  • Many of the hackathon participants will receive this special combo pack. This video will show you how easy it is to unbox and setup your printer and the battery pack. Hahaha... I was a little clumsy and the whole process should take about 5 minutes. Here is what I have done:
    1. Unbox QL820NWB
    2. Unbox PA-BU-001
    3. Remove the battery door from QL820NWB
    4. Snap in the PA-BU-001 and screw in the included 4 screws
    5. Charge the newly installed battery (if depleted)
    6. Load the sample label roll DK-2251
    7. Turn on QL820NWB, set up language and date/time
    8. Press Feed/Cut button to cut the initial excess
Now you are ready to test the printer with your sample app, downloaded from Brother SDK site. That too, should only take you 5 minutes if you already have your Xcode installed, of course. (We will do another video later).
Invest only 15 minutes of your time and you are learning the following:
    1. Putting together a professional (award-winning) label printer
    2. Integrate your iOS or Android app with the printer using the sample app
    3. Put together a killer project and to win that $5000 grand hackathon prize!
    Plus:
    1. You keep the printer (which will be super handy for almost everything you do)
    2. You keep 100% of your app, and yes, make lots of money with it.

    Hey
I am looking at investing in this setup.
Would you be able to tell me if in the battery operated setup, the Wi-Fi works with this printer? Or is it only Wi-Fi compatible when plugged to mains

Hello, battery is great and it works with both WiFi and Bluetooth. I personally use this setup all the time printing name badges at many events. They usually run for 4-6 hours and can print maybe 300-500 labels. For important events, I usually bring 2 sets of printers.

My pleasure. By the way, I have 2 printers with the batteries and they have been in service for more than 5 years now (with light uses). Use this information for your return-on-investment estimation.
