Tom nor Monica ever mentioned anything concrete as to what the announcement was supposed to be about. Basically, the ravenous, sensationalist media started drooling over a story they fully concocted in their tiny little brains, Tom and Monica just didn't deny or confirm anything, and then, when the shitty media ended up with egg on their face, they make a miserably futile attempt to save face by acting like they were intentionally misled or lied to.

He may very well have saved her. Made a joke of all the media attention around her, took her up on stage but didn't make her talk, took all the heat and spewed the absurdity of it all back on the media. He didn't just save her that day. Everyday after that the media would've have been weary about doing a story on Monica for fear of being had again. So he helped take the focus off her and also humanised her by hyping something (handbags) that she created. Also got her laughing and they had a blast.
You gotta remember at this time Tom Green was the top guy at MTV around this time. His show was really popular. This was like a year or 2 before jackass premiered I think. I remember watching this episode when it premiered. I was like 11. I makes me miss the 90s so much I wanna cry so bad.
Yeah. Tom was basically the only successful comedy programming MTV had during the time period starting when Beavis and Butthead got canceled until the debut of Jackass. Daria was a good show and had plenty of funny moments but its focus was on cerebral comedy and making the viewer appreciate the quality of writing. There was a good year or so where MTV couldn't get their shit together when it came to providing fun, dumb, carefree laughs. Tom sure as shit breathed much needed life into that gap in their programming.
@@3941602 Well Tom Green wasn't making shows, MTV needed content so they got the CKY guys and paired them with Johnny Knoxville, hence, Jackass. It was born out of TG's cancer recovery.
The most random, absurd and pointless special ever. There's no reason this should exist, but I'm glad that it does. It also humanizes Monica, who was the victim of a scummy middle aged politician that took advantage of a young girl while the corrupt media treated Bill like he was the victim. It also feels like Tom and Monica had some chemistry.
Monica seems like such a sweet person, shame what happened to her but it seems like she’s doing good now. Also Tom’s parents are the best, they’re so nice.

Love how he trolled the press. You can tell they're disappointed with their (non-)story.
@@blakfloyd Good point. Media tried to play victim when they were acting predatory towards them by chasing them around and writing misleading/humiliating takes.
This is pure gold. Even better because it's classic VHS now on youtube. Thnx for the upload!!!
Tom Green the master of never going out of character and always keeping that stupid look on his face just amazing
You can sense the pure terror from his parents any time Tom begins to speak
"you're pissed off right?.....better than being pissed on!!" pmsl
AAAA! AAAAAH! OOO! WOOOHOOHOOO!
It was at that moment she realized he was funny
Goddamn im so happy ive rediscovered Tom Green
Here from Dr Drew show!
i bet tom saved her life in some round about way, this had to be helpful during that time for her. epic kindness to monica from tom. very strange and heart warming.
This was genius by Tom.
Monica was such great sport.
Yep the way Tom was with his parents is were Bam Magera got his idea.
Jackass ripped off Tom when he was recovering from Cancer treatment.
@@JackSmith-kx7fe Wow. Interesting
@@3941602 Well Tom Green wasn't making shows, MTV needed content so they got the CKY guys and paired them with Johnny Knoxville, hence, Jackass. It was born out of TG's cancer recovery.
"you can get 6yr olds to make your bags all day because you don't have to feed them as much because they have smaller stomachs" 😆
I can't believe this is my first time seeing this video... I was sure that I watched every second of available video from Tom Green.
I love Monicas laughter
Tom Green started all of this shit. Give this man a lifetime achievement award 🥇
I miss this Tom Green. It's kind of sad that as an older man he seems to regret almost all of his best bits.
I don’t think he regrets them, but he grew up…..could you really see him in his 50s doing his stuff
There are ways of evolving while keeping the spirit.
@@MegaWumba We saw him doing his standup a couple of weeks ago. He's still his goofy self... just older and a little more mature.
didnt bring up the clinton scandal and treated her with respect. Class act Tom!
I have no idea how I missed this back in the day, but this is just so insanely surreal and beautiful all at once.
How can you say there was no reason it should exist and then immediately a good reason for it to exist. Do you like not agree with yourself?
Do you know sarcasm or are you some sort of retard?... nevermind, anyway. I hope there's an alternate reality in which this ship became a marriage.
When Tom's dad says that he said "no comment" on Tom and Monica's relationship...that was awesome.
He's a team player all the way
Monica seems like such a sweet person, shame what happened to her but it seems like she’s doing good now. Also Tom’s parents are the best, they’re so nice.
To this day the Democrats are still sexually assaulting young women like her and getting away with it
Tom trolled the media so hard 😂😭
Set them up perfectly
I love Tom's parents! And bless their hearts because Tom is a handful lol.
I remember watching this as a kid thinking this was funny. Now watching it again as an adult and really thinking this is super funny! Now that I understand all the jokes. And I just love his parents. They're such good sports.
Took me this long to realise his mom is named Mary Jane Green.
Hahahaha true
This was so ahead of it’s time. Not only the format, but making fun of politics. Tom makes Monica human which is what the news could never do.
I almost have no words to describe how satisfying and funny this is 😂.
Just finished “Impeachment” American Crime Story and remembered watching this when I was a kid thanks for upload 🤘🙏
One of my fav episode. Even had some clips of the commercial. Nice stroll down memory lane. Long live the 90’s.
Tom Green is a legend for this
"I've never been kicked out of anywhere before...well *face smirk*" - Monica Lewinsky
Tom is actually a really good guy. I think that he showed that Monica is a great fun person, I love them both.
probably the greatest thing to ever grace the airwaves
This absurdly funny and heart-warming special must’ve had an impression on Drew Barrymore.
proud to be from Ottawa! i lived close to Toms parents for years. amazingly patient parents!great people!
its very nestalgic to the see the difference of then till now!
Norm Macdonald apparently lived a few blocks away from Tom, as well.
"We can use the expensive champagne as a symbol of how important this occasion is". Seriously though, this is so good
How did it take all the way until 2019 for me to see that Monica Lewinsky is actually cute asf. Nowww I understand why Bill had her in the Whitehouse
Same here. I might've come around a few years before you but I blame it on how society basically brainwashes us to like specific body types and just because she's a few pounds heavier than what we see in magazines we're conditioned to not like body types like hers.
She's also a really awesome person. Not that I know her or anything, but from what I've seen of her in the media, both then and now, she's a class act. Her interview with John Oliver is great.
I mean, would you rather sleep with Monica or Crooked Hillary?
His mom covering his mouth and talking calmly to him.was hilarious😂😂😂😂
She actually seems really cool lol
Ya know, it's pretty cool of Tom Green to hang out with Monica Lewinsky when she was getting a lot of hate from people.
I love Toms disregard for social etiquette, next time i am in a restaurant i wanna shout AGHHH IM GETTING DRUNK as i sip a glass of water but it'll be okay cos i'll have a camcorder lol
I vividly remember being a preteen and watching Tom Green at my grandmas house. He was humping a dead horse and she walked in and scolded me and my cousin who were on the floor laughing. She said we were never to watch that type of nonsense in her home. Random, but this video has me feeling nostalgic. Gold medal to homey that posted this 🥇
i miss the Tom Green Show!!
Well it’s right here!
Imagine bringing the infamous Mistress of a World Leader with you to your old High School, then telling the entire assembly they can cut school.
What is Tom Green's Bucket List?
