It would basically be France, Britain, and Italy as the Axis, with Germany, USA and the Ottoman Empire along with the Yugoslav states as the Allies. Japan may even join in for round 3 against Russia and China. Would be super weird.
I love it! And here are the lists that I want to see the future video. 1. What if Korean Empire never fails. 2. What if Korea becomes the colony of France? 3. What if Japan becomes the colony of the USA? 4. What if Xinhai Revolution failed? 5. What if Two Sicilian Empire had a colony or refuse to united with Italian Empire? 6. What if USA failed in the Spanish American war? 7. What if Ethiopia was the superpower in the African continent? 8. What if Park Chunghee survives in the 10/26?
Just imagine a crew of German submariners docking in New York in 1916 or 1917 and being welcomed as 'Steuben's boys'. I would imagine there would be a deluge of propaganda art emphasizing Steuben and the Hessian mercenaries from the Revolution.
How about, "What If The Ottoman Empire Collapsed In The 1880s And Was Replaced By A Modernizing Republic?" [or even just a forward-looking dictatorship?]
So, your telling me that if the USA had sided with the German Empire my dreams of annexing Canada would have been fulfilled long before I was even born. Well, I guess I know what I'm going to do when mankind builds a time machine.
Actually i think if the US just stopped trade with the Entente they would have lost WW1. The amount of weapons and ammunition as well as food and other recources the US shipped to France the UK and italy made it possible for them to hold out until the end of the war. I think they would not even have had to actively fight to decide the conflict this way.
@@firestriker3580 I never claimed that. (may i suggest you to read my comment again?) What i claimed (in short) is that if the US would not have supplied the Entente, this would have been enough to decide the conflict against the Entente.
USA: "joins the war" Britain: Glad to be fighting alongside ya USA: "takes over canada" Britain: no no no, what are you DOING?!?!? USA: I'm becoming your doom
not in 1918 Britain was a lot more powerful than the US. literally the height of it's empire, thousands of royal navy ships the most advanced navy in the world at the time
@Amber Hoke Apart from US can field men faster, would Canadian army become smaller every time they took casualty while US Army grow bigger with each passing week? That certainly how it went down in WW2 Pacific theater, where Japan had no replacements for every loss they took.
It really would have made just as much sense to ally with Germany. The Germans were desirable trading partners and didnt work against us. Germany gets a lot of the blame for the war , but French aggression was largely to blame. The French started the Franco-Prussian War, as well. Also we'd previously been at war twice with Britain and several quasi-wars with France. The big reason to join the central powers would have been the total arrogance of the blockade of Germany. Blocking our trade with Germany and Austria is something we should have stood up to and stopped. And then there was Canada, which we still wanted.
Ideally yes, but Wilson was making bank trading with England early on. Looking back at the effects of the peace, both the US and Japan would’ve been better off either neutral or allied with the Central Powers.
Isn’t it crazy how the Germans, Austrians/Hungarians and Turks all lost their empires during WW1? Rest In Peace to one of the greatest alliances in the world!
Germans: Omg the Treaty of Versailles was so unfair! I cant even militarize the Rhineland! What bout you Austria-Hungaria? Austria: Huh? Hungary: Huh? YugoSlavia: What? Czechoslovakia: Huh? Germany: Well damn...
Austria & Serbia: Start the war Entente: "Germany did it!" Germany: Attempts to negotiate a white peace and return to status quo in 1916 Entente: "Germanys a warmonger!"
If only Germany could have *proven* that the Lusitania was carrying munitions, which was discovered to be definitely the case nearly a century after the fact, things might have been very different.
Imagine that if the US really joined the Central powers A greater United States could have been created, with all of Canada, And the caribbean colonies
you think America could win against the British in 1918? at the height of it's empire, the Royal Navy was colossal at that point in time. the British in 1918 are very different from the British in 1770's strong enough to subdue 1/3 of the planets landmass and population just remember that.

Woo! First I think. Nice concept for a video! How about “What if America and Britain became a dual country.” You’ll probably need to clean up the title, but it’s basically like Britain and America split the world between them. It would also more likely ally them more closely with Germany.
If wilson had more say in negotiations like you mentioned I dont think a reverse versailles treaty would happen. Wilson did not like how crippled it made germany and had made its own separate negotiations so I think the same could be applied to this alternate history.
