@@dkadwoa4114 You can remove the lower leaves on the cutting and just leave the top leaves. Then root the stem in water. The nodes where you removed the lower leaves is where the new roots will come out of. You can also plant directly into soil, making sure to bury the new nodes and it will become a new plant.
Thank you verrrry much. I did Not Know this! I wondered why mine seemed not to produce abundantly, yet my friends was massive & we have both in a hydroponic garden. ❤
I just cut the flower off and it keeps growing leaves. Idk if i want to try this. Everything is going so well, id hate to screw it up. I may try it with one plant
I’ve been pruning like this since always and always have good harvest of basil throughout summer and make lots of pesto jars to freeze - but I’ve NEVER gotten my basil to grow like showing one in video where he says “forest”
Tell me what to do, I'm devastated. The pest control company sprayed over my herbs mint, oregano 3×3×3 (it was ready to cut it and dry it, it had flowered), over 100 basils, and some carrots.😢😢😢😢
I stopped pruning like that because i don't want to get tall. I just picked the top buds before it flowered so it spread into a brush up to 1 feet only with green thick leaves. Basil is super easy to grow i just water it no water is too muchh for them. It loves the showers more is better and grow super quick. As a matter of facts i only grew it once the next year it grows itself and self care lol no nutrients, or mulche added i just water it daily lots of it, thrives like crazy! Even 120 degree yes
Thanks for the instructions on its care. I didn’t know to do this. The basil I’m growing seems so fragile. It doesn’t like full sunlight it seems so it’s hidden in the shade of a raised bed and seems to be doing well there.
I didn't know people would put full leaves on their food like we do with spinach. If it is anything like spinach then I would like to cut the stems off because if you don't you sometimes end up deep throating a stem and that's not fun.
That plant doesn't form a base, so it is not basal. It was a plant esteemed by Greeks, so it was carried to the building called a basilica, where the basileus held his court. The plant, and many male children were then named Basil, like sick fish --> bass ill.
The taste is way better when you have young plants from the seeds. It's day and night. These techniques lead to all the crappy basil leaves that you buy in the US grocery stores.
Well now I gotta go prune my basil
Update: already has tons of new growth. Made pesto with the pruned basil!
@@c.j.c.6293 dang now i have even the more reason to prune my basil!
@@axora7863 good luck 🙂
😂😅 I just said the exact thing 😅
Me too 😢 And I just wanted to play in bed. On the hunt for my scattered basil plants
Can also root the cutting to grow as a new plant 👍
How

Thanks so much for explaining how to propagate it for plant newbies like myself. I was waiting for this clip to explain that but it didn’t.
@@bibotgames Basil can grow roots from the cut, no need to bury the nodes
I already know this but I loved the editing of your video. It makes it so easy for anyone to understand and digest in seconds.
🦆 didn't even know basil could flower like that! Thank you for the information
😅
i do the same for my mint! cant wait for it to really flourish so i can have mint tea and muddled mint lattes whenever i want :D
Yes! I’m so happy to know this!! Learn something new every day!! Thank you!!
❤️💜💚
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching :)

Enjoy your clippings ! Yum! Thanks for watching :)
@@MindandSoil Coincidently, today I was gifted about 60 basil plants! So I will indeed have a forrest! lol 🙂
Pesto pucks? Do you have a video on making those? Would love to try it. 🙂

Use an ice cube tray instead! Way easier!
Just make pesto and then freeze it on some wax paper on a baking tray, then peel them off and throw in a container once they're frozen
@@emmaaxelson7821 Thank you! 😊
Would love your pesto pucks recipe please and thank you!
Same!
I love your term 'pesto pucks'... 😊👍🌿❤

Wow that’s amazing ❤
I have done this for the longest time but for mint
Thanks for the info!!

Remember to stop the hydra from forming more head You must burn it after you cut one head off to stop regeneration.
Hail Hydra
I just cut the flower off and it keeps growing leaves. Idk if i want to try this. Everything is going so well, id hate to screw it up. I may try it with one plant
It will also keep growing more and more flowers you have to trim🙃
You can do this with weed too
Thank you for this info now I know to prune my basil ❤
So glad it was helpful 😊 Enjoy!

Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching :)
Ok, I seriously gotta prune my basil like yesterday. Thanks for the video, straight to the point is much appreciated.
Great information. Thanks. Often mine seed out.
I actually like to eat those flowers, too. I put them on my pizza with the leaves.
The stems are also very useful for green pesto
Do you wash your pruning shears with bleach ?
My Tomato crops suffer from pest and disease, so i wash them with bleach then soapy water.
Aloha hugs 🤗 I just went out in the Garden and did this I may have stopped bugs spread too
Don't have to prune basil around here, the squirrels do it for you!
Going to put shavings of Irish spring soap around the bottom.Souirrels detest the emell

Oh man for weeks my basil has stopped growing leaves and only flowers, can I still use this technique long after it has flowered?
Love it
Thanks for watching :)

My buddy did this with his pot plants two years ago and it works!… he’s still trimming. 😂😂
I miss my basil😢 I killed it because I didn't know how to care for it. I should give it another try 😊 I've always wanted an herb garden
"double it and give it to the next person"
To make an even bigger or more lush forest of basil, root your prunings! It is so easily propagated!
Hurry up and abuse this glitch before God patches it
Cool beans‼️
Can we do the same for mint?
Mint is very productive and will definitely get more dense with harvest
Thanks 👍🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
No problem 👍 Thanks for watching!
Basil pucks ?? Can you share that recipe please 🙏 😊
Is this also how to prune mint??
Indeed
Great, now I just need a warm climate to live in and a garden
Basil can be grown in a little pot indoors! Or they have table top gardens that are fun for indoor growing too :)
This also works on your penis.
🐛 hi nice basil leaves you have there. imma eat em all k... .... .. ... .🐛🐛🐛
Topping !
Gotta do this
I don't prune mine and they are 4' tall bushes, verity called "sweet basil"
foxisthebest... is that the kind that produces mammoth size leaves ??
Congratulations this guys just unlocked farming
Honestly, I do none of this but always have more basil than I can use
The plants make a lot and not a lot of foods use much basil
So this is why my basil plant is trying to turn into a tree
can i do this with sage too? I want my sage plant to grow big but it is small w small leaves
Thanks reminder and for showing us the technique. I would love to have a basil forest. It's too late for this year, though.
So glad it was helpful ! A great idea for next year :)
I know this, but not from basil 😉
Hi please help. My Basil has some nodes with 4 leaves (2 sets) and some with 2 leaves (1 set). Can one cut above a node that only contains 2 leaves ?
Oh damn I didn’t know basil was capable of becoming a flower
Yes it goes to flower and then seed at the end of its season, that is how it reproduces itself :)
The flowers are pretty but slow down production.
I believe most plants you see that aren't cone bearing plants, ferns or mosses grow flowers and bare fruit
I just planted my basil yesterday and noticed that it was flowering and I wondered what to do then I found your video. Thank you sooo much! 😊
I wish I could prune my basils like that, but snails and slugs have already done that for me and certainly they didn't watch your video
Haha! The snails and slugs can be pesky! Maybe next year :)
Link to pesto pucks plz
I freaking love you [no homo] thanks for the education
Glad you are enjoy it! Thanks for watching :)
Cool😮
Well, you do know you can prune these seeds and let them ripen out to plant more basil, and the previous basil grows stems and leafs, right?
So a basil is just a hydra

Don’t you chemical compose when you are planning to eat your plants.
Why? I don’t know 😂
Niice, can you do one about Thyme ?
Is it true you can only harvest 64 times this way before the universe go bang again?
Already got too many basil that I dont know what to do anymore😅
Woo hoo! That’s what I like to hear! :)
Could I have the wrong potting soil? So heavy compared to what it came in, and plant is droopy.
save the seeds n add them to ur drinks

It’s called
Topping… topping is what it’s called😊
So it’s basically a hydra 🤯🤯

Mine already flowered. What happens if I prune it now?
May basil leaves always gotten eaten by a caterpillar before they can have 4 🌱 idk what to do
Those were two different types of basil. Sweet basil and the one with the flower was Thai basil
Today I learnt the term 'pesto pucks'.
Gonna have to look that one up.

Welcome 😊 Thanks for watching !
Can those grow big in that small pot or they need to be in bigger pots. The basil forrest those are on big pots???
You get a nice tree trunk if you have it long enough 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫
Its called topping! Pluck one top becomes two
Those basil leaves are bigger than my avocado tree's leaves
