I think we're missing one of the most important abilities, granted by one of her holy-type classes. Her immunity/resistance to holy magic. It means her undead nature only leaves her weak to fire instead of both fire and holy attacks.
Shalltear has optimum PvP build as you stated at the very beginning of the video. So basically, Shalltear's race and job classes were not taken for any roleplay. They were specially taken for building her for battle. It's entirely possible for to put "just enough" levels into a class to acquire a crucial skill, talent or a spell that is vital for the build. After that, no more levels would be put into the class. On the surface, just looking at the names and list of those classes would make no sense. You must map the skills to the class, and then list the skills in order to understand her build better. Not to mention that she has several PvE utility spells and skills as well, like "Charm Species" and "Mass Hold Species" - These are Hunter / Beastmaster job class spells, which Aura specializes into. Further ahead, we see her using stealthy movement and these spells, that indicates she has levels into similar classes as well. Also, using time based spells, require specialization into Chronomancy. But it's unlikely that she has access to higher tier spells like Ainz. Instead she has just enough to buy her time to setup combos and eliminate "channel-time" or "windup time" of her powerful skills or attacks, as a cheap workaround similar to Ainz's Pay2Win items.
I don't think Ainz under normal circumstances NEEDED the cash shop items to win, but he didn't want to show his full hand if someone was watching. So he went with a strategy that would definitely work but required way more shit (honestly after using up her defensive abilities if she didnt have that item pero gave her, he would have won long before the cash items got involved)
One could argue that Charm Species and Mass Hold Species are racial abilities gained from her Vampire levels, as Vampires in RPGs often have Domination and Paralyzation abilities.
@StyliisedGaming not all skills, but ya like 99% I remember there was 1 in the web novel. ((been forever since I read it)) that broke the normal 15 level cap.
Fun fact: There are actually stronger magic in DnD than simply 9 level spells but they are simply not useable anymore. 10th level spells have been seen before in DnD lore and possibly even higher levels could be plausible if not for the limitations of magic that has been put on it. There even was a spell that made you able take over a god's body for a limited time (Why the powers got limited to begin with after the wizard nearly destroyed everything by accident when he took over the body of the god that was controlling magic)
You can still cast them, but they now require an obsene amount of material components. As well an excrutiatingly long cast time. For example there's a 10th level spell that allows you to create a flying fortress. However, it is rarely ever used due to the fact that it requieres 6 high level spell casters to cast. As well as at least having one of them sacrifice themselves willingly for the spell to activate.
@@manuelcamara6400 That is right! Sorry forgot about that! Makes sense it isn't that used. Finding one person capable of casting 9 level spells is tough enough but finding 6 and even having to sacrifice one of them in order to use one spell is a REALLY high price. The so-called 'super magic' can be used if you cast it alongside multiple spellcasters. Though, the main wizard casting it dies upon the spells success, or so I've heard.
@@borisrebic yeah that's fair considering the only 12th level spell took control of the godess of magic and even 10th level spells can do things such as basically blacklisting things within a city(like making it impossible to fly or preventing dragons from attacking or even just entering a city even when polymorphed) and creating volcanoes/creating floating mountains
To appreciate just how powerful Einherjar is and why it's seen as Shalltear's trump card, you need to realize that this one single spell completely swung the dynamic of Ainz's fight against Shalltear into an incredibly disadvantageous one for Ainz. Have you ever thought why Ainz waited so long before using The Goal Of All Life Is Death in the battle against Shalltear? You'd think the logical choice would have been to use it first thing into the battle to make her waste the resurrection item, then just use his mostly intact mana reserves to kill her again. Instead, Ainz essentially fought Shalltear twice, the second time on an empty mana pool. Einherjar is literally the *only* reason this happened. Because it's a construct, Ainz's main set of spells would not work on it, just like it didn't on Shalltear herself. He absolutely had to catch both Shalltear *and* Einherjar in that instant death effect, or get double-teamed and die. This ability is so fucking insanely powerful that Ainz decided that fighting on an empty mana pool *as a pure caster* and losing a bunch of irreplaceable cash shop items was worth it just to avoid dealing with it.
Yep, Ainz was waiting the whole time for Shalltear to use Einherjar, but what makes this strange is that in the anime narration, he wonders how he's going to deal with both Shalltear and Einherjar which somewhat undermines your completely legitimate point. It's true though, rather than opening with Skill: The Goal of All Life is Death, he very specifically waits to take out Einherjar and rightly so; Ainz would be no match for Shalltear if he didn't do that.

