TAMU biggest obstacle is TAMU
as a student, I completely agree
As a Former Student, I 100% agree!
This!!
Facts
Atm has never won anything big in all sports
I'm in standard Aggie mode right now. Excited to see them on the field but we'll see if it's time to get really excited in September. Right now loving the diamond sports.
I agree. I think Elko will get time also.
You’re analogies are always spot on
The biggest challenge for A&M will be getting acclimated to a new coaching staff and gelling as a team with so many new players. Key facts about Texas A&M, despite the portal transfers: 1. Texas A&M ranks #1 in the SEC for returning production; 2. Texas A&M ranked #2 for portal recruits. 3. This is still a top 10 talent roster. 4. Roughly 20 of the players from the #1 All-time recruiting class are still on campus. 5. Vegas has Conner Weigman as 8th best odds for winning the Heisman. 6. The Aggies have the deepest RB room in the SEC with 3 running backs who could start at most programs. 7. The DL, already stout, acquired nearly 30 sacks from the portal and will be the strength of the defense. 8. A&M signed Tommy Moffitt, the GOAT of strength and conditioning and it's already having an affect; 9: A&M weaknesses or "question marks" will be at LB depth; WR production; O-line unit. They are currently at around 90 on their roster, so they still need to trim some fat before the fall.
Don't think that RB room is the best in the SEC.....that probably goes to Texas....that stable of backs behind a veteran Oline. That am Oline is nowhere close to what Texas has
The ONLY reason a&m had the number 2 "portal class was because they took like 23 players from teams that weren't very good....funny how aggy think replacing pretty highly recruited players with players from less than SEC caliber is gonna vault them to the front of the SEC😂😂😂
@@thekey1682 I found the Texas T-shirt fan...LOLOLOL
@chopkong sorry you didn't get accepted to TEXAS....still stings huh
@@TheGipper157 HELL NO!!
A&M’s recruiting reach nationally is way stronger since Manziel, Fisher + major facility upgrades in last decade or so
I think the defense will decide the outcome for some of the games because several absolute defensive studs transferred in. That is a huge improvement over the last two seasons.
Yes sir!
Gig'em 👍
A&M has a real deal coach now.
unfortunately thats what we said about Jimbo 7 years ago. Just need to wait and see now.
@@ericfleitman9958 Right. At least Elko is hungry and has something to prove. Jimbo was at the point of his career where he didn't care as much.
As an A&M fan, it’s hard to believe they will contend this year due to their lack of WR depth and play this year. O-line is still in question as well. If you can’t throw it, you at least need to run it. I don’t think our line is capable of consistently running the ball. I see us middle of the pack again, until we revamp the WR and OL room. Great schedule this year, but it’s tough for me to believe we can move on up. Elko has a lot of work cut out for him.
If our O-Line can't hold up, I say we start either Henderson or Reed, who have more quickness and agility to escape and create; and play a 2 tight-end set on run plays. If we get solid play from the O-Line, then play Weigman and open up the playbook. WR's are fine as long as the QB can get the ball to them; they all have good hands, but aren't as adept at creating space. Klein's offense doesn't require the QB to hold the ball as long and QB makes progressions quicker than Dumbo's 1970's offense. Just my thoughts.
@@chopkong I’m hoping Klein makes average receivers look like Bama/LSU/Texas’ receivers. I can only hope.😂
@@chopkong I forgot Ohio State! Can’t forget their WR room. 😂
@@chopkongweigmans mobility is extremely underrated because of how bad his OL has been. His pressure to sack rate was 7%. For reference quinn ewers was just below 25 and shedeur just above and Milroe over 30. Get him a good o line and he will evade most pressures and his accuracy throwing is second to none
Jimbo had no idea how to use the transfer portal. He was stuck in his old ways...but I liked him.
Serious question: when’s the last time A&M reached a conference championship game?
1998.
I think if A&M has fully acclimated to this coaching staff they’ll probably finish 9-3 & miss playoffs by finishing 13th.
Also I really like this QB room as we’ve seen these 2nd & 3rd stringers ball out when needed. Give them a good oline that consistent & doesn’t injure QBs or HBs & they’ll do great. Already hearing great things from both UT & A&M locker rooms
A&M does have "That Oil Money" as Stephen A says
I tell this to everyone who doesn't realize just how much Texas A&M has grown over the years. Jumbo Fisher is the first coach in that school's history to actually have all of the resources of a top 10 college football program.
TAMU has everything they need to succeed big. They just haven’t done it yet.
Everything but a grip on reality.
OL / DL will determine success...DL has plenty of DEs and 3 techs. Hicks, Both Shemars and Scourton will be dangerous......Can NG-1 techs plug up the middle tho? There are no All-SEC type 1-techs on the roster after watching the spring game...
Now that they're finally rid of Dumbf*** Fisher, they no longer have an anchor costing them 3 wins a year. And now that there 12 rather than 4 teams in the playoff, they don't have to go 12-0 or 11-1: they could sneak in at 9-3.
Except their boosters and board of regents
When has A&M been an SEC title contender
Short answer. No.
Long answer. They can’t compete with the other school. They had their chance of winning by trying to keep local Texans close by while playing in the SEC, but now you got Texas and Oklahoma, giving players more options. Texas A&M had their chances but missed it, I just don’t see it happening with this new coach or Fischer
Exactly what I think. They still have a chance but if OU or Texas runs the table in the SEC it’s over for A&M
@@MikeyMike0007it’s just not true lol
@@pleasenobotsjd1744 ehhhh yeah it is. They had their shot to become elite and out of Texas/ OU’s shadow. That didn’t happen. Texas A&M going back to being the ugly step sister to Texas lol
I always try to stay calm and under estimate my team in the preseason and then you go and post this stuff and now im just chugging Koolaid alone in the corner again.
No, like Miami the culture is holding them back.
That's kinda why we got a new head coach and paid off the last one 100 million lol. Elko is a culture 1st coach.
Back?
A&M video surely only Aggies will watch.
They certainly have the resources and talent locally to get it done. It's baffling they aren't more successful on a regular basis.
Who tf wants to live in college station tbh

