- James talks us through every single modification on his raucous 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Sporting our first ever built engine and first set of 640cc injectors, many BOFI Racing products were developed on this glorious machine. Eating excessive amounts of launch control and flat shift for breakfast, there is nothing that our EFR 6258 powered MX-5 cannot take.

this was brilliant ! and loved the comedy sprinkled in, my favourite part was the bird poop ruining the last shot haha. realistically though it was the door window mech / weight jokes

Check our video where we forge Will's engine in a day. You can do just rods and bearings but piston rings and a gasket set are a good idea too.
We love the roll cage it looks epic - and the no fucks given look to car really goes down well :)

i guess u lads know your mx5,s i have a 1.8 in my kit car, on the block it has 2 bungs 1 for oil feed and 1 for oil return, can i just bolt on a turbo if i can find one? 2nd will a 6 speed box fit where there is a 5 speed box? 3rd i belive my lsd diff is a 1.6 would it be better to find and fit a 1.8 diff? my car flys up the road but i cant get to 60mph in 2nd, it gets close full rev in 2nd and about 55 57 mph.

It’s a custom 3” system, EFR turbocharger. That’s more that makes it sound like that.

where are the bolting point for the doorbar ? can you show in a other videos

Me221? I thought i read an old blog on it having the me221 installed
It did have, moved to MS3 for 36-2 trigger and a number of other reasons software wise about 18 months back

They've got the Samen parts number from 89 - 05 🤷♂️
They were referred to as hubs in the video, but uprights seems more common when googling it. That same Google search came up with this result that also suggests there is a track width difference: racetrackdriving.com/tech/miata/suspension-interchange/.

It's a Hague SM1, but also accidentally left the Gopro stabilisation on too. The SM1 is rock steady on its own though

Why was material removed from the pistons and not the crank for balancing?
The less a piston weighs makes balancing not as important
benson420710 well not really, if he was match weighing them and then balancing the crank that would make sense but using the pistons as the balancing location is just real bad practice
The crank has also been balanced with the flywheel and pressure plate as a rotating assembly. This is standard practice for all our inline 4 builds. In this engines case, the big and little ends, bolts, pistons, ring packs, pins and locks were also balanced to 0.1g. That way the rotating assembly is as balanced as possible while remaining on a reasonable budget. The result is a lovely smooth engine that takes abuse continuously without hiccup - 2 or so years in and I still very rarely let it warm up before pinning the throttle, it loves it. 😁

Polishing inlets is an old technic. Inlets with the surface like a golf ball is much better

Another way to maybe save weight is to go with a soft top and drill giant holes in the bumper to save E V E N M O R E W e I G h T XD

What power does it make ??
Last time it was dyno'd it made 275whp but it had ignition problems. That has since been fixed but it has not been back on the dyno yet. We hope to go back soon!

Love the build and all but why is a 50sh trim a huge turbo for Miata guys I run an holset hx35 a Disel turbo on my 323 bp05 engine and almost all the fwd bp run these now that’s a true big turbo And 640cc my set up has 1200cc full E85 Walboro 450 I juts still don’t get why the miatas juts cut it all short compare to Theyr earlier bother and sis 323 escort Gt protege and so forth
