I had a hard time getting to this one, I lost my mother-in-law to ovarian cancer in September. We never had a very close relationship until we brought her up to Iowa to figure out what was going on with her (we thought it was Alzheimer's) and she moved in with us. Everything moved so fast I regret that she did not get more time to spend with the boys, she really loved them but it's hard when you live so far apart. Cherish your MILs you all are so right because complicated or not they gave you your love.

The day I met my mother-in-law, my hsband and I traveled with my mother-in-law and father-in-law to my sister-in-law's new home. She was living with her boyfriend(which my mother-in-law was not happy about) so my sister-in-law was giving us a tour of their new home, and we got to the bedroom, and my mother-in-law said,"So this is where it happens!" Oh my goodness, so akward!,
I don't have a mother in law but I get along great with my boyfriend's family. I went to their house for the Shabbat day meal yesterday and we all bonded over Back To The Future trilogy by looking at their big Back To The Future book. They thought it was cool that I remembered just about everything from the trilogy. They also make sure to make me feel comfortable and make a lot of special food for me. Yesterday they gave out Strawberries, Blueberries, Fruit Salad, Veggie salad, spinach, Smiley face cookies, cinnamon rugelach and jelly cookies. (which they offered me to take all of the desserts because they wanted to get rid of their Chametz) (I am a vegetarian as well as a picky eater)
Loved the funny story not that I thought you would have gotten hysterically drunk but it certainly would have been a fine intro to your husbands family.