This is one of my theories regarding the Runesmith class. In Vol 3 Shalltear was using Magic Runes wean fighting the thieves. "Shalltear stuck her index finger into the mass of blood floating above her and drew out a strand of blood, which turned into a character before her. It looked like a Sanskrit character or a similar symbol, and it was called a Magic Rune. Shalltear possessed a class called Blood Drinker, and this was one of its skills: Blood Pool. This orb of enchanted blood could store the blood of victims for various purposes. It could also drain mana from the blood, so one could use skills that augmented spells without consuming extra MP." Runecraft infuses mana in the engraving to produce a magic weapon. If someone with the Blood Drinker class and some other smiting class engraves the blood rune into a weapon would it turn magical?
Destroy Magic sounds awfully familiar for me in 5th edition (with most mentioned things here being from older editions primarily). Reminds me heavily of "anti magic field", a spell that creates a temporary void of magic surrounding the caster, that only allows relics (more or less God tier weapons/items) to be used in the inside. Apart from that, Dispel Magic in 5th edition works so that it can remove any spell or magical effect that does not specifically state otherwise. If you attempt to remove an effect of a higher level than your cast Dispel Magic, you have to make a Spell Casting Ability check to see whether or not you are capable of removing the more powerful magic. It should be noted though, that the three specific "force field" spells in 5th edition (Wall of Force, Forcecage and Prismatic Wall) cannot be dispelled by Dispel Magic. And Anti Magic Field can't be dispelled either, obviously. While we're at it, slight "correction" about the Tiers of magic shown in the Video (if we compare them to DnD 5th edition): Time Stop is actually a 9th level spell in DnD, with Haste (adrenaline boost; a weaker version of Time Accelerant) being a 3rd level spell. Wall of Stone is a 4th level spell and Harm is a 6th level spell. Similarly, Vermillion Nova reminds me a lot of Immolation, a 5th level spell that literally sets your target on fire until they either remove it with magic, or burn to ash (think Amaterasu from Naruto). That being said, amazing video and I'm really looking forward to part 3. Keep it up, man, this series really has something going!
Just do add: 10º and 11º level spells existed in DnD, tough long ago they were banned by the goddes of magic cause they were too powerfull after the first and only level 12 spell was cast by the most powerfull wizard ever, wich turned him into a god for a short period of time. 10º level spells can still be used if you manage to put together several max level wizards willing to pay their lifes and a ton of gold for it's cost and cast it for severaql days. (and yes, I tried to cast a level 10 spell, it failed, I died)
@@yukisetsuna1325 Yes, it's part of the very own lore of the game, but you normally can't use it, unlike you can use 9th level spells normally. In the very far past it was possible to cast level 10 spells, now you need a extremelly hard, deadly and expensive ritual to cast a spell above 9th level
Ainz is a premium player, you that guy who spent waaayyyyy too much real life money on the game. While I dislike these types of players irl, I love ainz’s character.
I think he's the type of hoarding elixir when playing an rpg though might need it in another fight then end the game with 99 of them pretty similar to me lol
@@KRP71390 Ainz mentioned using a very expensive cash shop item back in Volume 1 to increase the number of rings he could wear. _He wore nine rings on his ten fingers, and only his left ring finger was bare._ _In YGGDRASIL, most of the time one could only wear two rings, one on each hand. However, Momonga had used permanent cash items (which were very expensive) to let him wear a full ten rings, one on each finger, and use all their powers at once._ -The Undead King, Chapter 2: Floor Guardians
I have a request for a video if you ever see this, I hear a lot about demiurge’s messed up activities he does in his spare time, I wanted to know everything he did, what they all meant and why.
@@anxiousclan176 Demiurge manages "happy farm", skinning and healing people there over and over for scrolls out of their skin, meanwhile doing "breeding experiments" trying to achieve a higher quality skin. And as part of his character he enjoys suffering, both physical and psychological, so he enjoys himself there quite much. He probably doing other experiments as well, that wasn't really specified.
Well I can definitely say that Holy Lance comes from the Valkyrie class and because the Valkyrie in mythology were not inherently good its probably why Shaltear can use it. Also fun fact the Valkyrie class in most games tends to be familiar to the paladin class but the Valkyrie class tends to be able to use many forms of magic outside of holy and their main trademark is using powerful spears.