TAMU could easily win like 8 games this year. no reason that in 10 years or so they might compete for the SEC
They had a 10year headstart in recruiting by being the only Texas team in the SEC.....those days are gone.....Aggy will be the same that they have always been ...."middle of the pack" just like they were in the Bigxii.....with an occasional upset.....but mostly irrelevant
@@thekey1682bros boss is definitely an aggie
“Back” as if A&M was ever a real contender in this modern SEC. You speak of A&M as a “5 star job” like they have proven history. They are not Bama, OSU, USC, Georgia, etc. They are a perennial 8-4 program until proven otherwise. You expect me to believe that they’ve gotten every hire wrong since Manziel? Big fan of the show but this take is off
They’ve hired two guys since Manziel. Two guys. That’s all the sample you have to go on.
If they really are that great they would’ve gotten one of them right. Also one college kid can’t create a program. Times before Manziel should count too, and they weren’t good. A&M is the more talented team on the field in every game except one, yet they only play good in that one game
@@RadicallyOptimistic Texas had multiple bad hires before Sark (who still may not pan out) and yet you don’t think Texas is a subpar place. Also, you clearly have no grasp on what Manziel meant to the sport when it came to revenue, let alone A&M itself. If you think that the grandeur and resources of A&M was not much different after Manziel then before, your just ignorant.
I’m not impressed by Texas either. They haven’t been truly great since 2009. Not a tier 1 program anymore. But last year was so bad all they had to do was beat Bama and they were basically in. Couldnt even win red river 💀
Has TAMU _ever_ been a serious SEC Championship contender?
Their best finish was the 2020 COVID shortened season where they finished 2nd in the West.
But, I look at it differently. I judge being a contender based on results on the field, not hype in the press (I give zero F's about people giving "pre-season contender" status to any team). I mean, even in the Manziel years, they weren't serious SEC Championship contenders. In 2012, they finished 3rd in the West. In 2013, they finished 4th. There was a lot of hype in 2012 because of the Alabama win, but they had already lost to Florida and LSU at that point and were no longer in the SECCG picture.
we were a florida or lsu win away from making the sec championship in 2012 and I think we would have beat Mizzou
@@ufailowell Maybe.
But the problem with that line of reasoning is that they lost to UF on the first game of the season. The LSU loss was the 7th game of the season. By that reasoning, every team is "in contention" because if they had "just lost fewer games" they would have made it to the championship game.
And, the 2012 season championship game would have been against UGA, not Mizzou. Missouri was 5-7 in 2012. Mizzou played in the 2013 championship game.
Personally, I think it's silly to talk about teams being "in contention" for a conference championship before all the teams are at least halfway through their conference schedule. Before then, it's just guesswork.
@@saldiven2009 2020 we only lost to bama

