Mouthpieces are very individual, but this is definitely a warmer mouthpiece than a jumbo java. Super comfortable to play (for me) & while I'm more of a tenor player, I use it for all genres.

I prefer the Phil Woods model. Seems to be a little bigger/fatter than the NY Jazz. Both great mouthpieces though. I haven't tried the NY Jazz alto with brass chamber, but I do really like the brass chamber on my NY Jazz tenor as well as my Contemporary Rollover mouthpiece on bari.

This is perfect in my saxophone world!! Were you possibly in Milwaukee Wisconsin playing about 15 yrs ago?
I gigged regularly in Milwaukee from '94 to '97 before moving to California. After that, I was still back in Wisconsin playing a few gigs a year.

Nothing special. There are a lot of styles to select from. Can't remember which one I used but it was pretty easy.

Both great but I prefer the Phil Woods model. You could order both and return one. You'd just have to pay the extra shipping costs. Good luck!
