    The Bialetti Venus Moka Pot combines beauty and elegance in a tastefully designed stove-top espresso maker with a unique style. The Venus can produce a rich, authentic Italian espresso in just 4-5 minutes.
    The Venus beautiful stove-top espresso maker body is constructed completely made from high quality 18/10 stainless steel (including all internal parts). The Venus can be used on gas, electric, and induction stoves.
    You can use the Venus on any burner or induction which allows this versatile unit to be used anywhere. Simply add water to the bottom chamber up to the release level and add your coffee into the stainless steel filter. Do not tamp the coffee as water must easily flow through. Screw the Venus back together and place the Venus on a stove top. If using a gas or flame please ensure the flame is not larger then the base of the moka pot. The water pressure will increase which will cause the value to release and the water will move through the coffee grounds. Then the coffee will push to the top chamber through the valve. Once you hear a gurgling sound your Moka Pot is complete, stir the coffee in the chamber to equalise the flavours. Enjoy the great Italian coffee.
    Cleaning is easy however we recommend not using a washing machine, wire or rough brush. Instead use a soft brush to clean your Venus.
    BIALETTI VENUS - ALL SIZES FEATURES

    I just purchased this after watching the video. I have a question if anyone can help. I have been using Venus 4 cup for two days. On the first day, both hole or “nozzle” were pouring out the coffee and I use electric stove and set the heat to level 3 (there are 7 level). But on the second day, I used the venus on the different burner but set the heat to level 2. I noticed that only one hole or nozzle was releasing the coffee. Is it because of the burner didnt have enough heat? Or is it because of bialetti? Like dirty or something stuck on one side?

  • @uncinarynin

    Note that the 2-cup version doesn't work on induction stoves (or it's not guaranteed to work, though some report they could get it recognized there too). For the 4-cup I use 1000 W to heat up and turn down the energy once coffee starts coming out, then turn it off. Induction heats up the bottom part a lot, so warning, don't touch it or you can get burned.
    Don't grind the coffee too fine, otherwise it could go through the holes and into your cup.

    The espresso brewed in the video does not have a solid layer of crema on top. With my old-school aluminum Moka pot I am often able to get this, but I don't feel like getting Alzheimer's down the line from continuing to use an aluminum pot for my espresso, so, now I'm trying the stainless steel pot.
    Also, with the aluminum pot, I've gotten the best results by having the extremely fine ground coffee -- closer to a Greek or Turkish grind -- in a heaping mound on top of the basket. In this video the guy making the espresso has the ground coffee level with the top of the basket.
    Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

    Don't press it. Every Italian will say the same. Water just below the valve, to touch it but not to come to the middle of it. Really low fire, ideally gas cause you can regulate the temp. better. On a ceramic stove, I use one ring to heaten up the water and then I put on the other one which is on low temperature... Because it cannot cool down so fast, so the coffee will go out too quickly. Oh believe me, I've mastered this :D
    Recommended commercial coffees for this coffee pot - Lavazza Red (70%arabica30%robusta) and Gold (100%arabica), the basic Lavazza is not so good, Pellini top (this one is great).

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад

      Yes 😀 Water in the mug first, measure the amount you want - than add a little bit more. It's about 8g of coffee per cup ... or a good heaped table spoon. Generally though I wouldn't recommend brewing anything less than half the Moka Pot's capacity. Give two cups a go, but if it doesn;t work out - it'll be because theres not enough coffee and water being used 👍

I would have got at least two normal cups out of the equivalent size in my old unbranded moka pot (I think it is a 6 espresso cup size). The Venus always has water in the chamber at the bottom still. I suspect it is getting worse. Does anyone know what is going on? It is quite new and so frustrating. I only switched pots because the other poured very badly and would make a big mess.

    Hi, I have been happily using my Bialetti 4 cup in stainless for about 9 years with no problems and I love it and the incredible coffee it produces. My question is lately it is not brewing the strong coffee I have been used to. Do you know what the problem might be? I am planning to find replacement rubber gaskets but am wondering if I should try to clean the valve at the same time. If so can you do a demo on how to do this correctly?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад

      Yes, give it a good clean with the gasket and seal out - under some how water will remove any coffee oils that might be slowing down the brew. With a new seal and gasket- with it washed - there shouldn't be any reason it doesn't work like new again 👍

    • @johnmichaelrichards
      @johnmichaelrichards 2 года назад +1

      No! Do not meddle with the valve - it is a safety device. If your brew is not as intense as you're used to then the gasket may have failed or may not be correctly seated. Alternatively, the filter may be clogged and require cleaning by soaking in vinegar to remove limescale. Replacement gaskets and filters are available from Bialetti.

