In this video, we are specifically focusing on SSI, supplemental security income which is administered by Social Security to roughly 8,000,000 beneficiaries each month. We are talking about these monthly benefit checks as well as how much they would increase as a result of the removal of the marriage penalty. Those who struggle more on earth, will have a more relaxed heavenly afterlife where we won't have to struggle anymore for anything. We won't be disabled or unable to walk or feel our chronic never-ending earth pains when we cross over!! Or so it's believed. I know I used to be a very possession concerned person. I still like things, but it's not priority for me to have nice new things. I have a nice couch I just got from a neighbor. He had it outside about a week. But it's cleaned up n a gorgeous pink. Funny bc I wanted to use Mediterranean colors in my new living room. Now I can. I gave my neighbor $50 for that couch & a recliner, both that were picked for me. I didn't care. I just wanted a place to relax outside my bedroom.

The marriage penalty is unfair. However I believe their theory is that two people can live as cheaply as one. 1 living space, 1 utility bill, 1 cable bill, shared meals, etc. Still not fair to penalize married couples.
My granddaughter is bi-polar schizophrenic. She tried to work but only lasted a couple of weeks before being let go. This happened after she got married. So her husband can work but she can't. She lost her SSI when she got married. Not only that, they didn't notify her until she owed 12000 back. I've been paying it back for her. Unlike married couples who both can work, the is like a double penalty. She can't work, nor can she collect SSI. They also have a 5 yr. old. This is so unfair.
But you both paid in separate. They took double the money but, only want to pay half!

The botto. line is to stay single and just live toghter. The government really don't care because they don't want us to be with a partner when it come to marriage, which is really how it should be according to the bible. SSI seems to always get help when those that have worked their whole live and deserve what they worked for never get extra. This is what I call discrimination against all of those collecting their retirement.

If no one is working then they should get the full amount. Now my opinion is based on one person on SSI. I totally agree with you. All married couples can work! My granddaughter couldn't work. She tried twice and was fired. She's bi-polar schizophrenic so it's hard for her to keep a job. When she got married, she lost her SSI. Since they got married, they had a daughter. They're forced to raise their daughter on the husband's income. Why?

I have always thought that is wrong for two people that are in love with each other. That’s on SSI or SSDI or SS get penalized because they marry one another. What does the government have to say who we can and cannot marry and take benefits away that’s not helping nobody too poor people and love with each other. What does your own retirement fund my husband soon got retirement fund and the lady at the social security office fixed it where I would get some too I was over drafted so the bank took mine which that's going to be counted as income food stamps for 3 years he got two checks at one time and one was actually canceled and I turned out electric cuz he didn't get to pay it on time not supposed to eat commodities is not got everything in it that you can eat I can't get the special doctors now they took my check down the 599

My check being on soc sec disabilty is counted against my husband ssi check every time we get a raise he never see his raise and he only get 266.00 because of it
The marriage penalty has always angered me from the initiation of it, before I was any where near ever needing ssi or ssdi. Plain and simple it is a T4 type attitude that made that bill.
When you get married, you don’t turn into a single person. All of your expenses are the same for each person so there should be no reduction.
The marriage penalty only hurts the one that are married just another way for them to take from us what we should be owed n they take it away like the cola every year they give us what they want us to have not what we r owed...God Bless
