Don,I just turned 85 and bought an a9ll as a present. Over the years on & off I was Nikon shooter and the mirrorlless cameras have much deeper menues. Your presentation has been a great help.Looking foward to part 2 Thank you for your time.
Hi William, So happy that you've gotten something out of my videos. They are a lot of work but I enjoy sharing a bit of my knowledge. Good on you to get into something new no matter one's age. Feel free to get in touch if you have questions. Thanks for watching.
Hi Sandra, thanks for watching and glad I could help. Yes, part 2 (and all others are done and online). Here is the link to part 2: ruclips.net/video/ZqdSPqQQ6T4/видео.html
Custom recall costums 1-3 settings are settings you can use with one button on the camera, it is NOT the 1-3 on the dial, it is even better because you can make for instance a fuck up button (i did make a program Aperture priority, lock-on zone middle, f1, 1/2500s, hi speed electronic shutter, so what ever i have programmed if i press and hold this button while shooting somethibg else at one shot, f8 or somethibg is will do what i did on those modes. It is fantastic!!
Hi Sandra, I can say that the specs on the a1 are incredible! I think the extra MP would be great for the ability to crop, so long as the images aren't noisy as sometimes happens when more MP get jammed onto a sensor that has the same surface area. I'll wait to see some tests on that.
these are superb. just got the a9ii with 200-600mm lens. do you know if Lightroom classic will accept Sony RAW files? thanks, loved your 200-600mm buttons utube too. thanks again.
Hi Steve, Thanks for watching. My research tells me that Lightroom classic has RAW support starting with version 8.4.1 Though I shoot simple JPEGS myself.
I have been following your setup for the A9ii and on page 4 reg custom shoot set I have set up but it want keep the info? When I move the dial to 1, 2 or 3 it doesn't show my settings? Am I doing something wrong? thanks
Hi David, Thanks for watching. The steps are: set up your camera for what you wish to be able to recall easily, then in the menu settings go to chapter 1, then go to page 3 (of 14) and toggle down to the "MR Memory" choice (5th one down) select that and on the next page the mode dials 1, 2 and 3 are available. Choose the one you wish to have remember your choices and highlight it in red, then simply hit the center of the selector button to register those camera settings for quick recall.
Hey Josh. Thanks for watching. I like Tracking Expand Flexible Spot for static birds. This way you can lock onto a certain part of the bird (the eye) and the camera will follow it if you keep it in the frame. I plan to do a completely separate video on the Focus areas as there is lots to cover and learn there. Stay tuned.
Curious why with the a9ii you would want an iso range higher than 400-800. Why do people go to 6400 or higher. You can shoot fast eg 3200 shutter speed low iso and get sharper pics
Hi Peter, Yeah, I agree that I try to use the lowest ISO that I can. Sometimes the ambient light is just too low for the action I am shooting and I need a higher ISO, sometimes as high as 6400 or higher. Examples would be in the sweet light before the sun comes up or in the canopy of a shadowed rainforest.
@@peterdyer2706 Peter, I don't often use Auto ISO but when I do my range is set at 50-25600. 95% of the time I choose the lowest ISO I can get to give the shutter speed I need to stop whatever motion my subject is doing (or not doing). Say it's a fast flying duck. I know I want a shutter speed of at least 1/2000 sec. or faster. I'll choose whatever ISO gets me there with my lens wide open.
Hi Peter, Yes, ISO8000 is high and I try not to use such high ISO's, but sometimes when the light is low and something is happening I'd rather get a sharp but noisy shot rather than a completely blurry shot. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

I just went to your website and want to say thank you for your service, my husband is a Viet Nam Vet. Your work is beautiful.
Thank your husband for his service as well from me. Thanks for your nice comments.
Very helpful for a new Sony camera owner

I agree, the Sony cameras are VERY programmable and it is super useful that they are.
I was just going to say that. Good spotting
great video, very wel explained
Hi, thanks appreciate your comment.
What do you think of the new Sony coming out in March

Use the fn button to move from one 'chapter' to another
Hey Mark, Thanks for that useful tip! I appreciate it. So many ways the A9II impresses me still.
in page 5 under Focus area, what would I choose if I were to shoot static birds?

@@DonMammoserPhoto do you have the range on the a 9ii at 50-8000? I realize the camera will only use the iso it needs
