Live a mile away from Halton, sohear the band and see the fly past going g over, but great to see the ceremony itself as a Civvie and a local resident. Very impressive!!
My late father joined the RAF as a boy apprentice aged 13, in 1933, at RAF Halton. In the RAF for 17yrs then emigrated to New Zealand and another 17 yrs in the RNZAF.
I got into the RAF years ago, even got my start day for RAF Holton, went on lads holiday broke my wrist, start day pushed back, went to BBQ meet my future wife, chose to become an electrician instead and never actually made it to Holton 2005. Some fork in the road that one!
I was CI with 291 Squadron Air Training Corps and spent a enjoyable week in the Sergeants Mess at RAF Halton. Great bunch of cadets - often wonder what they went on to do.
TRUMP 2020 didn’t get a very good score only got chef and steward was thinking more comms as I did 8 years in the army reserve. However now that I’m out Id probably have to go through the whole recruitment process again.
TRUMP 2020 I left in February. Best not to put it on social media. I applied recently as a rejoiner but they rejected it because I didn’t get a good enough AST score.
It's 39 years since I first set foot at RAF Halton and 32 years since I was last there. In 1990 we used the same parade ground to practice for the 50th anniversary parade of the Battle of Britain parade that we did in London in front of Buckingham palace. I hope your son is still loving the RAF. It is amazing what opportunities come along both in service and afterwards.
My parade was back in March 1999 & the weather was so bad we had to do ours in the main hangar. No parade square for us. Nevermind, great memories & a great day 👍🏻
I graduated the United States Air Force basic training a couple months ago, it’s crazy seeing the RAF training.. are you allowed to have your phones during the training??
They are not allowed for initial basic training. However you are granted access at certain times. It's to take u away from the comfort of home life and let u adapt to being away from luxuries for a long period of time I think
Passed out on that parade ground in 1982 134 entry apprentices. Still in touch with the lads after 40 plus years. Greatest 3 years
Honoured to have experienced this day back in 2017. Never once looked back. Per Ardua Ad Adstra.
Your son will have a great life here.

When I finished my square bashing in 1955 at Padgate it was called a Passing Out Parade not a graduation and there no cameras.
Give Halton back to the Apprentice training school - not these other trades. Did hours on this parade square during my 3yrs.
Did you know a ghost lived in 1 wing mess, upstairs?
What a shower!! (1957 graduate).
What’s the strap hanging from the back of the Dress Hats?
