Out of all the lens I own the 85mm F1.8 is hands down my favorite. I used it for everything. Portraits, Astro, Urban, Product photography. It IS relative.
Nikko Arnado I just got the 24-105 and a7riii. The lens is better built, has oss, sharper wide open and corner to corner, and way more versatile. I also didn’t really need f2.8 and 28mm is not wide enough for me.
Great Vid... IDK about the new Rav... batteries but if they r like the old ones, u will b replacing them in 3months... one tip... when it turns green l, UNPLUG... Do all the buttons work on the grip????
Great video as usual Brandon!! At 0:36 in your video, you have a full setup of smallrig with handle, monitor, "metallic tube", etc.. Is it possible to know every gear on this? Regards
depends on your needs and preferences. i've been shooting canon for about 3 years. from rebel to 5dmiv. even rented 1dxmii for shoots. i've always loved canon despite shortcomings... but wanted to try something lighter and more video capable. sony was the answer for me. if you own a bunch of native canon glass, i picked up the Sigma MC-11 adapter to be able use my Canon 50mm 1.2, Tamron G2 70-200mm, Canon USM 85mm f1.8, and Canon 24-70 f2.8 II on my new a7iii and they all work great with autofocus and eye AF too. There's something about using sigma's adapter that makes me wish i switched to Sony earlier, although it'd be nice to have focus peaking, but again, it's an adapter to convert EF to E we're talking about. Kudos to Sigma. they nailed it with the MC-11. I also picked up the 55mm Zeiss 1.8 along with the a7iii and am very pleased with image quality. I feel like it really depends on your preferences bro. Sony is light and highly capable. you're getting Full HD 120fps in camera that costs 1-3rd what the 1dx costs for very similar slow motion capability. that for me was enough to give sony a try, and I will say that this camera is absolutely amazing and highly customizable. colors are excellent out of body once you do some research and get your picture profiles set up, but even out of body colors have really come a long way for sony.
No I don’t have any issues with movement at all. But there is a small screw hole on the right side that you can put a screw through the strap holder and into the cage to really lock it down
Smallrig now have a hot shoe lock that locks in the top of the camera. Unfortunate that it had to be a separately sold product, but it's a good solution.
Thank you for a wonderful video. The cage is the one that i am mostly interested in seeing as I not heard of this before. May have seen it and not realize what is it.
I agree with you - inexpensive is relative in the camera game. Fast, full-frame lenses are always going to start high, especially Sony branded ones but people in the full frame Alpha game shouldn't really be surprised by now - Sony has always been right up there $$$ with the other house branded fast lenses (Sony, Canon, Nikon vs. same spec Tamron, Sigma, etc.).
Samyang/Rokinon FE lenses are more affordable. I love my 24mm 2.8 and 35mm 2.8 pancakes. More than good enough quality even on my A7Rii so should look better on the A7iii. Not under $100 but the 35mm 2.8 can be had for £189 secondhand over here in the UK so maybe something similar in the US. Those Peak Design toggles have been recalled as they've had a small handful fray and be compromised. A real shame as that D-ring free design was slick.
Ok the 85mm isn't exactly cheap. But at the same time of the dozens of full-frame Sony lenses there are maybe three that are cheaper (the 50mm f1.8, the 28-70mm and the 28mm f2).
Great video Brandon looking forward to tomorrow's Black Friday list. These aftermarket batteries are getting really good I have some for my Canon SL2 that last like all day and depending on what shooting sometimes day and half - 2 days.
@@groovesmedia989 it does make it more comfortable to hold, yes. Zhi xing said that it makes it bulky and i agree. But same as you, i'd rather have a grip because bulkiness wont matter as much when ergonomics is improved ✌👌👌
You weren't wrong about it being a cheap lens. LOL. If you think a lens like that isn't cheap then you shouldn't be playing in the big boy full frame market, especially the Sony full frame market.
Good stuff on this list. Mentioned a few things that no one else on youtube has before in videos like these. Next time you're in Austin lets link up for a shoot! @the.souz on instagram - hit me up.
If the 85mm1.8 is cheap, wait till they hear about the 85mm1.4 or any of the g master lenses. That being said, there should be no reason a 85mm1.8 should be that expensive given how nikon and Canons are way cheaper.
Under 299 is cheap lens...the sony 85mm 1.8 is above the $300 mark sooo...its not cheap none of sonys glass is really cheap in price besides the aps-c stuff and imo the only cheap lenses for Sony are canon lenses lmao nifty 50mm 24stm 10-18stm
I like your video, but I feel your voice could be deeper. People trust a deeper voice. Brings out your charisma. That's why people vote for politicians with a deeper voice. The Rock, Tony Robbins, Elliott Hulse; all charismatic, all deep voice that grabs and maintains your attention. Keep up the videos!

