"is this nigga fast" bro he is one of the fastest players ever. he was known for his insane speed, it was often sayed that he run faster with the ball as compared to the defenders marking them, made the greatest defenders of all time taste the dust(maldini, nesta, puyol, canovaro, etc)

Yeah Ronaldo himself even said in an interview that he felt faster running with a ball than without one. Probably because you feel more motivation to run if you have the ball with you, but what's crazy is that he actually looked faster with a ball than without one.

He was lean, and fast as an olympic athlete when he was a teenager until he suffered a career ending knee explosion when he was just 22. Before he turned 22 or had this injury, he was already crowned as the best player of the world twice. After his major career ending injury at 22, he didnt play for 3 years only to return directly to the 2002 world cup. The entire world was questioning his selection and criticizing the Brazilian coach since he did not at all play for 3 damn years, but he just comes back and helps Brazil win the World Cup by being the top scorer and the best player that tournament. He then moved to Real Madrid from his previous club where he got his injury, inter milan in 2002 and slowly started gaining weight due to being diagnosed by hypothyroidism but he couldnt take drugs to control it since it was among the doping list that banned by FIFA. He later broke his other knee too.

Those scenes where he was on the ground crying:
"Ronaldo felt his knee buckle and was forced to limp off the field.[40] A medical examination confirmed that the striker had ruptured a tendon in his knee and would require surgery.[40] During his first comeback on 12 April 2000, he played only six minutes during the first leg of the Coppa Italia final against Lazio before suffering a complete rupture of the knee-cap tendons.[41][42][43] As Ronaldo fell to the ground clutching his knee, Lazio players including Diego Simeone ran over to help him, and fans of both teams applauded him as he was stretchered off the field.[44] Ronaldo's physiotherapist Nilton Petrone stated, "his knee-cap actually exploded", and called it "the worst football injury" he's ever seen.[45]"
"After two operations and rehabilitation, Ronaldo came back for the 2002 World Cup, helping Brazil win their fifth World Cup title. Later in 2002, he won the FIFA World Player of the Year award for the third time, and transferred from Inter to Real Madrid.[32] Ronaldo was given his most recognizable nickname, Il Fenomeno, by the Italian press while playing there.[7][21] His Inter teammate Djorkaeff stated, "when we were training, we would practically stop to watch him. It was extraordinary."["
"On 13 February 2008, Ronaldo suffered a severe season-ending knee injury while jumping for a cross in Milan 1-1 draw with Livorno, and was stretchered off and taken to a hospital.[89] The club confirmed after the match that Ronaldo had ruptured the kneecap ligament in his left knee. It marked the third such occurrence of this injury, which he suffered twice to his right knee in 1999 and 2000.[90] Teammate Clarence Seedorf stated, "My heart stopped beating because it was like watching a repeat of the injury he suffered playing for Inter Milan against Lazio [in 2000]. His reaction was the same."[91] Silvio Berlusconi told Italy's RAI TV, "He fears for his career. I called him last evening and told him to believe in himself. He has enormous physical potential.""

And he did so without playing for MEGA TEAMS like Messi's Barça or Real's CR. Sure, Barça was a great team and so was Inter, but they did not had 14 world class players in their roster. FOR SURE, without injuries and Thyroid issues Ronaldo would have been BY FAR the best player in history. He had the speed and pace of CR and the on ball skill and Creativity of Messi and Ronaldinho. Watch his goal against Compostela when he played for Barcelona. He was world class. Scored well over a hundred goals before the age of 21. Had won the Balon D'or by the age of 20. 88 of his goals he went the round the keeper with the ball to score. Think he is the last player to score a hattrick for an away team at Old Trafford where Manchester United play. That was in 2003 for Real Madrid. He achieved so much and spent the best part of over two years out with ruptured knee ligaments from when he played at Inter Milan. He only played for Barcelona for a year and scored over 30 goals. An Englishman called Bobby Robson brought him to Europe from Brazil. Bobby Robson was the manager of PSV Eindhoven in Holland and then he took Ronaldo to Barcelona from there when he managed them. Hes the greatest number 9 I have ever seen. World class even after suffering the knee injuries that he suffered ❤️

Hi, my friend! Let me explain to you the difference between "Ronaldo (R9)" and "Ronaldinho (R7)".
When Ronaldo start playing, everybody in Brazil called him "Ronaldinho". It means "Little Ronaldo" in Portuguese.
When R7 (Ronaldinho gaúcho) made his debut, R9 was grown up already. Then we start to call him "Ronaldinho (little Ronaldo)".
As sometimes they played together for the Brazilian national team, we had to have different names to refer to these 2 players.
As the Italians called R9 "Fenômeno (Phenomenom)", And the younger one was from the South of Brasil (the southerners in Brazil are called "Gaúchos"), we decided to rename them after "Ronaldo fenômeno (R9)" and "Ronaldinho or Ronaldinho gaúcho (R7)". The R9 and R7 are European nicknames.
Just a little tip: Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) is not a Brazilian player. He's a goat! But R9 and R7 are BULLS!

Ronaldo 'Fenomeno' was one of the greatest strikers, and greatest overall footballer, ever in the game of football --- both he and Ronaldinho are actually my favorite footballers of all time. Just some background on Ronaldo...he won FIFA World Player of the Year back in 1996 when he was just 20 years old, making him the youngest player ever to win that award. The FIFA World Player of the Year is like the NBA MVP, except it is a worldwide award and given to a player regardless of which league on the planet the player plays in.
He also repeated and won the same award the next year (1997) at the age of 21; and he also won the award in 2002 after coming back from a devastating knee injury that pretty much kept him out of the game for 2 years. Had he not been injured, many believe he would have secured 1 or 2 other awards, or at the very least been in the top 3 in rankings worldwide during those years he was out with injury. That's how dominant he was when he was on the field healthy.
And again...NO, that was not Ronaldinho at the 4:24 minute mark...lol

Ronaldo plays on four of the best clubs in the world Barcelona, real madrid, AC Milan and Inter de Milan. He has the high scores in the Italian tournament when he was playing there, and the Italian tournament is the most defensive in the world and very difficult to score, for all the defense of the world Ronaldo was the best striker. Messi and ronaldo are very good players and fantastic too, but Ronaldo did what are they doing now when he was 20, in the team he plays he has the high score on the tournaments. For example everything that Messi has done or achieved has only been in Barcelona, never won a world cup, with his national team no world cup, or Copa America. Ronaldo has 3 world cups , confederations cup, South american cups, historical scorer of world cups, even being overweight, he ran and scored more than any other player, he was the first younger player at his 19 to won the bBalon de Oro 3 times. He was the idol of Messi, Ibrahimovic and Benzema and they confessed they tried to play like him. Check his international resume and titles to learn about him.

Everyone else already has explained why he was chubby, but he really was incredibly fast earlier in his career and after that he became a savvy James Harden type who could score at will regardless of his slower speed. When he retired, he was the all-time leading World Cup scorer, and he led Brazil to the 2002 championship AFTER his two devastating knee injuries. Absolute genius who probably would've been the GOAT without the injuries (still probably top 10-15 all-time with the injuries).

He basically played for the 4 most accomplished clubs in football history Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan. He changed football, he influenced a whole generation and revolutionized the striker role completely. There's so much more to explain about Ronaldo but that would take forever and words would fall short so to sum it up, he's a 🐐 if not THE 🐐
