@@dkadwoa4114 You can remove the lower leaves on the cutting and just leave the top leaves. Then root the stem in water. The nodes where you removed the lower leaves is where the new roots will come out of. You can also plant directly into soil, making sure to bury the new nodes and it will become a new plant.
Thank you verrrry much. I did Not Know this! I wondered why mine seemed not to produce abundantly, yet my friends was massive & we have both in a hydroponic garden. ❤
I stopped pruning like that because i don't want to get tall. I just picked the top buds before it flowered so it spread into a brush up to 1 feet only with green thick leaves. Basil is super easy to grow i just water it no water is too muchh for them. It loves the showers more is better and grow super quick. As a matter of facts i only grew it once the next year it grows itself and self care lol no nutrients, or mulche added i just water it daily lots of it, thrives like crazy! Even 120 degree yes
Thanks for the instructions on its care. I didn’t know to do this. The basil I’m growing seems so fragile. It doesn’t like full sunlight it seems so it’s hidden in the shade of a raised bed and seems to be doing well there.
I just cut the flower off and it keeps growing leaves. Idk if i want to try this. Everything is going so well, id hate to screw it up. I may try it with one plant
I just bought a basil plant from the supermarket and put it in some soil, it seems to be surviving quite well, should I still prune and if yes, where should I cut? It's a cluster of five stems about a foot high.
Thank you for this video I genuinely had no idea I had to prune my basil!!!! I shouldve done more reasearch on its care before hand but at least ik now XD
Tell me what to do, I'm devastated. The pest control company sprayed over my herbs mint, oregano 3×3×3 (it was ready to cut it and dry it, it had flowered), over 100 basils, and some carrots.😢😢😢😢
I’ve been pruning like this since always and always have good harvest of basil throughout summer and make lots of pesto jars to freeze - but I’ve NEVER gotten my basil to grow like showing one in video where he says “forest”
Well now I gotta go prune my basil
Update: already has tons of new growth. Made pesto with the pruned basil!
@@c.j.c.6293 dang now i have even the more reason to prune my basil!
@@axora7863 good luck 🙂
😂😅 I just said the exact thing 😅
Me too 😢 And I just wanted to play in bed. On the hunt for my scattered basil plants
Can also root the cutting to grow as a new plant 👍

Thanks so much for explaining how to propagate it for plant newbies like myself. I was waiting for this clip to explain that but it didn’t.
@@bibotgames Basil can grow roots from the cut, no need to bury the nodes
I already know this but I loved the editing of your video. It makes it so easy for anyone to understand and digest in seconds.
Best ever short! Thank you, you used this moment to truly teach and not do what so many before have done “hint”.. A BIG Shout Out Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching :)
Finally, an easy method and explanation!
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching :)
🦆 didn't even know basil could flower like that! Thank you for the information
😅
I love basil, so this instruction is really valuable. Thank you.
Ok, I seriously gotta prune my basil like yesterday. Thanks for the video, straight to the point is much appreciated.
i do the same for my mint! cant wait for it to really flourish so i can have mint tea and muddled mint lattes whenever i want :D
I just planted my basil yesterday and noticed that it was flowering and I wondered what to do then I found your video. Thank you sooo much! 😊
Yes! I’m so happy to know this!! Learn something new every day!! Thank you!!

Remember to stop the hydra from forming more head You must burn it after you cut one head off to stop regeneration.
Hail Hydra
Aloha hugs 🤗 I just went out in the Garden and did this I may have stopped bugs spread too
Wow that’s amazing ❤
I love your term 'pesto pucks'... 😊👍🌿❤
You are a wonderful teacher. I’m learning a lot. Thank you ❤

@@MindandSoil Coincidently, today I was gifted about 60 basil plants! So I will indeed have a forrest! lol 🙂
I actually like to eat those flowers, too. I put them on my pizza with the leaves.
Excellent explanation!! Well done!! 👍
Excellent tip!!! Thank you
Thanks for the info!!

