Definitely one of my top 3 channels for badminton ! I'll keep sharing your videos to my friends ! One thing in particular I'd like to learn more about is if there are any specific doubles plays that pairs can try to execute during games. That is, any plays that force/encourage the opponent to respond in specific ways, and therefore increasing the likelihood of the attacking pair winning the point. I'm thinking along the lines of, "Pair A attacks in X way, Pair V likely to respond in Y way, so Pair A usually finishes the point in Z way". Hope to see more content in future!
Thanks for the lovely comments Hai, means a lot to us. Yes that’s on the top of our list of videos to make. We will be doing attacking in doubles. Just need to get 4 of us together haha
@@JacobsBadminton looking for four? Have you ever considered doing a special Collab video with Badminton Insight, Greg and Jenny? Not sure what parts of the UK you're both from though.
@@JacobsBadminton I am not going to lie but it surely will. The small details captured by you are amazing. I consider myself somewhere between intermediate and advance. This helped me grow a bit closer to being an advanced doubles player. Thank you again to you and Daryll. Love from India
Thanks so much Swanjaya. We hope to bring you more doubles soon, as we know a lot of people enjoy playing doubles. Doubles wise we'll look at offence next yes.
@@JacobsBadminton I have trouble defending cross court smashes when I’m on the left side of the court. Should I be try to hit this with a forehand grip and drive them to the open gap to the left of the opponents court ?
Awesome video, explained in such a understandable way! Love to have more do's and don'ts regarding positioning/strategy in doubles play. Would love to see stuff like first 3 shots, service situations, rotation, anticipation, playing for the attack
MC glad your enjoying our videos and that we can help you improve your game. Thanks for the suggestions and hopefully we can tackle those and bring them to you shortly.
Great video. I really didn't understand that with cross player need to be more forward . And how you choose cross player if both of you are right handed
Glad it helped and you enjoyed it. Not sure what you mean but we are talking about the cross player in relation to where the shuttle is hit to. What hand you are shouldn’t really matter in this scenario.
@@JacobsBadminton WOW all I have to say is that our defense was much more solid but we do have to practice it a ton to make it second nature but otherwise amazing advise
Great video! Do any of these tips change for a left and right handed doubles combo? As a left handed player I find when I'm on the left side of the court and my partner is on the right we have a massive weak spot between us.
Thanks for this vid! I just recently picked up badminton again, and positioning in doubles is still quite confusing to me. Can't wait to try these tips out the next session!
thanks for the video!! I have a question: I am at the front right, my partner is at the back (I do not know where) and he is doing a clear to the opponents left back (my side). From what I understand, my partner doing a clear from the back, we should now get into a defensive position and be side to side, because of this I have to move back. Where do I move? From what I have learned, I can move back to either side (middle of each court half) as my partner in the back, has to watch me and so match my rotation move. So I can move back on my side (right, which seems to make sense as its the shortest way for me, or even over to the left court side (in each case to the middle of the court half. I had a game today where I moved from my front right, back on the right (after my partner in the back did a clear) and he ended up being behind me and we lost the point, as the opponents put the bird to our left where no one was. My partner told me I should have moved back to our middle left side, because he was on the right back, doing that clear. I obviously didnt know where he was in the back. He said I should have looked at his clear when it came over my head, accessing where he did his shot from... I was not taught this in the past, plus badminton being such a fast game, to trying to access so fast where my partner stands behind me in looking at his clear and then making a decision where I can go back too seems off to me. Really would appreciate your help in this matter, as I want to become a better doubles player and pass on what I have learned to others. Thanks!
PJ I think you’ve got it slightly wrong. Simply put if your opponent clears (doesn’t matter then side they hit to) you drop back sides, to the opposite side to your partner. If he’s cleared from the right you go to the left. You should always know where your partner is because he’s always where the shuttle is. Hope that helps clear it up.
@@JacobsBadminton thanks for your reply. The opponent didn't clear, my partner behind my back did a clear, that's why I came back from the front to be in a defensive position
Not always, we did it like that to make feeding the routine easier. You will be over if your channeling your attack but we hope to bring you videos on this shortly.
Lol on stance , when standing wrong he is throwing all shuttle on r8 side but when standing correctly throwing all shuttle to left , want to see what happens when he gets shuttle on right side
I assume your not talking about my brother Daryl. Others are Richard at the end, ex national champion and the Haiti brothers who were and are England Juniors.
@@JacobsBadminton hi Steve! I thought it was Richard 😁 wasn’t sure from the back. I remember him from when he used to be a barman at Wimbledon in the early 90s. He’s still looking sharp! Good singles player but don't think he ever achieved National Champion.
