Y'all wanna get on her about wearing a Columbia sweatshirt when everyone in the world wears Harvard sweatshirts despite going to community college , ok
I love it when people who don't even go to Columbia start pointing out the differences between Barnard and Columbia. If they are sooooo different then why do Barnard girls participate in CU extracurriculars (sports, clubs, Greek life)? If they are sooo different then why is my diploma stamped by Columbia with a Prez Bo's signature? If you're a comp sci major at Barnard why do you take all your comp sci classes at Columbia? Like OMG the archaic hierarchy of academic institutions is exhausting and indicative that other people base their self worth entirely on the exclusivity of the school they go to. Live your life, enjoy rocking that CU apparel with pride, and enjoy your time there it goes by in a blink!
why do you guys have a different email then :) why can't guys go into our dorm buildings then :) girl be proud of your school and stop claiming barnard is a part of columbia. I mean seriously you guys even have a different application. When you apply on common app, you chose barnard. Not columbia-barnard.
when you only see barnard students defending this :/ I don't want to seem antagonistic but sis I applied to both, was accepted to barnard, and visited both. there's a separate application and admissions system haha. I also know students who go to both sure sure "we don't understand"
Izzy honestly you're videos are my study motivation and when you Upload i have the biggest smile on my face. I love the way you live your life and I wish you the best. Keep vloging cause it's really motivational. I wish I could come to columbia to but i'm Iranian , 17 and I don't have enough money or IELTS to be able to apply for columbia or any out of the country university.
This just got recommended to me now and it is so weird to see everyone so close together and without masks :D Anyway, this vlog was very nice and entertaining! Studying there seems to be so much fun!
I get that Barnard and Columbia are interconnected, but I think you should be proud of whatever school and own it and not just slap a name of an affiliated institution on. Both are two different and amazing schools and you should claim whichever one you go to.
Columbia University is the umbrella term for Barnard College, Columbia College, school of general studies, and seas (the engineering school). The institutions are so intertwined that as a Barnard student (hi!!) I naturally spend a lot of time hanging out, studying, and going to class there so the label is intuitive - not a measure of school pride and not even inaccurate
yeah, putting "columbia" on all her videos when she's a barnard student is like someone who went to harvard summer school saying that they went to harvard... it's technically true, but we all know that's not what it typically means
i think that the newest video 100% percent makes all the points that are relevant!! the final things i would say are that you're correct that we have a different application and different diploma - as someone who went through the process i'm aware of both those things. i find that the people who tend to make this distinction often have a certain attitude that comes from misunderstanding all the ways the relationship is mutual and that the boundaries are blurred, especially if they take the time to correct me while knowing that i go to this school. the summer school analogy doesn't hold because it's not a question of temporary or partial enrollment - i think a more accurate way to think about it is how you would never tell someone who works for the EPA that they don't work for the federal government - while it functions as an independant agency, there are a lot of resources and connections that come from working with other departments.
Could you please do a video on your different classes? Like how you like them, what the workload is like, what you would recommend, etc. Good luck on midterms!!
i cant stop watching ur vlogs, and all i wanted to say is that ur sooo gorgeous, i literally didnt see anyone this beautiful and im not lying! good luck studying neuroscience!
If you do a Q&A, can you talk about what it’s like to be at Barnard, especially since it’s connected to Columbia? Do you ever feel your treated differently as a Barnard student than a Columbia student? I’m at Northwestern so I kinda have the impression there could be some resentment btw the two because of rank just based upon going to a top tier
I am at Columbia and I never see the Barnard students any different. Once on campus you forget which Undergrad program you are from and try to survive homework.
@Shaniya Hunt - Nobody says that. CUMB makes an occasional joke like that on Orgo Night, but no one does so seriously. And yes, there may be an occasional Bwog/FB argument about ranking and selectivity between the schools, but those conversations are few and frankly, petty. All the undergraduate schools benefit from each other. I can't imagine my undergrad experience without Barnard and its amazing dance department. Plenty of Barnard students take classes at Columbia, participate in student orgs, and hold their own. The difference is non-existent.
David Boucard maybe the people you know don’t but I go to Columbia too/my parents have been teaching here for 20+ years and I’ve heard people say things like that all the time. I don’t think she’s saying that everyone looks down on Barnard women and we both certainly know that’s not true, but a large portion (read: not all) of the student body does hold some kind of bias. Barnard is a wonderful school and anyone should be proud to go there. No one cares when you’re talking about academics but socially it is a big deal, especially for things like Greek life and alumni relations (since Barnard got kicked off of lionshare a while ago and their Columbia emails expire after grad/they aren’t considered Columbia alums).
Not true at all. I am a grad student at Columbia now and everyone LOVES Barnard. Have heard Columbia College girls feel competition with Barnard girls when it comes to boyfriends at Columbia but that is just petty and dumb. Most people at CU don't see the different or care tbh everyone is in all of the same clubs, sororities, classes, and buildings after all. Only petty and insecure people actually care
I just found your channel and it’s amazing girl, so aesthetically pleasing (I love NY) and you seem super genuine! Good luck with your studies! 🍀 I go to uni in California and it’s nice to see a different college experience
My dream school has always been Columbia University. I get really excited when I think about it, and I know exactly what I want to do as a career, but sometimes I think that I'm not good enough. And now I'm in high school and I'm working hard as ever and I'm very excited for the future.
Okay this is going to be so random but im a huge fan of yours, so here's the thing: when yesterday you shared the video i didn't even have time to watch it bc I had a lot of things to do and something like a hundred pages to study. Today I went through the test and also recieved other tests I had prepared... well, the results were not totally what I was expecting. I came home 2 hours ago and started overthinking about those grades etc.. I was really feeling down when I decided to watch this video. You lighted my day!☀️☀️☀️ This video has reminded me the reason why I am subscribed to your channel and even why i love your vlogs! Last july I was in nyc and seeing you walking around and going to college there just made me so happy and full of hope. You always seemed a positive girl to me, so i just want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for having made me smile today🌱🍑 I wish you a good dayyyy♡♡♡♡♡
Could you do a video on how you exactly take notes on your iPad? I want to also start taking my notes on an iPad but I'm trying to see how other people take their notes and what apps they use. Thank uuuu
okay this is a really random question, but how much do you think barnard college will grow in the next couple years? I’m a sophomore right now, and I’m really interested in barnard but it seems like I’ve heard SO much more about it recently. as technically part of columbia, do you think it’ll become less of a “hidden gem” school than it is now? sorry for that paragraph, I feel like what I wrote doesn’t make sense but I really find so many similarities to you (i do ballet, i want to be on the same career track, and i found your other channel like 5 years ago and loved it if that counts!!) and I love your vlogs!! 💕
Hey! Any chance you could make a video about your process with the transfer applications? I’m a current college freshman and I really want to transfer to Barnard/Columbia and would love to hear from someone who found success in the process :) love your videos!
