Hello new subscribers! welcome aboard :)
Hey Chris, I heard the A7iii runs a little slow and laggy if you only use one battery in the grip. Have you experienced this? Thanks!
Attaching the removed battery door to a little slot inside the grip? That is so smart. A+
Yep. Genius!
3 Years later and you convinced me to buy this Battery grip. Thanks Chris! :)
If it wasn't for your video from 5 years ago, I would've had no idea the battery grip I ordered could be used on my A7iii. The box said it was for the A9 and A7Riii but I followed your steps and what do you know, both batteries showed up on the screen! Thank you!
this is fantastic... your channel is on the verge of blowing up... you have really good content and skills!!
thankyou!! that means alot!
Just bought this, thanks. It is better than expected so far. This one is way better than the a6500 one they made which was good but not as good as this version!!!
Thanks for the video man! I just bought the A7iii and am a 9 year Nikon shooter switching to the Sony system since I do almost entirely video these days, so all your videos about the Sony system, especially the A7iii are hugely helpful for me. Nervous about a whole new camera system but I have no doubt I'll be happy in the long run! Keep 'em coming!
Adam Ripplinger glad I can help out Adam, exactly why I do this channel! Once you have gotten used to the camera you will wonder how you ever dealt with Nikon 😂
Chris Brockhurst haha I have a feeling you’re right about that!
Great product. And congratulations for the new camera!!
thankyou Antonio!
loved the meike for my a6500, no need for teh a7iii. already get almost a full day with 1 battery and the size is already great!
yeh battery life is nuts on it. Shot an entire wedding the other day (video) on 1 battery!!!! I like the grip because it gives it extra size, more... grippy :)
you dont happen to still have the manual? I lost mine and the remote wont pair with the grip. I cant find it anywhere on google.
Really enjoying the videos mate. You're inspiring a fellow Brit to get started on youtube!
Cheers Matthew, appreciate that. You just got starting doing it!!
I guess I was on the right track with what to buy...this literally just got delivered to my front door about an hour ago. Excited to try it out tonight. Glad to hear you endorse it as well!
pretty solid and happy with it so far!
You were totally right about the smell! hahah can't even put my finger on it, but you were totally right. I actually like the shutter button better on the grip to be honest!
Adventures with Mackryn glad I’m not the only one 😂
Thanks a lot for this review Chris!! Love the content, keep it up!!
cheers! appreciate you watching!!
Chris, $149 at amazon.ca but hey, thanks, I was looking to buy this battery grip and want to see if is a good one. Good review, straightforward.
Thanks Carlos. Good to know!!
I have my a7iii now because of you! Thank you bro! Pls keep posting! Im a solid subscriber of yours! Haha
amazing! how are you liking it?? lots more content coming :) thanks for the support!!!

@@chrisbrockhurst havent been using it that much yet. been very busy since i bought it. but will let you critic my product when i get to know and use that beast.
Hey Chris, loving the channel. Keep it up!
Cheers Benny!!
Great review! Thanks! Just what I needed to make a purchase decision.
Glad I could help! Still using mine and love it 🤛🏼
Great video man! lets watch as amazon incrementally increases the price now over the next few days haha
they do like to do that when things become popular haha
Another great video man!
That Modern Dude cheers man!
Thank you!! Just saved me lol. I couldn't figure out how to take the batter door off :)
your welcome :)
Hey bro ! keep up the great work, love ur content
cheers Alex
Mine still won’t save new settings
hey I just got mine in today my only gripe is that the on-off switch seems a little loose like it doesn't click in place like the one on the camera
Still waiting for your upgrade experience from the a6300. Worth the money? More things accomplished? Better video & photography?
I did this one
ruclips.net/video/SakzW83QkBU/видео.html
I want to use it a bit more before a detailed video!
Can you do some video work or photography with the 85mm please and thank you.
Juss Fayth 85mm video I did recently ruclips.net/video/qokOY3aGq0o/видео.html
Thanks for the this video. Very informative.
Appreciate that!
Hi Chris, I don’t find the joystick as responsive as the one on the camera. Is this normal or do I have a faulty grip. It does work just you have to press harder.
Thanks
Great Chanel by the way
Hey Paul, mine is pretty light to use, don't have to press too hard. It sounds like you may have a faulty one. Did you get it from Amazon? Appreciate the support!