      It's hard to tell when to turn off the heat and when to remove from the heat to get a nice strong cup of coffee. It's easier when using the Moka pot Express (aluminum). Basically when the liquid turns a light colour.
      I guess the best way to remove it is watch it, and once you see the foam around the tube coffee comes out of, remove from the heat. This is possibly a cue/clue to remove it right here and then and not later.

    Hi! I would like to know how/if you can replace the silicone filter ring on the top part of the Bialetti. How often should you do it? I know on the aluminum ones, it comes off easily. Mine stainless steel Venus is new so the silicone filter seems firmly secure. Is there a way to replace this? Thanks!

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад +2

      Hi there, there sure is. You can replace them as they need it. They are not easily removed but can be gently plucked out using a flat head screwdriver or something similar. - This so you can can regularly clean it. If done so, this will keep the seal lasting for longer.
      In most cases you shouldn't need to replace the seal under 5yrs of use - but if it has become rock hard, brittle or has broken bits of the seal coming off it - no longer holding a proper seal when you tighten the top down to the water compartment - then I would replace the seal - and filter at the same time. Hope this helps 😀

      I have a collection of moka pots and have found that there is no 'one best way' to use a moka pot -- it highly depends on exactly which moka pot you have (and how you like your coffee to taste). Take some time to figure out exactly what works best, for the pot you have. Different beans, different grinds, different heat are the three main variables to adjust.

      Hi there, okay let's get coffee brewing for you first! 😀 A fry pan is going to be very slow at transferring the heat to the pot I'm afraid - I've tried this myself too 😂 I mean it works but it will take a very long time no? // You're best to get either a Heat Diffuser or Induction Plate, both readily available on-line. Or you can use some mesh wire, so long as it's quite thick wire, otherwise it won't be string enough to hold up the brewer. - I think this is your biggest issue - not getting enough heat to the unit. 👉 try adding hot water to the Moka Pot prior to placing it on the stove too, this should speed things up. - If you don't see any coffee coming out after a few minutes, turn up the heat, but if the pressure valve releases - this tells me your coffee grind to too fine. 👉 so try a medium grind if all else fails 👌
      The Seal can be removed carefully using a blunt knife or fork to get underneath it to pop it out. You should only need to raise one edge and then the rest should follow. The Metal screen is held in place by this seal so that whould pop off once the seal is removed. - make sure not to tear or cut the seal - but if you do, don't worry too much as seals are available to purchase.
      Let me know how you go and Happy brewing my friend!

    When I follow the instructions, the Bialetti Venus 2-cup leaves about 20% of the water in the bottom chamber. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  7 месяцев назад

      heat may have not been high enough - or more likely the ground coffee may have been too tightly compacted or too fine. This will stop those lasts bits of water from getting through the grinds. Also - you will also find water in the bottom every time - but 20% sounds a bit much 👍

    Been working fabulously for months but suddenly the coffee is not brewing and the pressure is releasing through the valve not the coffee grinds. I have used this blend of coffee before with no problem. The pressure is so far out of whack it has buckled the filter disc! I’ve ordered a replacement disc but was hoping you could tell me why this has happened so I can avoid it happening again. Cheers

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад

      That suggest to me there sounds like a blockage in the spout or or the metal disc originally. Given the Whole unit a soak under some hot water and perhaps try using it once without coffee, just water and if there's no issue, than you may consider it is the ground coffee is either too fine or there's too much coffee in the basket causing the water to be blocked.

    Hello. I just purchased a 4 cup Venus Moka pot to use with my Frigidaire Gallery Induction cooktop after using a classic 3 cup Moka Express with a mini hot plate. I am having a problem with the Venus on the induction. The Venus allows water that is is not boiling hot to perculate up through the channel. I am continuing to try different techniques, but I am wasting a lot of coffee and time. I am wondering if another user has found the effective technique for brewing delicious coffee with a Venus 4 Cup on an induction cooptop.