In DnD 3.5, there is a class of spells that is technically categorized as 10th level: Epic spells. To take epic spells, the caster must have 21 levels in the caster class of choice, an adequate allotment of skill points into spellcraft, and other spell specific prerequisites. The special thing about epic spells is that they must be taken as a feat, and can't be learned as regular spells through gaining levels in the caster class. Examples of epic spells include Hellball, which is a highly destructive epic fireball dealing massive amounts of varying damage types, epic mage armor, which gives the caster greatly increased AC, and Epic Mummy Dust, which allows the caster to summon a greater undead than the tiered magic create undead spells.
Actually Overlord doesn’t add extra tears of magic to the DND system. The magic within the DND universe was altered so no one can go beyond 9th tier spells.
Good video, but one correction, DnD Does have tenth and super tier spells, at least in 3.5e. In the epic level handbook they introduce Epic level spells, they are used with level 10 or above slots that you can pick up as you level beyond 20th level. In the Neverwinter Nights games, you could get a selection of epic level spells as 1 per day abilities.
actually, 10th tier is also a dnd thing and is seen also one of the most op forms of magic in netheril before it got wiped out, it's really interesting how much dnd overlord puts in the show
In D&D lore there is higher then 9th level spells. They go up to 12th but the God of Magic after being reborn blocked mortal means of casting above 9th due to mortal assuming their form temporary with a 12th level spell they created. Which cause the magical threads of the world to rip apart and cause the god to die. This lead to the massive amount of magic items and users to no longer be effective. Once the god was reborn she made it where mortals cant cast such spells again and made magic allot harder to use.
I think if I where to make a character in this world it would be a vampire somoner so like the main character only as a vampire . Being that it seems like vampires have a natural healing rate there's less reason to have healing spells but thay would be very useful in a bind
Fun fact, 10th and 11th (super) level magic does actually exist in the lore of D&D, but, long story short, a mage created the first and only 12th level spell to become a god, and chose to become the god of magic, which fucked everything up, so the goddess of magic (the second, as the first was killed by the spell) ruled that mortals shouldn't have access to 10th or 11th level magic anymore, and thus, the highest level spell a PC can use is 9th level. (Though, as DM, you can make a large group of mages come together to cast a spell equivalent to 10th level, or have demigods use them)
D&d does have 10+ tiers but are unplayable. There are exceptions to this for example a lot of high tier mages casting and giving themselves to the ritual. But there's lore with an ancient civilization and god that make it to what it is today.
Ability to summon your copy to fight with you, that's when I usually lose all hope. As someone who played Dark Souls and Nioh I really hate when boss does this or when you have to face 2 or more bosses at the same time.
I have a suggestion for your Overlord Videos „character explained“, what about doing one about Zesshi Zetsumei, we only saw her once and her appearance was very suspecious, she looked like she was very very strong. What about a video about her?
Tenth level spells actually DO exist. Only a few have ever been made official, and they were excluded from 5e. However, they did exist. Examples include a spell that lifts of, flips over, and levitates a mountain, and allows you to fly it around at high speeds permanently. Another was a very wide aura that forced a save against instant death every round. They were categorized under 'epic magic', and often included an XP cost or a price in actual levels. Epic magic still exists, and includes any spell that accomplishes more than is possible with a 9th level spell slot at the cost of causing permanent power loss or injury to the caster (for example, in 5e, many of the stronger uses of the Wish spell fall under Epic Magic.) Since 'Super-tier' magic was referenced as having an XP cost in the anime, it's a good bet that it simply references Epic Magic under a different name.
what if the anime makes Ainz more overpowered. let's say somehow they make him obtain the powers with in the world items, for him self, How would That be?? would it be cool or ??/
You say at the end "She used her skills well". No she did not, she has an op build for 1v1 especially against Ainz but she didnt have the knowledge of using it effectively since she was no longer a bot. Its like giving a noob a max lvl character. They will not know how to use it
Hey, just a comment on her aim bot. Odin, the Alfather god of magic and knowledge and Death in Norse mythology. Had a spear called Gunir it was said to never miss it's mark. Traveling through time and even other realms to each it's target. That could be the inspiration for her Holy lance.