Chris Brockhurst got a replacement and all is good with it. Thanks for your help
good to hear!
quick question bro, is there lag time when turning on the camera and grip? On my a6500 there was a lag of the camera actually turning on which made it annoying
With Sony lenses not really, maybe a second, with Sigma yes sometimes.a couple of seconds. But not the same every time, which is odd.
I love your videos man! Question, have you had an issue with the settings being reverted back to whatever settings you had before you installed the grip? Whenever I turn mine off and back on, it changes all settings back to the original
I cant say I have ever had that issue Darian, sounds like it could potentially be faulty if its screwing with your settings. Sorry man, id return it and try getting it replaced
I’ve had the same issue with mine.
Apparently it only happens if the camera is turned on first and then the grip. If the grip is turned on first and then the camera, that is not an issue.
I have been trying to think of a good rig setup that would be a dedicated vertical setup for taking social media content for both video and photo. Possibly using this grip with some form of cage and grip on top or side. Any ideas or thoughts on this Chris?
Great vid. Enjoying the content
thanks Michael
so....how do you turn the camera into this crop mode ? Haven't seen that in the video. For various reasons I still want to use some of my old lenses with my new purchased A7 Mark II.
Great review. Thanks!
thankyou, appreciate the support
Can you also review the battery performance? Btw great informative video. New subscriber here! 👍
when I do my full review, definitely. thats for the support!
The contact point pushing pin doesn't fit well with a7iii as the grip is designed for a9
it works fine
Great video , thank you . I have a question , can you charge the batteries in the grip via the usb port of the camera ?
That’s actually a great question that I don’t have the answer too as have never tried... will have to check it out and see
that'll be a great way to charge two batteries without having to take the external charger. I know it works with the a6300 Meike grip
Did we ever figure out if this works?
grazie mille il tuo video è stato illuminante
Hi! One question, did you use the remote shutter that comes with the grip? Thanks a lot.
hey! I havnt ever used it
Just bought this battery grip but it behaves differently on my sony a73.. The on and off switch on the grip does nothing..The on switch on the camera just takes care of everything.. pretty weird.
Thanks for sharing it
Talles Vito welcome!
Dear Chris Brockhurst,
Today I received this product, I have sony A7M3, but I guess something wrong.
I put A7M3 body into this grip(with battery) together tightly, so battery function of this grip is working well,
but all buttons of the grip are not working. never! on/off button, af-on button, c1, c2 button etc,, everthing.
How can I solve this issue? I really want to use this product, but I don't know what should I do at present.
have you turned the grip on? otherwise sounds faulty and I would try and exchange
Hi Chris, is it possible to use SMALLRIG Cage with this Grip like the original Sony Grip VG-C3EM? Thanks
I believe they do make one that it will work with!
thank you ....well-done video
✌🏻
Had it for a while now, what are your thoughts
still works great, no issues whats so ever
hey there great video, I have a question. I am new to sony ecosystem. How do I check battery percentage is there a setting I can see or how would I know for instance. Something similar to what canon uses in there camera. I just got the a7 iii and I know they don't come charged but I do see a red battery symbol with a line across it is this normal.
Gabriel Ortiz Jr thanks! Welcome to Sony!!! Red battery with line means the battery is exhausted, it needs to be charged. They get shipped at 0%.... let it charge and it will then show you % left of battery
Many thanks and great page, I really appreciate it now the other question I have is with the battery grip and 2 batteries inserted how would you monitor both?
Hey, I heard the A7iii runs a little slow and laggy if you only use one battery in the grip. Have you experienced this? Thanks!
The Sony version is said to have a very flimsy battery cradle, is the cradle on this sturdy?
Do you think it is sturdy enough to put on a gimbal?
Absolutely. It’s very well made
Cool. You made me buy it.
still holding up strong now a few months later so definitely worth it :)
replace batteries???
Is that the Sony 85 1.8? How does it fare? I’m thinking of jumping ship! Tks! 🙋🏻♂️
Yep 85mm F1.8, beautiful lens, I did a little review and why I love it here ruclips.net/video/qokOY3aGq0o/видео.html
Chris Brockhurst tks man. I’ll be looking at the vid! 👍🏼
In my country this is just 60$ brand new compared to 450$ for the official one. lol
Well that’s pretty cheap!!!
thank you for your video! Do you know if the camera loses the weather seal because of that gap on the bottom? can water or moisture get in? thank you brother!
Probably can but it’s going to be tough! It’s a tight fit
Okay I'm not sure if anybody ask this question but will the Z batteries fit in this grip?