    • @GeorgeNegrete
      @GeorgeNegrete Год назад

      I made one more attempt and I think I figured out the problem; not enough coffee grounds to create pressure. I used a scale and measured 200ml of boiled water and attempted to add 20g of Lavazza Espresso grounds. I was only able to put 18g of grounds in the filter. I know I was not putting that much coffee in on previous attempts. I placed induction on level 4 out of 10. It stated flowing at 95 seconds. Very, very slow. It finished at 4 minutes 30 seconds. Wonderful taste!
      So, my problem was I was not creating enough resistance for the water and it was allowed to flow too easily, which was also too cold.

      I use a bottle brush. Fill the upper chamber with water (or soapy water) and let it sit for an hour or more. Then dump it out, and rinse with clean water, while using the bottle brush.
      Worst case, you can run a stainless steel moka pot through the dishwasher and it'll come out sparkling clean. I suspect if you add a bit of dishwasher detergent, for the soaking method, that will convince any stubborn stains to disappear (although do not use detergent with an aluminum pot).

    Hi there! It seems that the Venus does not produce as much crema as the brikka...however, my Italian friends recommended me this one because it is stainless steel and the brikka is aluminium, which is less durable. What do you think? Could there be a way to produce some crema with the venus or not? And should I be worried about the longevity of the brikka if I’d go with it? Thanks!

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 года назад +3

      Crema is an emulsification of oils found in the coffee beans mixed with water - if the pressure isn't high enough the oils won't emulsify sufficiently to create that foam. So Moka Pots can create a crema - but it isn't a very convincing one..
      The Brikka is a Moka Pot but has that additional pressure valve that increases brewing pressure to create a crema-like foam - the crema in general never lasts very long as it's still way under the regular pressures of around 9bars in an espresso machine.
      Aluminium versus Stainless Steel - is more down to personal preferences and whether or not you're using an Induction cooktop. Stainless steel will work on Induction- Aluminium will not. Stainless Steel is far easier to clean and does not oxidise - Aluminium does oxidise and gets metallic stains in it if not taking care of. This is why most prefer the stainless steel version. In saying that - I find the flavour from the Aluminium Moka Pots are slightly better 😂

      The new Venus has a thicker base for better heating on induction hobs. The tops are are a bit taller. They don’t say it in the manual or anything but the taller top means that the last spurts of over extracted bitter coffee stay in the chimney. My opinion, the new ‘R’ ones make sweeter, less bitter coffee. Not much difference and the old ones are fine but I prefer the new ones.

    Hi! Even when I use a low setting on my induction hob (2-3 of 10) with cold water, I have issues - first, the coffee starts brewing way too quickly, then stops, then starts again throughout the process. Almost as if the heat is surging, so you never know when it's finished (there's always water left in the bottom which I know is normal but it varies a lot). The end result is espresso that is often watery and usually a small amount compared to the amount of water I use (I have tried water amounts up to the valve, 75% and 50% of that). The espresso is not comparable to using a non induction Moka on a normal hob which is very disappointing (different flavour and strength). Any advice? I have tried already-ground coffee from different brands and ground my own too, usually to a fine grind. In summary, it seems it brews too quick and inconsistent. Thanks!

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 года назад +3

      Yes, if you're familiar with both the Standard aluminium and stainless steel - you'd notice a difference in them. I prefer the Aluminium Moka POt but many people choose stainless steel for health reasons - However with only having an induction stove there's no getting around it unless you use an induction hot plate and then the old Moka pot - though - as you've already worked out - most induction stoves pulse heat - which doesn't really work well for coffee brewing. So I could suggest grinding the coffee finer - and placing it on the stove on a High Heat .. this way the stove has to keep the heat up and with a finer grind than the bre may well; be slowed down as it passes through the filter ... be sure not to go too fine or else it may over pressurise - or rather make sure you don't fill the water vessel too high above the safety valve.. This is what I would advise at the moment.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад +3

      If you can - grind finer coffee and add more grounds coffee to the basket. It is something you'll discover with the stainless steel pots - they do brew a little different. The coffee baskets are smaller to begin with and heat is transferred much quicker to the water for a rapid brew, so try lowering the heat to extend the brew time - this should help create a more heavy rich brew 👌
      In terms of heat conductivity - aluminium takes a little longer to heat up but holds on to the heat well - keeping a consistent temperature during brewing - whereas the stainless steel transfers heat much quicker - heating up quicker, but cools down equally as fast.

