The cel of Robotnik picking up Scratch is from episode 23 (Grounder the Genius) at 9:25 The cel of Scratch picking up Robotnik is from the same episode at 13:31
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going spend the rest of my time and money on the Street Fighter animated series cells mystery packs until I get the one from the funny "YES! YES!" meme
speaking of cels being destroyed, make sure to store your cels in a cool, dry place - in the light, the black outlines will begin to fade away quickly as the ink used for them causes them to turn a pale orange color.
I love how genuen his laugh sounds. It truly reminds you that Cybershell is in fact very passionate about Sonic-related stuff if for some reason you have ever had doubts about that which you shouldn't
I found the origin of the Professor Von Schlemmer ones. He is holding his Sonic Sonar Device. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog 59 - Tails' Tale, around 11 min 10 sec
8:07 this one is from the grounder the Genius episode at around 13:30. The only reason I was able to find it was because I remember scratch throws robotnik into his own prison.
Fantastic pulls! I bought five 15 packs (oof) but don’t regret it now that they sold out. Looks like the Animation Legends team removed the pencil drawings, usually stuck to the paint of the cel. Probably because they planned to sell their final stock at marked up prices individually. They currently are selling pencils from the Sonic Says intro animation.
I love animation cells. Sure, cell animation takes a lot more time and effort, but there’s something so magical about seeing individually hand painted pictures moving. Also, you have the painted cells to collect!
2:51 Hey that's a memey cell. I remember the "HEY LADY" was used a ton in ytp. Also that scene is probably responsible for HEY LADY entering my permanent vocabulary
It’s amazing knowing that literal pieces of animation history are out there chilling in people’s collections. Animation will live on forever, definitely gonna make the investment soon
If I had these and having a mental breakdown I would be playin acting like it is a YTP, makin the voices, doing the PINGAS while holding my tears in an obscure room
7:05 I think I found that Grounder. It's also from Sonically Ever After, about 5 minutes and 28 seconds in Edit: 1:50 is from Full Tilt Tails at about 7 minutes 52 seconds and I think 7:17 is from The Robotnik Express at around 17 minutes 27 seconds
I've been un-ironically enjoying the snot out of this show lately. (Some mad lad is hosting episodes on YT) but I much agree Robotnik is the best character. Probably all of those years of Memes made him stand out. But even u-ironically, I find him to be the most entertaining. I'd love to see these shows re-animated in UHD keeping original Audio. The one of Scratch holding Robotnik is from "Grounder the Genius". It's the only episode in which Robotnik wears his cape (apart from the end credits sequence). Great collection; you are cleary chuffed. Thanks for sharing.
There's this weird gimmick that runs in my family of us creating our own personal collections of things we enjoy. My uncle collects Spanish music and even writes his own. My cousins collect Martial Arts materials and participates in them regularly. And my dad collects various car accessories, like Radios and the like. And I collect Video Game media. And this would definitely be an amazing thing to hold in my collection.
You probably remember that sloth episode so well because it was included in one of the VHS releases for the series. I know I watched that episode a bunch of times because of that...
These are definitely a worth while purchase. You are the only one that owns these. That's what makes it cool. In your Sonic cell, it kind of looks like he was holding something in his left hand.
I know for sure at 8:09 is from Grounder the Genius. Don’t know the exact time stamp but it’s right before Grounder orders scratch to use Robotnik as a basketball
Gog seeing these makes me sad that the production sketches I got where ruined in the post. Seeing and holding Animation cels is honestly fascinating. You're holding a piece of a animation history- no matter how small.
Dr. Ivo Robotnic is by far, hands down, at a ratio of about ten million to one, my favorite cartoon character ever. He’s what I call “delightfully despicable.” He’s rotten to the core and he has no redeeming qualities of any kind, but because he’s so incompetent he’s totally harmless. Paired with his over-the-top theatricality in everything he does and says, it gives him kind of an adorable gremlin cat kind of vibe.
If it wasn't for needing to spend money on important stuff, I would totally get those. Maybe if there are still some left next month I'll buy a couple packs.
Oh wow that's cool, I'm envious. Thankfully they're sold out so I hear, so I don't have to be tempted, because man was I, haha. Thanks for showing your collection!
Great vid. Because of it I dreamt about AoStH Robotnik last night. So that's 2 reasons to thank you, Cybershell. Alternate take: MLK: "I have a dream, about Dr. Robotnik, let me tell you about it now." **crowd cheers**
Saw this video recommended while I was binging my old favourite Robotnik YTPs. Hope you do an episode on these in the future. My favourites are Robotnik's Tea Party, Robotnik Wants His Money Back, Tomorrow I'll, It's From the Show, and of course everything by Iteachvader.
The production numbers on cels usually don't list what episode they were made for, and instead indicate what scene they're used for (in live action film terminology this would be called a shot, and in anime this would be called a cut), and the other numbers indicate what number drawing they are on the photography/timing sheet. A 25 minute episode is going to ordinarily be comprised of 300-500 cuts, and each cut will usually be composed of a number of drawings in the single digits. "SC" seems to refer to what scene the cel was used for, so if you have a cel labeled SC-5, it will be in the fifth shot, probably less than a minute into the episode. The "C" I think refers to character? There's an "R" on a few pictures of robotnik, and there was an "S" on a cel with sonic, so I think it was based off of who was on screen.
Dr. Warpnik's episode was my favorite ever, I recorded it on VHS when it was on and I rewatched it so many times. It was just all non-stop crazy shit. Robotnik discovers an interdimensional tunnel in a garbage can and it takes him to his cousin's dimension of fish where the badniks get turned into kaiju by egg bombs. It was so insane and I wish Warpnik was a canon character.
Probably a good idea could be to also digitally archive all of your animation cells using a high res photo/paper scanner that’s large enough for them! So in that case the cells could be archived as high res PNG files with transparent backgrounds and it would also make sure that if any cells are somehow destroyed or damaged they would still be permanently archived digitally! :)
At 7:05 that Grounder cel is from episode 65 soniclly ever after it's at scene 100. And at 3:57 I did decipher the production numbers at the bottom and found that the Tails cel was right at the start of the episode Zoobotnik and it's also a key end cel.
