    Thanks for taking the time to do this video. You’re right, weird location. But it’s all out of the way and if you really need it, the extra few seconds isn’t a big deal. And a little tip, turn the handle around and you can use it like a speed wrench.

    Hey Rob... any truck I've had over the last set few years... I've always taken the tire out from underneath the truck and stored it in the bed... easier to get at, and you don't have to go through that process when it's raining or snowing out. Also over the years that lowering mechanism will rust and seize and you won't be able to lower the tire when you need it....keep the great vids coming!!

    I see they did upgrades to that tire lowerer. I had to change my tire on my 07 tacoma on the tollway. Thank God I check the air at times on it and fill it up, by crawling under the truck. There is a tpms on that tire as well. Those stupid rods kept falling apart. They had little side locking screws that didn't work so well. Yours looks like it snaps together. It also took me several minutes to figure out how to get the tire off and out from underneath the truck when it got lowered. Then I put the jack in the wrong spot. I found I had to put it under the axle and spin it with those rods that kept coming apart.

    • @RobMotive

      It’s a horribly weak setup IMO! Those rods are very thin! Getting the end in the right place would be a real blast in the rain or snow!!!!!!

    Car makers should have a door open from the truck bed that lifts up to make tire access easier. I have NO idea why some innovative automobile manufacturer hasn't ALREADY figured this out. How do I get the flat tire off if there's no tools??

  • @obeejuan2558
    @obeejuan2558 5 лет назад +1

    Well Rob, you got a lot of positive feedback but let me take a little air out of your tire. First, your Tundra is a lot newer than mine and should have that old fashioned owners manual. Look in the index (it's at the back of the book) and look for "Spare Tire." The index is in alphabetical order so it's pretty easy. It will probably take a minute tops to find where the tools are and how to assemble them. Secondly, since this seemed to be quite a chore for you, you might consider turning that spare tire over so the valve stem is facing DOWN; that's the direction toward the ground. That way you will never have to take the tire out to check the pressure or inflate it. Thirdly, cut out at least half the chatter and get to the job. There's not that much to this job and doesn't warrant nearly 12 minutes. Some RUclipsrs actually fast forward portions. I am 77 years old and don't have time to waste. Giddyup Rob, ; )

    This the dumbest thing I've ever seen, right along with the remote start that starts the truck, then kills it when you open the door!

    This is so primitive cant they just give us a button that it would lower it when u need it. This would be miserable on the side of highway when you oncoming traffic... One more button wont hurt them.