wanted to write the exact same thing lol
thankyou
Thank you man. Just switched from Canon to the Sony a7iii because of the price, and this is a really good starting point
same
For a quality, 1.8 lens with super fast and quiet auto focus... the sony 85 1.8 is quite affordable.
Yeah I absolutely loved the lens. I guess cheap is relative
That definitely is a cheap lens for Sony FF cameras lol I can't afford it but you weren't wrong!
Out of all the lens I own the 85mm F1.8 is hands down my favorite. I used it for everything. Portraits, Astro, Urban, Product photography. It IS relative.
hello I know this video is old but I had a question about the battery grip can you still use it with the cage on the camera? or will it not fit?
No prompt saying that the batteries are not original? I have this issue with mine and the A7iii till the update
Just grabbed a OG shirt!! Love your content Brandon! Keep it coming!!!!
is that handle sony brand? it costs more than ¥1400,which is about $200,and I can't find any third party handle with that shutter lock
Nice. U making me almost get a Sony. Am almost almost buying it.should I wait 4 A7iv
A7000 is coming tho
Guys, can you help me? Can I buy a Battery Grip for Sony A7iii, if I have a Sony A7II?
Het Bandon what do you think about the Sony 24-105 vs Tamron 28-75? On the fence. I look up to you and would really appreciate your opinion.

Do all the buttons work on the grip????
Yes
The Small Rig cages are pretty good for the money.
Craig Beckta perfect for landscape photography. I love mine. Sold the battery grip.
Thanks for the information. Can you use the battery grip with the Small Grip?
Would the small rig cage work with a gimbal?
Yes it does
Great video as usual Brandon!!
At 0:36 in your video, you have a full setup of smallrig with handle, monitor, "metallic tube", etc.. Is it possible to know every gear on this?
Regards
How long did you study and work on Adobe Premiere/Final Cut before you got good at it?
Bigger Cage for a7iii w/ battery grip?
Yes they do make one but it won’t work with my battery grip. Has to be the original Sony one.
Is there any issue with the batteries? I heard that using non oem batteries will void your warranty or potentially damage your camera... Pretty weird
Thanks allot dued ❤️
Between 1DX vs Sony a7iii which is best Camera?

Can you touch focus on the A73 with the protection on.
It still works with my protector
128gb SDXC cards from lexar are $25~
Great video Brandon!! About to buy 2 to 3 of the items on the list!
Was this video filmed on your 1DX or A73? Cheers 🙏
Both
Thanks for this!
Great vid brandon great content. Keep it up!
Hey Brandon do you have an issue with the a7iii having some movement in that small rig cage? Even when as tight as you can get it?
No I don’t have any issues with movement at all. But there is a small screw hole on the right side that you can put a screw through the strap holder and into the cage to really lock it down
Brandon Washington ok great thanks for the tip brother!

Great video! I want to know more about the cage!
Thank you for a wonderful video. The cage is the one that i am mostly interested in seeing as I not heard of this before. May have seen it and not realize what is it.
You’re welcome and absolutely. There are a lot of little pieces to making the cage work. But the video I’m working on should make it very simple.
Brandon Washington thank you, looking forward to the video
You totally fell in love with Sony gear!

Came for the sx70......didn't make it that long
Imma be honest ill rather just switch out batteries than make my camera body really bulky. Thats just me tho great vid
I agree with you though. But if you're someone who typically shoots in portrait mode then you'll be thankful for that grip 👌
@@mylesdlm grip makes the camera more comfortable to hold. I don't find the grip size big enough for my regular ass hands.
@@groovesmedia989 it does make it more comfortable to hold, yes. Zhi xing said that it makes it bulky and i agree. But same as you, i'd rather have a grip because bulkiness wont matter as much when ergonomics is improved ✌👌👌
@@mylesdlm True! plus the longer battery life for me is key, being primarily a videographer looking to get more into producing 4k content.
Sold my battery grip for a small rig L bracket. Just didn’t need it.

You weren't wrong about it being a cheap lens. LOL. If you think a lens like that isn't cheap then you shouldn't be playing in the big boy full frame market, especially the Sony full frame market.
Good point. For native lenses and FF. $600 is good. Cuz it can get double and triple that
Video starts at 1:45
if you can't buy 1.8 50mm why buy the a7iii and not something that's still decent camera with lenses that are more affordable
its a sony a7!!! good for a night clubing photography ???
Yup. Used it before
Music is too loud
Noise????? Oh wow
What lens is that that u said was cheap 😂