Baltimore had a very large German population, with a German language paper, as well as the City Council minutes being published in German. An interesting book loosely connected to this is "The Baltimore Sabotage Cell: German Agents, American Traitors, and the U-boat Deutschland During World War I" by Dwight Messimer. It is about a then active German plot in the city during the war with German-American Sympathizers.
The reason Baltimore did have a German cell was due to Baltimore being a supply hub for ships supplying Britain. Not because of its German-American population, which wasn’t even that big. It’s ridiculous of you to claim or even just suggest that the German-Americans would have plotted against the USA in an attempt to help the German Empire. Their homeland was America - and especially German-American had been among the greatest American patriots. And don’t forget that the Germans did leave Germany BECAUSE of the fact that Germany was being ruled by a monarchist feudal system and to some extent even because it was ruled/controlled by Prussia. But the German-Americans of course were not sympathetic to the whole unconditional anti-German propaganda hysteria since they themselves did become victims of that (This anti-German propaganda actually generalized all german-americans as being potential German agents simply for being of German ancestry - similar to what you’re saying in your comment - simply because they wouldn’t declare that Germany would be evil like the mainstream media of the time did and also still spoke their native tongue of German). And to refer to those Americans that did help the German cell as American traitors seems a bit far-fetched considering that the US hasn’t even entered the war at that time and still continued to declare itself as being neutral. And they solely sabotaged privately owned and british ships. I mean what about those Americans did support their respective countries of ancestry other than Germany?
Wilson wanted to enter the war. The banking cartels that installed him into office wanted war because financing the American War machine would've been very profitable for them. The banking cartels were funding both sides of the war already and the US entering and needing to ramp up war efforts would be a wind fall. The same strategy was followed in WW2. The US waited, funded both sides until it decided to join the side that owed us the most money.
15:04 what I'd probably see is Britain, France and Italy going Communist together with Soviets because especially in France and Italy Communism and Socialism were widespread and popular ideas in our timeline and now with them losing the war the last thing keeping the Revolution at bay would be lost. The Revolutions would probably happen across the 1920s as Germany, America, Austria and the Ottoman Empire would partition the remaining colonies among themselves in the chaos.
Really entertaining. LOVE alternate history keep up the good work. I'm digging your older catalogue and and i just found an interesting alteration that i myself speculate on for a while now... i'll keep it short : What if the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth grew in strength and leadership, while the prussian fails to take the leadership and unite germany. I'll watch it right now in fact. Thx Good Content
Wilson's points were set in the context of the US joining the Entente. Wouldn't it make more sense for the US to propose different points targeted toward Britain and France?
Wilson would never act against Britain, his main adviser Colonel House, had major ties to British officials. House was also the son of a British block runner for the CSA; and not to mention that he was in England at the time of Wilson’s inauguration.
This reminds me a lot of the Southern Victory series by Harry Turtledove, an alternate history series that diverges from the American Civil War and sees events very similar to what you described here happen.
That's true Only this Scenario The US is United not divided like in Turtledoves Series With the Confederate States being Allies with UK and France Russia and USA North joins the Central Powers and wins So it would be a Easy Win for the US since 1917 Everyone was Exhausted from War Think about it Hitler or his American Counterpart Jake would have never Rose to power since their Countries would have won
In the interwar period it seems like both the US and UK's plan was for Canada to fall to the US and fight to a draw otherwise. Canada had ambitious plans of its own doomed to failure.
The novel series Southern Victory does have the United States as an ally of the German Empire in response because Britain and France allied and recognized the Confederate States of America as an Independent Nation and does fight on the side of the Central Powers-resulting in a Central Powers victory.
Wow, a scenario where someone could actually see Willson as a "good guy"... ah, who am I kidding, he probably still did all the stuff that people gate him for today. Still, I like this outcome. While the future looks grim as another world war is guaranteed, I see that this world has less far-reaching downsides. Things like the PRC, Islamic Terrorism, and a massive Cold War between Democracy and Communism can never really happen to the scale that it happened in our timeline. I can be said that this would is slightly better, as there is less unrest in the wider parts of the world, but that entirely depends on who wins this new second world war.
