  • There was a time Marcelo was arguably the best left back in world football.
He spent 15 years at Real Madrid in which he went from Roberto Carlos' replacement to the most decorated player in the clubs history. But, 2018 began his sudden and unexpected career decline despite being only just 30 years old at the time.
Now, the same year in which this decline was becoming very visible was the same year his teammate and really close friend, Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid leading to many fans believing that Ronaldo's departure had something to do with it.
    But is this actually true?
This video aims to explain how and why Marcelo declined so hard at Real Madrid so rapidly and unexpectedly.
This is the unexpectedly decline of Marcelo.

Marcelo has been one of my favourite players since 2010 during the Mourinho era, absolutely amazing player

Team chemistry is the secret sauce that most teams need to achieve a truly good team/ player.
His best friend leaving and maybe feeling ostracized and different than the rest could definitely break his gameplay down in the worst way.

If Messi stayed at Barca last season would he still be there this season

Well, as impossible as it was to keep him last season, if Barca had somehow managed to do so, he'll surely still have been at the club for this season because he would have signed maybe a 2-3-year contract. And since his contract was somehow able to get over the line, La liga wouldn't have been able to do anything from their part if this happens to negatively affect the club's finances.
