I was raised on my maternal Grandparents dairy-farm in H.K. during the
1950s & 1960's: back then, there was the first small airport built by the
BRITISH administration, near Wong Dai Sin and NGAU chi wan areas.
From our farm on the foot of Kowloon Peak, my brothers and I LOVE to
watch the planes landing . I remember: seeing Pan Am planes landing
on the waters of Kowloon Bay, with the propellers , etc. What excitement
then, in my Childhood!
The second Kai Tak Airport oin Hung Hum area is history now.
The runway was a bit too short. Nowadays , i heard it is used for
CRUISE SHIPS ' docking!
I am so proud to see this video showing Hong Kong' s third Airport
on Lantau Island! Back in the 1960's, the island was sparsely inhabited: besides the Buddhist monastery, a few Chinese fishing
villages, I remember visiting the secluded TRAPPIST MONASTERY
on Lantau. We had to take the HK Yaumati Ferry there.
NOW, with the new millennial, this wonderful Kai Tak International
AIRPORT thrives with travel passengers and CARGO PLANES .

@@AvgeekOfSG. they‘re on a mountain several kilometers away from the airport… did you really think towers are like 400m high and placed somewhere far away from the airport?
ATC towers aren’t skyscrapers…
