I believe if Alice/ Beth didn't go through the memory wipe, I think she would've went back to Kate and Jacob. I think Safiyah was jealous of the love that Alice had for Ocean, she thought it won't be like this and that Alice would be obey her, but I think Ocean cared for Alice not just for a training partner, but something Safiyah thought was wrong.
So everything Alice did was never of her own will. She was only ever a puppet in a hat. Everyone she killed, the pain she inflicted was all Safiyah. Imagine the horror, the hate, the anger that must be flowing through her right now.
Safiyah was infuriated not only that Alice and Ocean tried to leave her island with a Desert Rose, but was jealous as she was in love with Alice. So she not wiped Alice's and Ocean's memories, but she turned Alice into the monster she is today. I can imagine how Alice is reacting to this right now.
Oh my God this is terrible they could've done a lot more with Ocean and Safiya's characters in the show like safiya is an international crime lord/pirate with martial arts training and Ocean was her half brother /ex soldier turned assisan and the island was her base of operations where she made her drugs. And Alice used to work with and dated safiya then cheated on her with Ocean and was punished by getting druged with fear toxin that caused her to kill Ocean which drove her even more crazy . Instead of just saying safiya brainwashed Alice into being an even more crazy person and doing those horrible things to make her less responsible for crimes.