i can't stand A&M, if you've ever worked with an Aggie cult member, and they are everywhere in Houston, then you can probably relate. I've enjoyed watching them empty their wallets on coach after coach in order to get them back to "Aggie standards". I must admit though I am concerned Elko just might be the one to get them there...hope i'm wrong.
It has been almost 30 years since A&M was a conference title contender in either the Big 12 or SEC. Please stop.
So that somehow means something now?
@@jyrionbell848 How can you get back to something you haven't been to in 2 decades? You've only finished in the top 3 in your division like 3 times in that 20 year period as well across two conferences.

A&M was mediocre in the big 12 and is mediocre in the sec. Out side of what 3 decent years. Same with mizzou. The funniest part is that A&M was running from texas to the sec and look who’s back 😭😭

Texas A& M has always had the advantages Josh talks about and never done anything with them. Last Natty was 1939. They are an 8-5 program. 100+ years of history say so. I can't deny they should be better. No else can deny that they aren't. So, while past performance are not a guarantee of the future, they are the best indicators we have. So, there is that.
TAMU is the same now as they have always been. A middle of the pack team. That's what they were their entire time in the Big 12. And that is what they are now.
And for the Longhorns to be "back". They would have first had to have "been there"? There is no evidence of that other than a few good seasons sprinkled in amongst a bunch of losing ones.
Their nickname, Texas 4&8, fits them so well. And no, it's not a typo

Guess how many 10+ win seasons A$M has since WWII? 10... How many 9 win seasons have they had since 1946? also 10 How many conference titles do they have since 1946? 9 in the SWC and Mack Clown just arrived to Austin and the year after Bob Stoops arrive Norman and after they ran odd Slocum Franchione lost 29 games in 5 seasons and he was supposed to have benen the greatest thing since sliced bread and even worse OU whipped A$M 77-0 in 2003 and there was still 2 minutes in the 9rd quarter when Stoops punted the ball 4 times to end the game ... Texas got the Big 12 title last year and they deserved tit.. They won the games needed... But everyone cries about TBOW (Riley) and the defenses he put out at OU and now Venable first 2 years been a little rough... But when Texas gets to play a team that finished 122nd IN TOTAL DEFENSE and 193rd in PASING YARDS ALLOWED and in it's last 3 games after beating OU .. OSU got smashed 45-3 by a team that finished 6-7 then the cowboys went to Houston and Houston was up 23-9 and was moving the ball with a little less than 2 minutes to go in the first half and driving and they were going to put the game away and make it 30-9 when the Houston QB threw the ball right to a OSU DB that didn't have a WR within yards of him and that was the game because in the span of 90 seconds OSU scored a TD and then Houston with with 90 seconds instead of just running the clock out since you are home and getting the 2nd half kick off.. They throw 3 passes in a row and punt.. OSU has 14 seconds and 3 plays later they kick a FG and make it 23-19.. so instead of opening it up to 30-9 Houston gives OU a huge gift... Then OU has BYU to finish the regular season and get a Arlington bid t play for the Big 12 titles and BYU has lost 6 of it last 8 games as they roll into Stillwater probably just wanting to get the game done and go back to Provo and cash in the season... Well OSU QB throws 2 INT'S which he is famous for doing being he had 15 TD's and 14 IN's last year... they get to a 2nd overtime and OSU scores and then BYU get the ball and I think gets to the 10 on the first play.. then as usual.. the BYU decides he doesn't want to hold the ball tightly and the game was over.. OSU won fair and square.. and yeah all you need to do is win the game.. To prove OSU didn't belong in Arlington Texas got nearly 700 yards and basically Sarkisian felt bad for Gumby and let of the gas.. you do know Sarkisian is ALL GAS NO BRAKES correct? So yes Texas won the title fair and square.. but OSU being 122nd in TOTAL DEFENSE right beside teams like Tulsa, Nevada, Vanderbilt, ULM and Arkansas St..
Ok got contribute to society instead of being a rambling punk online