If you mean the new batteries for the A7riii, A9 and A7iii, then yep. Fits 2 of em.
lol the smell of the grip
It actually does!!!
What does battery grip do sir
Beacause i am beiggner photographer ???
Double the battery life, and much larger area for you to grip. Also allows better control in portrait
Have you come across any resources for how to use the remote for time lapse? My google skills are failing me.
I havnt yet, maybe it’s a potential video for the future!
Finally figured it out, took a lot of playing around with it. I was going to be taking a photo of a rocket launch (that didn't end up happening) and needed to figure out how to shoot a 4 min exposure with it, finally got there, only for the launch to be postponed. Bummer, but at least I figured out that Meike remote!
I can’t seem to figure out the intervalometer feature, nor can I find any information online anywhere. I’ve got the long exposure down, but not the time lapse. Have you had some luck with that yet?
That's pretty pricy for a chinese 3rd grip? I remembered I paid $80 Canadian on amazon for my A7rii grip. I guess it is fairly new product though.
new product and there really isn't any other ones out there right now for it. A couple of months and I'm sure it will come down
now it is only $103(USD) on amazon
Does it still works fine?
If I have the hand grip with two batts.. How do I tell it which batt to use? is about 25% on one and 100% on the other!
It will use one until dead and then start on the other
will it work with sony A7ii?
Question, I been looking for a remote for long exposures and tripod pic opportunities. With the remote that comes with the camera, would you still buy a plug in shutter release or remote or is the remote that comes with the grip do it all?
The app connected with a phone works really great, a hot shoe wireless trigger is my preference
will peak designs capture clutch be long enough to connect to the arca swiss that you'll now have to attach to the bottom of the battery grip?
it should work, but its personal preference in all honesty
Do you like a battery grip or a smallrig set up for hand-held?
Smallrig now bit I used to prefer the grip
what are your favorite camera cages for the a7iii with and without the grip
SmallRig cages all the way
can i use it for sony A7Riii?
How many pictures can we take using all the batteries?
how long is a piece of string?
i got today the MEKE MK-A9 grip and this grip smells like a cheical plant. its disgusting. i will test the grip on sunday and if its still smells like that and my hands after using it too i will sent the grip back bcs thats really not what im looking for.
btw your link send me to another grip with different button layout maybe check the link and update it
Any help in pairing the remote controller which comes with the grip? I’ve done it once but when you turn it off it doesn’t want to pair again.. the instructions are rather confusing.
hmmm interesting, I have actually never used it. I use the play memories app for control as it gives a live read out of the screen/settings
Thinking about getting this, will this affect my peak design clutch?
That’s a good question, depends how much extra strap you have available on the clutch and size of your hand I would say. Would need at least 4 inches more length
Chris Brockhurst don't wanna spend 100$ on the grip and then not be able to use my 50$ hand strap lol
Steven Sanchez haha yeh I agree. Get it from amazon.. you can always return if it doesn’t fit!
Chris Brockhurst does the grip have any anchor points to relocate the hand strap with having to grab it in an awkward position?
you could mount to the tripod screw on the bottom of the grip?
Hi is there a way to charge the grip with both batteries in it? So plug a USB into the grip and it will charge both of the batteries
Nope. don't think so
Chris Brockhurst that would help.. thanks man
Did this hold up after a few years?
still have it, still works!
❤️🙌
thanks!
How are you finding the a7iii compared to the a6300
check out my other video, I share my initial impressions!
just paid 55$ for this on ebay
That’s a great price, nice one
Dude how is the grip made of a similiar material as the camera if the grip is PLASTIC and the camera is MAGNESIUM ALLOY
Magic
I'm looking for genuine used review , should I get it ? And does it have any battery drain issue?
a7iii battery is too good for these grip. imo these make the camera too bulky and ugly.
agreed the battery life is insane in the Z compared to the previous style. I like the bigger form factor, more to hold!
no remote?
yeh it comes with one, I just didn't talk about it
Chris Brockhurst does it work and does it have a timer/timdlaps fuction?
Sjoerd verbraak honestly haven’t used it so couldn’t say
Damn you got ripped off it’s like 60 bucks on amazon
I bought it a couple years ago when it first came out
chinese friend says maker is correct pron
Well now I know, Thankyou to your friend!
chris i love you!
*blushes*
Just got it for $59
Jesus love you all so much❤️✝️
Great review, thanks, will definitely buy one.
Still going strong all these months later too
