I must say though that I love how James has adjusted to accommodate the things that Tina loves and vice versa... This is the definition of support and love #GangGang

You guys should do couples counseling. You're Relatable!! Black couples NEED this energy, especially in this day and time.

New subscriber here🎉🎉I’m so glad I just found ya’ll channel, I’m newly married and my husband’s mom is too much, I don’t know what else to do except pray, and what worse is that my husband doesn’t see how she is too much, I hope she doesn’t ruin the honeymoon phase of our marriage ❤

Wow... this is definitely very insightful. Family is important but the line has to be drawn because people's opinions will ruin a relationship. The union is between the man and the woman and they are the foundation so we just have to prioritize them

Fire topic. I'm so glad that you guys brought this one up. I love my husband...and I don't regret marrying him..but I should have reconsidered ever meeting his family. Period. When I realized that I would never measure up to my husband's "ex", I should have given them more time to get her out of thier system. Many many years. Again, this was a great topic. I love how you both LOVE each other.

This is such a great listen! My wife and I got married a month ago and we had a conversation about this recently. I am not fond of her mother and in the foreseeable future I don't plan for her to be in my presence...on the wedding day she rubbed me all kinds of wrong... let's just keep that short! But for me, the blessing is that I did not have to give that ultimatum comment (it's me or her) to my wife because she told me she respects my statements and feels the same way. We plan to have kids soon, I told her she can take the child there without me and she is fine with that...well she really said she may not go there either because of the overall disappointment she brings. Nevertheless, I agree with dating in families that you don't gel with if your partner lays down the law and supports you and does not let their family disrespect you.

Definitely can't let family disrespect your spouse! It would be good if you and your mother in law can clear the air and figure out how to co-exist someday. Otherwise it's always going to be awkward!

Stumbled upon your content after the “Ready To Love” debacle about 50/50 marriages. I’m enjoying your realness.

Loved this one too!! You guys have been super consistent in bringing us great/relevant content!! I am a firm believer that the best way to ruin any great “ship” is by letting people come live with you 😬 so I try to avoid it at all costs. I also believe that you have to be extremely selective in who you share your personal business with because just as you guys said, the people who love you get too emotionally involved (except for me 😆😜).
I love the foundation you guys have built for yourselves and I also love everything that you all have been putting out here in an effort to help others build and maintain their own solid foundations!! Until the next one - LPG 4 LIFE 🖤❤️🖤

And I agree. Limit who you put in your business especially if you know they won’t be objective

God I can so agree with you! I just went through some painful event on Christmas with my husband and sister in law that came for 22 days that almost broke us as a couple. Plus Covid! Yeah!

Great episode! Super important to discuss your position before you are forced to make decisions on the fly when it comes to family living with you. A united front and solid foundation is KEY!! James has to let that hurt go with Grandma tho!

The Fox 5 comment is hilarious - oh good ol' Atlanta news :: BTW - this, as all of your episodes are, is so factual it's crazy!! Please keep this podcast going because it's great to see both perspectives of these topics that are literally relevant to every couple. Even when y'all agree, you both bring a different point of view that sometimes gets missed or misconstrued as a disagreement when communication lacks in relationships, so it's nice to be able to recognize the similarities in other couples. You guys have literally become my friends in my head lol
