- I really like the look of the carbon fiber, and the price over the factory parts is significant, but I am a little disappointed in some of the cover caps, still looks really good.
You want to use 3M double sided sticky tape. But You want the extreme stick, the heavy duty tape, you also want to use a adhesive promoter on both parts. Then use blue lock tight on your self tapping screws. I also use stainless steel on everything.
Very informative video. Great job! Thanks
Joe
Awesome man, that's looking real good.
Looks awesome. I would like someone to do a carbon fiber wrap on the frunk like the GT3 Porsche. That would set it off in my opinion. I also wish they had a gold stingray and gold Corvette emblem.
RPM Corvette's offers a carbon fiber hood but that is a little much for me.
Looking good !
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it, please subscribe to the channel if you haven't already
@@70elco28 I was thinking about doing one mod on the exterior of mine. When I finally get been 15 months since ordering. Love the way it's coming together. Keep it up
7:28 quick question. So where are you putting the jack stand when the floor jack is already taking up that position? Are you jacking another point to raise it and using the specified point for the stand? Thanks in advanced
No when I set the Jack stand i place it to the side of the jacking point, If I was using a automotive lift I would place it right on the Jack point
it's a lot more easy to use some floss to remove it stingray
That's a good idea never considered that
@@70elco28 Yeah that’s what most people use to debadge.
U should have went and bought some more 3m tape and put more in the spot it didnt stick instead of tapping the side skirt
Was to late, once the rest of it sticks there is no turning back
@@70elco28 i got ya. didn’t really think of that. how’s it all holding up?
@@tellinustr8up Pretty good until I opened the driver's door into my garage wall and the very corner of the one piece stuck in the drywall and it tried to pull it off when I closed the door. May have to replace the drivers door handle cover. Stay tuned the high wing video will post in a few days
@@70elco28 Sorry to hear that. looking forward to the next video
How's your carbon fiber stingray logo holding, since it's carbon fiber it's not flexible cuz the OEM has a curve
Well I did not notice a curve at all and the stingray is holding up great. Whatever curve there might be it is minimal and the 2 sided tape probably makes up the difference, no problems, I would highly recommend it, I love it
What brand is all of this? I used AGM for the “side blades” and mirror caps... the fitment on mine wasn’t great, and their 3M didn’t stick well at all. I used Paragon for the lip and rockers... much better fit.
Most from RPMcorvette, the front air intake and the side air intake/door handles came from Amazon. Not very satisfied with the mirror cover's and side air / door handle covers. That was the 1st time I had installed covers like this, if I do it again I will do a better job and definitely add 3M in certain area's, overall I really like the carbon fiber look but not sure I would buy them again. Stay tuned I think I'm going to do a video on removal and re installation with more tape and see how that goes. I should have known better than to buy parts for the C8 from an Amazon supplier. Have heard good things about Paragon parts I wish I would have went there 1st.
@@70elco28 yeah, it is tough out there at the moment. The reviews are fairly nonexistent, so you end up having to take a chance on vendors. Like I was saying, I went with AGM (who supposedly has a good reputation) and the fitment and adhesion still sucked. Amazon has replacement 3M tape. My solution was similar to what you were saying... just add more 3M. Seems to have worked so far. As for fitment, I have the same issue with the two piece of the side vent touching when the door is closed... thus far, no major issues from that, just annoying. Good luck!
What brand were your after market parts. I hear ACS and Paragon Performance parts don’t have those issues you were having. With the rocker panels and air intake piece. .
Mirror, caps, Side skirts, stingray emblem, front lip spoiler and high wing, RPMCorvette.com , the side air inlet and the front air inlet I actually bought off Amazon and probably should have went with someone else.
They're baked in an oven and will deform. Ask for another set and replace them.
Rivets are better as they won't fall out and flatten your tire.
Hope that doesn't happen, but yeah if the kit would've came with rivets I would have used them
You should not have used carbon fiber anywhere on the outside of your ar; road conditions will rip them apart.
Naaa, it was fine. Cars gone now anyway. Thanks for watching