      Good choice! I would say - as it begins to spurt, there's no real time frame so to speak - you want it steadily coming out rather than spurting out everywhere - which would indicate the heat is too high. Nice and steady brew until you get to the end - where it will inevitably start spurting - if you can get it just before this point and remove from the stove - that's the perfect brew.
      TLDR: Spurting is bad. Too much heat or end of the brew is when this happens. Avoid at all costs.

      Learning how to use a moka pot is a whole thing that some people don't have the patience to do. I have a whole collection of moka pots and the Venus is the best out of all of them.
      Your results are going to vary wildly with exactly which beans you buy, and how you grind them. I suggest you try small amounts of beans from local coffee shops (not grocery stores), until you find something that tastes good. The three main variables are beans, grind, and heat level.
      I remember once buying Dunkin Donuts beans from a grocery store (because I saw good reviews evvvvverywhere), and I didn't get a single drinkable cup of coffee from the entire bag. Every cup was stale and disgusting, even though I ground 'just enough', immediately before brewing. They were so bad, I returned them (never in my life, had I returned coffee beans).
      You can get an amazing cup of strong coffee (my goal is 'good enough to drink black'), but you have to put a bit of work in to find 'your recipe'. The good news is, you already have a Venus.

    I've made one nice cup out of 20 with this, I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong. Although I did notice the grind appears to be a lot finer from the video you've shown. Used a bialetti Moka pot for years with no problems. Any ideas?

      Buy Lavazza Red or Gold, or any italian brend that has a grind especially for moka pot. Then you see my comment on the video. Hope that helps!

      My biggest issue was actually the Induction cooktop - because some induction tops pulse and this pulsing is isn't really conducive to a good cup of coffee, you need a nice steady heat source.. but otherwise - make sure you use a full basket of coffee, top up the water, cold or hot, and on a medium heat... perhaps look at the type of coffee you're using too

      @@vladiinsky Hi I've only just seen this response, thanks for taking the time. I indeed found that it was the grind. First I bought espresso pre-ground and it was fine, Then I followed the instructions on my hard grinder to produce the same grind myself. Tastes fine now!

      @@AlternativeBrewing thanks for the reply. We have a gas top so the heat source is pretty consistent. Getting a finer grind did the trick for me in the end.

      Grind size is very NB with Moka - somewhere between filter and espresso, closer to espresso. Do not buy filter or espresso pre ground coffee. Either invest in a grinder and grind fresh (Best) or find a roaster that you can buy Moka ground coffee from. As soon as you hear the gurgle from the pot on the stove, remove from heat source and run the base under cold water to stop over extraction. Hope this helps

    Should you use soap or just hot water to clean the parts?

      You can use a small amount of soap on the stainless steel mocha pots without any concern 👌

    I've had a moka pot for a few months now and was brewing a cup of coffee when I noticed that the bubbling sound stopped for no reason, and when I poured the coffee out there was a ringing sound, like an object hitting the moka pot from the inside. Has anyone else experienced this?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 года назад +1

      bizzare! and haven't found anything that's creating the noise? It may be due to expansion and contraction of the metal idk

      I think your safety valve might have blown, causing the coffee to stop brewing and producing the ringing sound, when it pinged off the inside of the pot. Don't use a moka pot with a malfunctioning safety valve, because excess pressure build up could be very dangerous.

    Can I use milk instead of water ?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад

      I would not advise this. It's would block up the valve quite quickly and milk at boiling temperatures split apart and wouldn't taste good.

      Hi there, just use half the water and half the coffee 😀 but don't use less than half the capacity of the brewer - it wont work as well

    I bought a 2 cup one and it had a big problem (for me) - the lower part is really hard to clean. Also the gasket did not fit the machine well. My advice is to avoid - at least the 2 cup model.

      No loss.... a so-called '2-cup' model only produces a large spoonful of coffee... not enough to bother making. Normal people should go for a 6 cup - 12 cup size (which is only one or two mugs of coffee).

    Why does the coffee in the video not look as strong/rich as the classic bialetti Moka pot?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 года назад

      Lot's of factors about the specific coffee I was using for this video that don't have any true comparison across this or the Moka Express. They'll both brew very similar rich coffee - that can have crema on it.