This is so smart! Thank you!
Do you wash your pruning shears with bleach ?
My Tomato crops suffer from pest and disease, so i wash them with bleach then soapy water.
Thanks you!
Thanks reminder and for showing us the technique. I would love to have a basil forest. It's too late for this year, though.
So glad it was helpful ! A great idea for next year :)
Great information. Thanks. Often mine seed out.

Pesto pucks? Do you have a video on making those? Would love to try it. 🙂

Use an ice cube tray instead! Way easier!
Just make pesto and then freeze it on some wax paper on a baking tray, then peel them off and throw in a container once they're frozen

Oh ok that makes sense! Thank you
Delicious! Great info!

Wow! Gotta prune my basil right now!!
My buddy did this with his pot plants two years ago and it works!… he’s still trimming. 😂😂
Is this the same for all herbs or just basil?
Wow basil my favorite plant's
They are one of my favourites as well! Thank you for watching :)
Very helpful. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching :)
Would love your pesto pucks recipe please and thank you!
Same!
I love basil.
I have done this for the longest time but for mint
Oh damn I didn’t know basil was capable of becoming a flower
Yes it goes to flower and then seed at the end of its season, that is how it reproduces itself :)
The flowers are pretty but slow down production.
I believe most plants you see that aren't cone bearing plants, ferns or mosses grow flowers and bare fruit
I just cut the flower off and it keeps growing leaves. Idk if i want to try this. Everything is going so well, id hate to screw it up. I may try it with one plant
Oh man for weeks my basil has stopped growing leaves and only flowers, can I still use this technique long after it has flowered?

So you're topping the plant ? I've been doing this to a different type of plant for over a decade but didn't know it worked on other kinds of plants
It will also keep growing more and more flowers you have to trim🙃
If I already have flowers on there, can I cut them and they keep growing?
Well, you do know you can prune these seeds and let them ripen out to plant more basil, and the previous basil grows stems and leafs, right?
Pls help for Curry Leaves, same problem with curry leaves! It's used in South Indian Dishes
How long will it take for the stamps to grow once we prune?
Thank you 😊

Great. Ty!
Can those grow big in that small pot or they need to be in bigger pots. The basil forrest those are on big pots???
Can we do the same for mint?
Mint is very productive and will definitely get more dense with harvest
Cool beans‼️
Hey Sir is there anyway to get leaves after it blooms/flowers? It seems like there should be...
does this work on mint too?
The stems are also very useful for green pesto
can i do this with sage too? I want my sage plant to grow big but it is small w small leaves
Cut one head off…,TWO more grow back. Hail Hydra!!*german accent

Gotta do this
Very nice

Basil pucks ?? Can you share that recipe please 🙏 😊
Nice, mine would always go to flower too soon
You can always cut the flowers off when that happen to prolong your production season :)
Thank you. Now I know why my Basil always shot to flower. Will do.
Is this also how to prune mint??
Indeed
Today I learnt the term 'pesto pucks'.
Gonna have to look that one up.

I did not know that, thanks
Mine already flowered. What happens if I prune it now?
So it's a hydra?
To make an even bigger or more lush forest of basil, root your prunings! It is so easily propagated!
I have tried to grow it multiple times but always get bugs. Any advice?
Do some research on watering and spacing. Over watering and overcrowded planting creates an atmosphere perfect for pests.
Depends on the bugs. Use neem oil.
Do you have a good pesto recipe?
So this is why my basil plant is trying to turn into a tree
Mhm just reminded me 😅 now imma go prune my basil
But i LOVE dem wittle basil flowers 🥺
I know me too! So so the bees! This does help with production though :)
Hi please help. My Basil has some nodes with 4 leaves (2 sets) and some with 2 leaves (1 set). Can one cut above a node that only contains 2 leaves ?
Congratulations this guys just unlocked farming