@Stephen Jenkins You are correct in that there would be a second world war due to radical ideologies in France and Britain, I was going for "there would be no cold war where both sides have nukes" A few things I would bring up is that Britain relied heavily on their imports from their colonies, thus with the loss of influence over their colonies either due to their freedom after the war or them distancing themselves from Britain after the ideological shift (which I will admit is unlikely as the entire Empire would share similar sentiments without US interference to bring say Austrailia into their sphere of Influence) For France the case is more severe, as compared to their Land rival of Germany, their raw resources and industry pale in comparison even if they undertook a Stalin-like plan for massive industrialization, raw resources are sparse without trading with other powers, which they would with Britain. Should the Ottoman Empire collapse (eventually it would) it will end up splitting along ethnic lines, compared to France and Britain drawing lines on a map and saying good. I recognize that there is the possibility for radical ideologies to mix with their religious nature, and to cause problems that way, but I was probably going for the "it's not a natural powderkeg area" route as there isn't countries with mixed ethnic groups fighting each other constantly. For US isolationism, yeah that would be a problem. And without very strong economic ties to Germany in terms of helping fund their war effort and getting caught in the crossfire, they are even more unlikely to join than in our world's US. In the end, this world would only be slightly different from our own, its merely a matter of perspective on how you think the world will carry on from this point.
May I make a request? May you reupload your "What if Rapture from Bioshock was real" video please? Would you kindly? I can't find it anywhere anymore I believe it was deleted at some point. It would be nice to see it again.
Because it breaks the balance of power. France and russia would dominate the small states. England does not like strong empires on the continent. German or french.
@@timvanrijn8239 I mean, your talking about realism here, And when it comes to Alternate history, there doesn't need to be any. I just thought it would be a fun scenario.
@@morsecode980 Just imagine you would split the USA into all of its states, don't you think it is clear that they will try to become a country again? The majority were proud to be German. After the First World War it would be likely that someone like Adolf Hitler would try to fight for reunification again. There would also be a risk that Germany would have continued to fight the war, because that way they would lose everything anyway. After the Second World War, it is the same situation, but you also wanted a strong trading partner against the Soviet Union. Germany clearly lost the war and there was no longer any need to split it up. Greetings from Germany :)
One idea I came up with involved the explosives on board the Lusitania to go off in an American port. The Germans had put out a notice in the papers that the ship wascarrying munitions and was therefore a valid target. With the explosion and evidence from any investigation made, relations with Britain would be seriously hurt. The Germans if they were smart would try to gain sympathy by pointing out that they had warned Americans of Britain's violation of their neutrality.
I like this, but don’t think a lot of these things would happen. For instance, I don’t think Hawaii would fall and I especially don’t think the US would annex Canada.
Germany still has a monarchy. Britain's monarchy reduced in stature. Austria-Hungary would still split (again). More high school students would be taught German. No Hitler, no Holocaust. Lusitania would still be sunk.
What this likely sets the stage for are the following: -Mussolini becomes dictator of Italy again. Il Duce, and with more Royal support. Given the drubbing they got in the last war, Italy focuses on its military forces and starts to adopt more modern arms and tactics - with spaghetti, Italy becomes more like N. Germany, in a technological and strategic sense. -Oswald Moseley becomes PM through the exact same sorts of means that The Austrian Painter did. Possibly even with fires on the House of Parliament or #10 Downing Street. -France degenerates into a mostly Communist-run state, not a N.Soc one, as the Socialists have a stronger power base, there, and inject some nationalism into their message, pushing forward French Socialism as superior to Russian Socialism. -There's almost no intervention in the Russian Red Revolution at all, allowing the Socialists there to secure power more swiftly and with fewer casualties on all sides. As a side note, the few remaining distantly-related royals manage to flee the country instead of trying to stay and fight (because no one's coming to help them), and take refuge in either The Netherlands or Sweden. -O. England and M. Italy begin cooperating a lot. England, being more aware of strategic advances and self-aware of what they can mean, works better with Italy to cross-develop equipment and combined arms that are both cutting edge, AND efficient. English military advisors inject actual discipline into Italy's officer corps, and as a result of closer cooperation, Italian officers are more effective leaders, and their NCO's, better sergeants. -France sits around and throws a muddy temper tantrum with itself for several years, including a reign of terror, and riots. -By 1929, this forces everyone to do something about it, as France is tearing itself apart. Russia intervenes for the Socialists, England and Italy intervenes for the N.Socs, Germany beefs up its border security, to prevent political contamination. Actual holders of royal French titles also flee the country, for Austria. France is eventually divided into two nations - one Communist, backed by Russia, and one N.Soc, backed by England and Italy. Corsica breaks away as an independent nation. Whatever remaining colonial assets France has in Africa, are partially gobbled up by Germany, partly split between the two states, and partly "administered" by O. England and M. Italy. -By 1932, America has 53 states and 4 Territories, adding Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Yukon as US states, while the NWT, Alaska, and Hawaii continue to exist as Territories, the Caribbean Territory is also added, making up France and England's former colonial possessions, there. Some land from Columbia is given to Montana, Idaho, and Washington, while some land from Manitoba is given to Minnesota so a full land path exists to The Northwest Angle. -Japan, though defeated in the last war, sets its sights on China, considering the last war's defeat a mere technicality, and their thirst for conquest and creation of TGEACPS unquenched. -The Washington and London naval treaties are attempted, but never implemented, as O. England refuses to abide the terms, France is in turmoil, Japan thusly refuses to attend, and Italy sees no point in the matter. Germany and Austria would rather not have such a thing, knowing England and now Italy were a threat.