Fun fact DnD in the lore has above lvl 9 spells but to know about them you would need to read a lot of dnd lore for one example that I know on the top of my head is Karsus Avatar if I am not mistaken that is how it is supposed to be written long story short 12 Lvl spell it allows you to became a god for a short while it was used by Karsus to become Mystra (Goddes of Magic) when he used it Mystra sensed it killed herself to minimize the damage that spell would do to that world. Karsus released his mistake and because whole weave was under his control but since he was Mystra once Mystra killed herself I'm not sure if he died as well. There was a period with no magic most of the flying cities that existed at that time basically fell from the sky there was to much destruction when the new goddes of magic was born she forbid all magic above 9th level there is an youtuber who does this matter justice much better than what I said right now his channel name is MrRhexx (ruclips.net/user/MrRhexx) and has a lot of DnD lore videos But I enjoy your videos pretty much. Keep up with the good work. Oh yea if you celebrate Easter, Happy Easter to you and your family and good health to you.

Is this a pc game or tabletop or what ? Sorry no clue
@@IllidanSturmgrimmDeusVult Table top.
wait, does 10th tier and above exist in 5e?
@@yukisetsuna1325 Yes, it's part of the very own lore of the game, but you normally can't use it, unlike you can use 9th level spells normally.
In the very far past it was possible to cast level 10 spells, now you need a extremelly hard, deadly and expensive ritual to cast a spell above 9th level
Ainz is a premium player, you that guy who spent waaayyyyy too much real life money on the game. While I dislike these types of players irl, I love ainz’s character.
And yet, he apparently never used a cash shop item until that fight with Shalltear. Rolling Gacha's, on the other hand....
@Richard Casterly not exactly because peroroncino is the first one to break it
I think he's the type of hoarding elixir when playing an rpg though might need it in another fight then end the game with 99 of them pretty similar to me lol
@@KRP71390 Ainz mentioned using a very expensive cash shop item back in Volume 1 to increase the number of rings he could wear.
_He wore nine rings on his ten fingers, and only his left ring finger was bare._
_In YGGDRASIL, most of the time one could only wear two rings, one on each hand. However, Momonga had used permanent cash items (which were very expensive) to let him wear a full ten rings, one on each finger, and use all their powers at once._
-The Undead King, Chapter 2: Floor Guardians
Can somebody explain why ainz not using his main eq istead just some clothe ?
Would be cool if you made a video series on character builds that could counter and even possibly defeat the Ainz-gang!
Time stop: *IT JUST WORKS*
Is that a Jojo reference?
Za Wroldo 😉
Thanks dude, great video
To me Valkyrie/Lance sounds like a possible upgrade to valkyrie that bring spear specialization
I have a request for a video if you ever see this, I hear a lot about demiurge’s messed up activities he does in his spare time, I wanted to know everything he did, what they all meant and why.
Anxious Clan idk try watching his deniurge video
I did, he talked about it but not as much due to that not being the official topic
Anxious Clan maybe that's all there is to it in the light novel
John Vu so we’ll never know it all?
@@anxiousclan176
Demiurge manages "happy farm", skinning and healing people there over and over for scrolls out of their skin, meanwhile doing "breeding experiments" trying to achieve a higher quality skin. And as part of his character he enjoys suffering, both physical and psychological, so he enjoys himself there quite much. He probably doing other experiments as well, that wasn't really specified.
5:21 Evileye cameo 😊
Well I can definitely say that Holy Lance comes from the Valkyrie class and because the Valkyrie in mythology were not inherently good its probably why Shaltear can use it.
Also fun fact the Valkyrie class in most games tends to be familiar to the paladin class but the Valkyrie class tends to be able to use many forms of magic outside of holy and their main trademark is using powerful spears.
Next episode should be about the battle maidens
Great video, keep it up
Actually Overlord doesn’t add extra tears of magic to the DND system. The magic within the DND universe was altered so no one can go beyond 9th tier spells.
The cleric thing could be a big thing in building up the Holy Kingdom characters. The masked preacher is certainly one way I can see this going.
That rewind time ability sounds more like a Dead Apostle than you standard Vampire.
Yugioh and fate in a video best reference ever
Za warudo!! I couldn't resist
Perfect timing just finished overlord
I mean like all the seasons
@@xriansspace9874 LN's aswell?

i haven't got all light novels but finished all the ones that i have, yes to the rest
Oh my waifu xd. and good news on the character.
