Ive just done a washing machine motor overhall with new bearings and brushes luckily i have a 20 ton automotive wheel bearing press in my garage to press off and press on new bearings including the end where the belt goes, mine had splines but the press made light work of it, i think i would of got through several pullers doing it that way.
Yeah my set up took it right off.. these are not usually hard to remove at all. And to get it out is like 6 panel screws and 3 bolts holding the motor. Extremely easy and no reason to NOT do it yourself!
I would like an advice, so i have hisense bldc motor from washing machine and i want to open motor to rewind it but screws in it are too tight like its welded inside also head of screw is cross.Any idea how to unscrew those screws that hold stator with housing?
Hi, I am working a washer motor from Frigidaire Washing machine. The motor case is connected with a long screw with a very specialized head, male single slot (opposite of standard flat slot with much thicker width). Have you seen it? I am trying to find a tool for such head, but I can't. If you know anything, please let me know. Thank you.
Owen, is that a challenge to remove and replace the pulley with a press? Besides that the generator on the scrap proven turbine to took apart a few years ago had no only a tight fit but locktite also, plenty of heat needed, cheers
Hi Andy. I did it a few years ago with heat and a pullers. It’s one of those things, it can be done but I think it would be much easier to come by another motor. Even though we would consider bearings to be a service item, the designers of these machines don’t. Maybe I should build a press!
@@bootsowen Owen, I rescued Uncle Harold's press in my mission to save his machines. A little bit of modification and its just grand. If you get round to it one of these is a real workshop benefit. This one has a 12 ton jack and made from thick wall two inch box, but I think the bigger and thicker the frame the better, cheers
Hi friend, nice video..... although i saw it after i fix it.....;-) First i heat it and put some wd40 and i couldn't pull out the pulley with a small clamp like yours......after that i tried with a big clamp and i pull out the bearing and the bearing pushed the pulley and all together came out..... I was about to leave it and buy a new one.....It was very hard like you say.... (sorry for my english) the replacement bearings cost me 7,5euro.....
well disaster struck with great sadness the motor i stripped n cleaned to get rid of carbon dust fab replaced the brushes all seemed fine chk for any leakage path to earth all seemed ok so with that i fitted the motor bck plugged back in turned on fine power into machine good . Went for the big one turned onto quick program wash as it started up lol massive flash then a a bang from the front panel then the lights went off fuse board tripped hey pressto no more washing machine !!!! took the board out massive burnt out track fried components so you got the small smoke puff out the back i got the massive bang n game over version so something must short out in these motors when worn ??
Just go to a car repair store and use hydraulic press to take out pulley buddy, replace brushes and just rub pumice stone to make motor quiet.. you absolutely don’t need to a new motor ;D
Yeah it's a tough line. Sometimes I have a suitable motor available. Sometimes ya don't. So yeah. I've done bearings many times. It's cheaper if your not worried about labour. But it's not too taxing.
I managed to do it without any problems in the Samsung and Beko washing machines

I think a big bearing press is the only way, it did it with a little pullers and heat once, wrecked the pullers, waste of time.

A different design of bearing puller does the job. With plates/blades that slide underneath a bearing.

Cut them off and replace?
@@bootsowen what i also notice its not like it will fall of after cutting off, its like normal screw but tighten up

can you use a pliers?
@@bootsowen For two upper screws, yes. But two bottom screws are deep in a hole of a metal structure...
@@bootsowen I ended up with cutting the bolts.

is there any oil that could be safely sprayed into the bearing to extend its lifetime?
You could, but they should really have grease.
@@bootsowen and there's no way to do that unless it's totally disassembled I'm guessing...

Cool, how did you get the pulley back on?
@@bootsowen with a hammer..... 😀my wife has already test it (4 times) and until now everything work perfect....
If its burnt rewire it, use bigger wire itll kick more ass (itll have more torque and rpm)
Maybe if you could get a new pulley, you could cut the old one off?
Very entertaining video, thanks!

You might be better off with a small 6 tonne press.
I have the parts and I am planning on making one with a 50 tonne jack.
might as well just buy a whole new motor if the motor bearings are dead
You could do that, or you could throw a brick in the washing machine. usually new replacement motors cost more than the machines that I deal with.
