Im a 63 yo drummer. I used to laugh at so many drummers that had huge sets ofdrums but they were for show. Peart used everyrhing he had and in my opinion is the best drummer ever. ( I grew up listening to Buddy Rich etc)
Neil did not feel like this was one of his best performances as he was dealing with having the flu at time. Not only one the best rock drummers of all time, he was also the main lyrist for the band. One of his nicknames was The Professor. I would suggest Xanadu from Exit Stage Left to see how amazing this whole band was. They had a 40 plus year career. Three master musicians from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 Cheers
Yeah if you like percussion, Neil is your man. He uses all sorts of percussion instruments, not just drums. Check out Xanadu live from 1981 Exit Stage Left tour. It’s the height of his acoustic kit before he started adding electronic pads. He’s got chimes, tubular bells, temple blocks, and a glockenspiel. Cheers!
lost count the number of times i've had the privilege to see this man, these 3 guys play live. In utter amazement what this guy does. Surreal to say the least
Rush played literally thousands of concerts in their 4+ decades and each featured a Neil drum solo in the middle of a 3 hour show. Neil had a touch of the flu during this performance and he didn't feel it was one of his better efforts that's how much of a perfectionist he was. The solos were just the icing on the cake to go along with deep and timely lyrics and otherworldly percussion he brought to Rush. The Goat imo there will never be another like him RIP.
The Master ✨. I love that even up until he got sick, he was always trying and learning new things with percussion despite already being The Professor. I loved how into it you were 😊👍. RIP Neil 🙏✨
RUSH LIVE……I was lucky enough to see one of the last shows before Neil died at SPAC N.Y. Simply the most talented three man band ever. Incredible performances every time. “In eight years I’ll be seventy one, I can play Charlie Watts drum parts when I’m seventy one, I can’t play Neil Peart’s drum parts when I’m seventy one” - Neil Peart at sixty three.
Wow, impressive....every tour since Neil joined the band. I was too young to start that early but was able to attend every tour from Grace under Pressure (at the age of 14), through their final tour (which I attended in two different cities). What an amazing percussionist he was.
It's because of Neil that the 'drum cam' exists today. On their DVDs you could choose just watch the drum cam ... everyone wanted to see just *hoooow* he was creating these really intricate rhythms and just how precise, dynamic and strong he was!
Many drummers looked up to Neil Peart. He was and is the drummer of drummers. And he wrote at least 90 percent of the songs that the group RUSH recorded and performed live in their concerts. Check out their live performance of a song they came out with years ago the song is called YYZ. From RUSH Live in RIO. the song is all instrumental. there's no words to it. RIP Professor.
A few of my favourite quotes about Neil: “Your favourite drummer’s favourite drummer.” “A drummer uses a metronome, a metronome uses Neil Peart.” “Neil Peart made the drums a part of the song rather than just a backbeat.” “He was a composer of drums.”
The Professor… Neil Peart on the drum kit. Bubba, Pratt. He just wanted you to know him as a average person. Steered clear of fame. All three men in Rush are my three favorite people. Great reaction, there are so many other solos and songs that you would enjoy. They went through different stages of sounds in 40 years. I love them all, because they were/are the soundtrack of my life. To my Rush family… Rush on eh!!!
It wasn’t JUST the speed. Starting at 3:33 of your video, note that he’s keeping one time signature with his hands and an entirely DIFFERENT time signature with his feet. Simultaneously. Yah. That was Peart.
He collected drums through his career, thus the huge drum kit. His idols were Buddy Rich and Gene Kruppa, which he plays tribute at the ending saluting the big band sound.
One of the top 3 rock drummers of all time. If you want more fantastic music try these Rush tunes: LaVilla Strangiato, Subdivisions, Tom Sawer, Xanadu exist stage left 1981, YYZ live in Rio and on and on… You have over 160 songs spanning 17 albums and 40 years of touring. Enjoy the ride!!!!
Great reaction!! Check out RUSH LIVE!! Gotta see em live!! Maybe start with “Freewill live Exit Stage Left”! There’s lots of greatness to hear! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
I own 168 pieces of drum equipment. I often play along with "reaction" videos. When watching the greatest drummer of all time I just sit and watch. I can't touch that man and never want to mess up his incredible drumming. See my page to see me drumming on my kit.
You really should check out the song by Rush, La Villa Strangiato (the STUDIO VERSION, PLEASE)! It's an instrumental. Also, check out the band UFO, the song Born to Lose, and Belladonna.
Check more from Rush, you'll be amazed... 2112 ,Xanadu from Exit Stage Left, Tom Sawyer, Freewill, Limelight, Natural Science... I promise it will blow your mind!
I appreciate you being respectful, and not commenting every 10 seconds with your opinion... Thank You. And yes, It is an exceptional performance, but not his best.
@@thatsnice99 Not annoying to me because wherever you leave a comment I will be there to make sure everyone knows you're a troll. Plus I am a drummer myself, I am well aware there are many other Neil Peart drum solo's. The Frankfurt drum solo gets asked for the most mainly due to it being the most melodic. Anyone who doesn't understand drumming dynamics will not appreciate some of his other solo's.
@@rimskykorsakov2892 most melodic. More like most disjointed. The melodic part comes mostly during the jazz section. It’s recommended the most because of pure ignorance, and poor taste. You are always welcome to respond to my comments. I’m here for you too.

At 6:58 on my reaction he slightly hits an off note but I only pointed it out as major respect because there should’ve been wayyy more but he was 99.9% perfect which is virtually impossible
Thank you for appreciating the genius of Neil Peart. Welcome to the family my friend.
Neil Peart.
Admired for his talent. Respected for his intellect. Loved for his humanity.
RIP Professor. ✌

I'm jealous that I discovered rush back in 78...watching reactions like this from the people that don't know this band is amazing

Neal is by far one of the greatest drummers of all time.

I can't even imagine keeping my arms going that long, much less both of my legs at the same time !! Awesome stuff !
Just think he used to do that in the middle of a three hour Rush show every night on tour!
With painful tendinitis, at 60 plus years of age.
Neil Peart September 12th, 1952 - January 7th, 2020 🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️