You should do a vid on how strong the Pleiades are
Interesting!
Interesting note on d&d magic and tier magic, in early d&d there actually where 10 levels of magic
Honestly she reminds me more of a mob killer. With highly specialized 1v1 skills
Ainz is more of a mob killer/controller, you need wide area spells to really wipe mobs.
D&D actually has 10th level (also in some editions 11th and one 12th) spells. They are also called "Epic spells" or "High-level spells".
actually, 10th tier is also a dnd thing and is seen also one of the most op forms of magic in netheril before it got wiped out, it's really interesting how much dnd overlord puts in the show
About damn time
Did Shaltear actually fight the Platinum Dragon lady??
A bit, punch a hole in the armour. According to anime
Nice video can you do Fate Zero's Lancelot or Cocuytuss
Re zero background music noted
Fun fact, 10th and 11th (super) level magic does actually exist in the lore of D&D, but, long story short, a mage created the first and only 12th level spell to become a god, and chose to become the god of magic, which fucked everything up, so the goddess of magic (the second, as the first was killed by the spell) ruled that mortals shouldn't have access to 10th or 11th level magic anymore, and thus, the highest level spell a PC can use is 9th level. (Though, as DM, you can make a large group of mages come together to cast a spell equivalent to 10th level, or have demigods use them)
Do a video on the Extra Seat of the Black Scripture
Do some shout out intro for your vidz sam!
You really should make a second channel or twitchs streams playing league of Legends or others games
D&d does have 10+ tiers but are unplayable. There are exceptions to this for example a lot of high tier mages casting and giving themselves to the ritual. But there's lore with an ancient civilization and god that make it to what it is today.
THE TIME HAS COME
Great Video, though D&D does have 10th tier, though players can't cast it.
Ability to summon your copy to fight with you, that's when I usually lose all hope. As someone who played Dark Souls and Nioh I really hate when boss does this or when you have to face 2 or more bosses at the same time.
that is very common in my guild
There are lvl 10 spells in d&d 3.5 they are in the epic level handbook
I have a suggestion for your Overlord Videos „character explained“, what about doing one about Zesshi Zetsumei, we only saw her once and her appearance was very suspecious, she looked like she was very very strong. What about a video about her?
There is almost no info about her in books. She's yet to make her debut.
IMPLOSION!!!
What was the ability she used to dispel/kill(?) all of those floating skull monsters with a single clap during the lizardmen royal precession?
>Ishtar
>"Higher power"
I kek'd
Greater Teleportation = Goku's instant Transmission
what if the anime makes Ainz more overpowered. let's say somehow they make him obtain the powers with in the world items, for him self,
How would That be?? would it be cool or ??/
"You killed my god, now YOU are my gods..." -- Shalltear (probably)

You say at the end "She used her skills well". No she did not, she has an op build for 1v1 especially against Ainz but she didnt have the knowledge of using it effectively since she was no longer a bot. Its like giving a noob a max lvl character. They will not know how to use it
Exactly. Since now she's alive and doesn't just follow programming, she outright lacking experience on how to use her skills efficiently.
Hey, just a comment on her aim bot. Odin, the Alfather god of magic and knowledge and Death in Norse mythology. Had a spear called Gunir it was said to never miss it's mark. Traveling through time and even other realms to each it's target. That could be the inspiration for her Holy lance.
Can you do a video were you explained all the differents martial arts skills?
Fun fact DnD in the lore has above lvl 9 spells
but to know about them you would need to read a lot of dnd lore for one example that I know on the top of my head is Karsus Avatar
if I am not mistaken that is how it is supposed to be written long story short 12 Lvl spell it allows you to became a god for a short while it was used by Karsus to become Mystra (Goddes of Magic) when he used it Mystra sensed it killed herself to minimize the damage that spell would do to that world. Karsus released his mistake and because whole weave was under his control but since he was Mystra once Mystra killed herself I'm not sure if he died as well. There was a period with no magic most of the flying cities that existed at that time basically fell from the sky there was to much destruction when the new goddes of magic was born she forbid all magic above 9th level
there is an youtuber who does this matter justice much better than what I said right now
his channel name is MrRhexx (ruclips.net/user/MrRhexx) and has a lot of DnD lore videos
But I enjoy your videos pretty much. Keep up with the good work. Oh yea if you celebrate Easter, Happy Easter to you and your family and good health to you.