-The lack of Naval Treaties leads all the world powers to continue to covet Battleships, and despite Billy Mitchell successfully bombing the captured British battleship Collingwood, aircraft carriers are seen as little more than prospects for mobile airborne scouting platforms. Larger battleships are constructed, including the first _South Dakota_ class, and plans for even larger battleships are made - though their style and scope are still merely incremental upgrades from The Great War. As a result, the "Pocket Battleship" remains a mere flight of fancy concept that never takes form. -Japan, again, realizes the real strengths of naval aviation, as does England, with whom it's beginning to form an alliance, for the mutual goal of carving up the Pacific and Indian Ocean areas. -A new Axis forms by 1935, between Japan, M. Italy, and O. England. France is doing poorly, and suffering from a general economic depression in both halves of it, and are still engaging in minor border skirmishes. -Stalin never takes power, and is eliminated by Lev Kamenev and Leon Trotsky's faction before Lenin's third stroke. Since Trotsky was the military engineer of victory in a much less bloody Revolution, he's seen as the best choice to succeed Lenin, and he himself - bolstered by a few more not-dead allies - decided to secure it. As a result, Trotsky helps ensure the growing Soviet bureaucracy is brought to heel, harshly. Unlike Stalin, he's not set on purges of the ranks to the same degree, and his negotiation abilities ensure his place as head of the Soviet state. -As a result of Trotsky and not Stalin being in charge, the Soviet armed forces are smaller, but more professional, and while still conscripted, done so at a lower rate. The Soviet Union pushes for a more neutral stance in the world, espousing its beliefs and supporting revolutions, but not taking an active role in any of them. -With the China Question becoming paramount, however, the Soviets begin a military intervention on their border with China, mainly to secure a buffer zone against whomever eventually wins, there. In summary, the stage is again being set for a global war, but not as fast, nor with the same dance partners, as our World War II. It's more likely that a potential conflict would erupt in Canada, or over Canada, and also likely that the Japanese would again attempt to bomb Pearl Harbor. The Soviets would likely remain neutral, and Germany and Austria would likely only get involved if they think they can gain something from it. Other than that, it would be the United States against at least Japan, and possibly England and Italy later, when they see America distracted by the Pacific War and decide to attempt something. I see Austria as the most likely to join the United States first, as they might want whatever little is left of Italy's African possessions, and some of Italy itself. Germany would likely only join after Austria does, as it stands to gain the absolute least, unless they seriously think that they can not only take, but hold, Britain's African colonies. The Soviets likely wouldn't get involved at all. N.Soc France might join as an ally of England and Italy, but their contribution would be like Italy's in our World War 2 - largely ineffectual, and more a detriment to their dance partners, as they might try to retake bits of Africa, with an Officer and NCO corps largely out of touch with the private soldiers.
How come every video you make would make a great Hearts of Iron IV overhaul mod, with enough worldbuilding and more parts to this scenario or ones like it, mods like kaiserreich would have nothing on your scenarios
For April fools or just for a fun video, you should do "What if The German Empire lost the Weltkrieg" Like, from the perspective of a Kaiserreich scenario of if they won, discussing a Fuherreich-like scenario of if they lost the war
Simply stopping all trade going to the Entente would be a crippling enough blow to the war effort. Britain could try and blockade America which wouldn't work on a country which produced 90% of its own goods.
You should do a mega alt history scenario like the mcu but for alt history with a bunch of different scenarios combined into one big scenario. Also what if barry goldwater won in 1964
How about this? Central Powers strategy is to initially fight a purely defensive war on the Western Front, allowing the British and French to sacrifice as many men against German trenches as they want, while focusing the offense against Russia in the East. Russia is defeated by before the end of 1916. Germany then decides any gains in the West would come at a steep price, or maybe the USA threatens to enter the war if Germany doesn't agree to peace. The war ends with a Central Powers victory over Russia and a draw in the west. What does the peace settlement look like? What happens the rest of the 20th century?
