Matt, been watching you since the BRZ. I will like every one of your damn videos till you get your car back, or maybe one you want more! You rock man and never stop doing what you love.
@@MattMaranMotoringHave you considered getting a Stinger/G70 as an affordable "sports" car? Curious if you were thinking of a replacement for the Mustang.
Great review. Have the 2.5T in Makula Grey. Great car. Genesis puts some really great touches in these cars. I really like the passenger seat controls easily accessible by the driver. I don’t think any other car has that. Yes the back is tight. Too bad Genesis never made this into a coupe!
Not sure how Matt manages to keep a running spreadsheet in his head of the features and price points of each vehicle and its competitors. Very impressive!
That weight definitely plays a big role in why the acceleration seemed pretty underwhelming. I got to agree Matt I miss the Stinger GT to! Great review as always.
I really LOVE this car and it would be my pick in this class. But I would have to get the top model. The seats are so much better and the full digital cluster is nice to have. It's a great deal too, no matter which one you choose.
Thank you for the review. The G70 seems like one of the best priced sedans right now in terms of features and power for your money. If my area got a dedicated Genesis Dealer (I live in Butler county, Wexford Genesis really is just a Hyundai dealer unfortunately) I'd consider them. Until then, I'm aiming for a TLX.
It was very interesting that the acceleration wasn't a bit quicker, but I guess it makes sense because of the curb weight of the vehicle and the moderate transmission. I'm curious what would happen if that engine was paired with a more aggressive transmission and a lighter vehicle. 😁 Thanks for this great review! 👍
Thanks for watching! One vehicle that kind of fits your hypothetical would be the Sonata N-Line, with the 2.5T paired up there to the 8 speed DCT and those are a little lighter than this I think. Here's that video if you haven't seen it and are curious: ruclips.net/video/B5Bp80Pdihk/видео.html
@@MattMaranMotoring Awesome!! I forgot about that one! I checked out the video (thanks so much for the link) and wow! What a difference! So cool to be able to see that engine unleashed in a lighter package with a sportier transmission! Very cool! 😎👍👍 Thanks again!
I have the '24 Sonata N-Line with the 2.5T and DCT transmission. Matt is correct. I have clocked 0-60 at 5.1. The DCT is a BEAST at high RPMs and pulls right to the limit. This car puts a smile on my face every day...and for $ 12K less than the Genesis.
Matt, I had one of these as a rental only a couple of weeks ago. I've got to say, I disagree on the "big naturally-aspirated" feel. If I'm cruising on the highway and need to make a pass, there's almost two seconds of turbo lag before the boost really comes on. It was kinda surprising to be honest - my wife's BMW X3 with the B48 has noticeably less turbo lag, and the big nautrally aspirated engine in my IS 500 feels completely different to this, of course. I really like the G70. I just love the way the cabin is laid out and how weighty all the inputs feel. It's something I'd consider - with the V6.
I am a Lexus fan at heart, I currently own a Lexus ES, and have always loved the brand but for my next car I am strongly considering the G70 over an IS350, the value proposition is just insane especially on the used market, I can get a 2022 G70 with about 30k miles for about 30grand compared to a 2022 IS350 F-sport which still stickers for about 40 grand. The IS holds its value much better and will definitely be more reliable but the extra power and more updated interior of the G70 is swaying me.
I will have a hybrid review posting in September but I don't have any info on if/when I'll get a chance to review the N Line, but hopefully I'll be able to review one eventually.
You guys really don’t mind the front end on this? To me this grill is just a failed attempt to come up with something new and not a copy of one of the german competitors. Genesis needs to do something about the design of their vehicles. But it’s just my opinion. Great video Matt!
Matt, the CT4 Premium Luxury has the available 2.7 T. Would you still take this G70 or the Caddy? Yes i know the Caddy is a tweener and technically goes against the A3/S3, but it's basically the same size as this Genesis so i had to ask.
Hmmm, that’s tough. I’ve only ever driven the V and Blackwing versions so it’s hard for me to say how a regular CT4 with the 2.7 would handle. But based on the V, it certainly handles better than the G70 in my opinion.
@@MattMaranMotoring thanks for the feedback. I guess I'd have to verify if the non V also has magna ride suspension available, if so I would personally go for the Caddy
This has a performance WET DUAL CLUTCH (DCT) transmission. At the track with good conditions and a decent launch they are closer to 5 seconds flat 0-60.
If you’re not used to my videos, the road noise may be higher than other videos. I use a camera mounted mic to pick up all the engine and cabin sounds better than the average lapel mic that most others use.
That'll come down to your expectations of what is "quiet enough" and what you're used to but in my opinion the road noise is average for a luxury sport sedan, which means fairly quiet, better than a non-luxury car for sure.
Alittle late to the game on this one. The 2025 models are already out and 2024s are going away... But it doesn't really matter because the 2024 G70s were barley on lots for 6 months before they re-labled them as 2025. So this video also serves as a review for the 2025 year model 😂😂. There is literally not a single thing that is different between the 2024 and 2025 year models. Really odd move by Genesis to label their 2024 model as 2025 despite not even being out a full year.
Deal breaker with this car is the rear seats. They are laughably small. Makes no sense that they are as small as they are for the overall size of this car. There is also the rather big growing pains that a lot of Hyundai/Kia products have had recently. They all claim to have a 10 year warranty, but search around and you will see a warranty is only good if the company behind it is willing to honor it. Genesis, as much as they want to go upscale, still is part of Hyundai and with that comes some of those bad business practices. I really love the looks of this car and it looks great with a tan interior, but between those tiny rear seats and questionable reliability, it's a no-sale for me.
First of all, I've never heard Matt complaining about his decline in views. He simply states the facts that his views are down, which affects his income. Secondly, if "not so popular and weird" is your argument for lack of views, you've obviously never seen a Doug Demuro video. Thirdly, Genesis is a well known and fairly popular brand, and the G70 seems like a pretty normal car, if you watched the video.
You’ve picked a weird point in time to complain about this when I’ve been doing popular cars nonstop recently. Corvette, WRX, Elantra N, GR86, Mustang, etc.
@MattMaranMotoring No complaining at all, just pointing out my honest opinion. I have been here from the BRZ days, and trust me, I wish you all the best.

The Audi A4 would still the best option for me but it needs a major refresh and it is harder and harder to justifying buying it.
Really?! Personally, noo way man
Even the 2023 elantra has wireless android!
I wish the far more usable Stinger would have stayed and they killed off the G70
