lmao I think the same thing, the amount of braindead people in the world now is concerning, its even worse when they see one of these ads and (the ones which show a demo but the player does it really badly) and the people actually believe they are good at the game because they are better than the demo despite never playing and the demo just being another disingenuous representation of the skill level
Okay, I don't know how it is for other mobile games but the mobile puzzle games, I think they get people hooked or download them because the ad is completely trash at trying to solve the puzzle which is somewhat compelling enough for people to download it and beat the puzzle. Maybe even factor in a little bit of ego-stroking as well.

14:46 look how rotted his brain is. He gets so offended by the fact that these games and slot machines take advantage of people who have problem with spending/gambling and at 15:20 mocks them with that gasp like people don't ruin their lives with gambling or microtransactions.
He is completely detached from the reality of most people. He can gamble away 80% of his net worth and still be a millionaire easily, While having a pretty stable cash flow in. A lot of people who have gambling addictions don't have that luxury and lose everything doing exactly what he does. He'd be homeless and on the street if he wasn't a rich streamer with the gambling he does.

My uncle did this in like 2009. Some crime mob game, maybe Mafia Wars. Bro was always playing it and was one of the top on the leaderboards. Then one day I didnt see him playing it and asked why, he said he won. He got rank 1 in the world and I never saw him play another mobile game again 😆

Theres a kingdom game I unfortunately spent 5k on when I was overseas in Qatar for the Army, and im not even joking when the leaderboards on this one in particular were filled with people who have spent over 100k

@@haiscore2614 they make it to where if you get invested and actually enjoy the gameplay then you’re cooked, once you start leveling up buildings, troops, etc they make the “build time” over 1 year + real time to finish, or you can slap in some cash to finish it instantly

The download amounts for trashy mobile games I’ve always found sus. Like clash of clans has like 500 million something downloads but it’s been around over 10 years and is probably one of the most successful mobile games ever. Ain’t no way these trash games are pulling similar numbers when no one actually plays them, their reviews are trash, and the game advertised isn’t even the one you play. I’m wondering if they pull some type of bot downloads or backend manipulation to get those numbers

Your forgetting how many parents these days sit theres kids down with iPads all day long and they download any game possible, my nephew is a prime example
because there are so many extremely naive young kids with I pads nowadays that they just download anything that looks even slightly appealing, and the sheer amount of these in china raise it out of the roof, with coc it does not have this way of advertising where the concept is simple so these kids aren't immediately stimulated so they don't download, its actually scummy because the quality of these games like coc are actually good and took hard work

One thing of note is that the games in the ads used to literally not be in the games. And then some companies DID get in legal trouble, and going forward all these companies started implementing these minigames you see in the ads because it’s the bare minimum that’s required of them.
I used to see 10 different versions of that same mini game that shows up in these fake ads. It's basically a content farm but with fake games.
And now we get the gun.

I don't feel like the video explained the problem. Like we all know that as long as you get lot's of people to download there will be some whales.
But the quality of the game also plays a huge roll in the math. And that's why companies still have to invest in game crafting instead of just advertise a random piece of software all over the world. If that makes money, anyone could do that.
So the actual problem is that the amount of money they spent to advertise the game all over the internet not spending a single penny on polishing the game, how could the minimized percentage of whales they get cover their advertising expenses.

Pretty critical point that the video creator got wrong: “disingenuous advertising” IS illegal, because legally it is the same thing as false advertising. The problem is in enforcement, I.e. proving intent to mislead. But it is illegal in principle even if it’s technically not “false” in some twisted disingenuous sense.

It‘s because the entire video is explaining why the ads work, meaning why and how they make money, meaning the monetization. Explaining how that manipulation works in other more popular games to make it more understandable didn‘t really seem out of place to me.

The main thing im confused about is how the whales even end up downloading the game in the first place with this strat. He said that they dont make the games like the ads because its hard to get people to buy stuff from it, thus why would someone willing to spend loads of money on a addicting game download a game that "In theory" isnt worth spending loads of money on.
there was this game called Crusaders Of Light it was a mobile game as well as a steam game and could even be booted in vms , People in the community would spend well over $250,000 on a single chacter with a million dollar payout for world first tournament's / clear's .. There was then a massive issue where people would refund the money or just write it off on taxes and then eventually shut down and everyone lost acces to there charcters because the game shut it down .. NETEASE im still waiting for my refund.... or atleast bring the servers back up :( gems would go for like 20$ a piece and you would constantly get new gear as well as reforges for materials and other things alongside that factor. Also depending on certain contracts each download bring's you in revenur as its collection of information and then they will sell the hwid or list of contact's or whatever else they bind in the agreements /tos.
This shit is especially crazy when the game is actually good and well made in many aspects. EG. Genshin Impact.. I think even the average player spends money in this game, and I'd say it's even typical to spend a LOT

I guess it’s a bit anti-capitalist but I don’t see why there aren’t more companies that are willing to make a good amount of money without sacrificing enjoyment of the game to make more, clash of clans vs candy crush is not like adidas vs nike where they both need to maximise profits to reinvest in advertising, athletes and teams, etc. because they are in direct competition and otherwise they will lose market share to the other, multiple games can make money without being at risk of being outcompeted. I feel like video games don’t need to be max greed all the time.