Royal Navy would quickly devastate the US east coast. A large, battle-hardened combined empire force would land in Canada against the US. Germans take Paris and negotiate a separate peace like they did with Russia. Possibly of British armistice favouring German European and colonial uptake. British empire faces down the US through 1919.

As a Marylander who likes history, I didn’t know this
The reason Baltimore did have a German cell was due to Baltimore being a supply hub for ships supplying Britain.

No it wouldn’t
Wilson would never act against Britain, his main adviser Colonel House, had major ties to British officials. House was also the son of a British block runner for the CSA; and not to mention that he was in England at the time of Wilson’s inauguration.
This is a good alternate history and I would enjoy a few more episodes going through the Depression (if it happens), the Cold War up to Covid-19.

@Stephen Jenkins You are correct in that there would be a second world war due to radical ideologies in France and Britain, I was going for "there would be no cold war where both sides have nukes"
A few things I would bring up is that Britain relied heavily on their imports from their colonies, thus with the loss of influence over their colonies either due to their freedom after the war or them distancing themselves from Britain after the ideological shift (which I will admit is unlikely as the entire Empire would share similar sentiments without US interference to bring say Austrailia into their sphere of Influence)
For France the case is more severe, as compared to their Land rival of Germany, their raw resources and industry pale in comparison even if they undertook a Stalin-like plan for massive industrialization, raw resources are sparse without trading with other powers, which they would with Britain.

What if Alexander Hamilton was never killed in the duel with Aaron Burr? And became president?
I’ve been waiting for this
One idea I came up with involved the explosives on board the Lusitania to go off in an American port.
What this likely sets the stage for are the following:
-Mussolini becomes dictator of Italy again.

Germany shouldn't have been blamed solely for WWl
You should do a mega alt history scenario like the mcu but for alt history with a bunch of different scenarios combined into one big scenario.
Also what if barry goldwater won in 1964
I watched this video before playing RISK
How about this? Central Powers strategy is to initially fight a purely defensive war on the Western Front, allowing the British and French to sacrifice as many men against German trenches as they want, while focusing the offense against Russia in the East. Russia is defeated by before the end of 1916.
Germany then decides any gains in the West would come at a steep price, or maybe the USA threatens to enter the war if Germany doesn't agree to peace. The war ends with a Central Powers victory over Russia and a draw in the west.
What does the peace settlement look like? What happens the rest of the 20th century?
0:30 caption says: “The meeting of the glorious Hungarian and Bulgarian armies at Kladovo on October 27, 1915”. :D
I dont think the royal navy would completely stomp the us navy that easily, even back then
the us navy was quite large in ww1 the British still need to keep up the blockade
@@gottliebgamer2783 do you have a source about the strength of the us navy? I know the army was pretty weak back then but i know the us navy was second only to the royal navy back then
To adress OPs accessment, the UK would have a two front naval war to contend with in the event of the us joining the central powers. It would not be easy for the royal navy to control the us's side of the atlantic
@@DylanJo123 The US Navy had only recently started a rapid expansion in 1916. However training standards was at such a low point that the British Navy actively refused to allow US ships to sail alongside the Grand Fleet's blockade until they were trained up to British standards.
The US had 14 Battleships and Germany had 24. Britain alone has 42. France, Italy and Russia adds in 13. Japan adds in 8.
This is only in capital ship numbers, if we go into light ships then the US was woefully unprepared having absolutely no long range cruisers for scouting, and severely lacking in any destroyers.
That's a frightening map there at 6:19. I love that Bismarck, ND still remains albeit with an added "C".
Don't do that, don't give me hope.
Britain: you were supposed to destroy the Germany not join them! Bring balance to the europe, not leave it in ruins! You were by brother us, I loved you
Us: haha us go stronk
Tl;DW : The world would be a MUCH better place if America had joined the Central Powers.
If America lost the revolution it would be a utopia
@@rubycooly2009 No it wouldn’t

Nah
1:33 Oh wow I was at that castle during my trip to Ukraine a few years ago. It’s called Kaminets Podilsky. I had no idea that this photograph existed or even that so many German soldiers walked down that same bridge I crossed.
