Print Information Sheet on PJ-663
Turn power on, press and hold Feed button until Data light turns red, insert a piece of thermal paper, and it will print immediately. You can also print it from the Printer Setting Tool app. (Press Power button twice to turn it off)
The Information Sheet will tell you:
1. Bluetooth Local Name: PJ-663XXXX
2. Page Counter: xxx
Note: About Page Counter, Brother PocketJet is a workhorse! I have seen 25,000 pages counter and it still prints perfectly with no negative lines. By the way, the negative lines are usually caused by the dirts on the printer's roller. This can be fixed easily with the sheet cleaner, which is sold for $.40 each. Yes, 5 for 2 dollars. You probably clean it once every 2 mont...

Brother Pocket Jet Prints Signage with 4" DK-2246 Label Roll

You can literally print a 4" by 100' signage with a Brother PocketJet full-size thermal printer using the DK-2246 label roll that is designed for the QL1110NWB printer. To keep the label roll steady, I 3D printed a pair of coasters with rubber feet. Perhaps I can call this new invention a "Roll-a-Coaster." Hahaha... you are flattering me. I spent a hour looking for it and was unable to find it. I will take some photos and show you how to make them. In fact it was very easy. Just get a DK-2226 cartridge, and the goal is for it to sit on the 3D brick. Make sure the slot is deep enough so the printer will not pull the stand and tilt the roll. You can always use a double-sided velcro to situate the the stand so it won't be moved easily.

    For how long are prints visible on paper? I know that thermal prints don't last long.

    • @brotherhackathon9107
      @brotherhackathon9107 5 месяцев назад

      Thermal paper typically lasts about 7 to 10 years under proper storage conditions. To maximize its lifespan, it should be stored in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and high humidity, as these elements can accelerate the fading of the print. Additionally, it's best to avoid contact with plasticizers, which can be found in certain types of plastics and vinyls, as they can degrade the thermal coating on the paper.

    PT-P910BT is the only Brother Cube series printer that comes with USB-C. PT-P300BT and PT-P710BT are both micro USB. In brother website all the pictures are avoiding the view of the Micro USB cable port. Under specification they only mentioned "USB" without telling whether it is micro or type-C. This product series were released back in 2017, at that time Micro USB was not fully extinct yet.

    awesome. I've got a pj663 which i use for tattoo stencils, but have a stack of 4x6" fanfold labels I'd like to print onto as well. This video gives me hope - haven't figured out a way to mess with the settings (have MacBook and an android phone, so have tried all the apps possible) and get reliable prints yet... Will do some more tinkering but any suggestions would be much appreciated. So far I got one label printed, not even sure how, but the text came out very light despite density set to 10...

    • @brotherhackathon9107
      @brotherhackathon9107 2 года назад

      I will make a video to print on fanfold paper. It is actually quite simple because you have a MacBook. To do so: 1) install PJ622 driver if you haven't done so, super easy, 2 minutes, 2) add PJ622 printer from your system preference, 3) pick an image to print and select PJ622 from the printer list, 4) from Paper Size, choose Manage Custom Sizes, click + to create a new size, and set paper size 4W 6H, and 01" for all margins, click OK to save it, 5) now it is important to click Scale to Fit and Print Entire Image, and set to Portrait Orientation, 6) Click Preview tap and select Printer Features, density 6 is good enough, disable 2-ply mode, set to fixed page, and HALFTONE is important. Set to for logo and text (Binary) if you are print black and white shipping label. Or set to Error Diffusion/Dither. For your fanfold paper, I would recommend to tear a few labels and print one at a time. With the label size down, insert the label in portrait orientation, the edge against the left of the printer guide. It should be really dark. I am not sure why your printout being very light. Please share me your settings and the type of AC Adapter you are using (i.e. 12V vs 15V, 2A, 3A, 4A, or 5A, etc.). I have tested on Brother original PA-AD-600, PA-AD-600a, the generic Ablegrid 15V 4A ($15), and the super cheap 15V 2A from a household appliance.

      HPRT MT800 uses thermal transfer. It is not a thermal direct printer. Thermal transfer requires cartridge with film that ink is transferred to your regular paper. Yet, thermal direct, as is with Brother PocketJet printers, require no cartridge. However, with thermal direct, you need to use the thermal paper. With PJ, you will never have to buy any cartridge, or ink, etc. The print will never fade either. FYI, a thermal printer is rated for 164,000 pages. That is a lot of pages without ink. • @brotherhackathon9107
      @brotherhackathon9107 2 года назад

      You are welcome. Brother PT-P910BT is their top-of-the-line P-touch printer. The resolution is 360dpi. Their PT-P710BT's resolution is 300dpi, which is also pretty good. The consumer version PT-P300BT is only 180dpi, which surprisingly is also decent. If you need to print to a variety of P-touch tapes, from 6mm to 36mm, this is the only printer that can do the job. One more thing, for you to get the 360dpi, you obviously need to have the source that is at least 360dpi. If your image for example, is only 100 dpi, then the output will be only 100 dpi. Also, whatever the app you were using, see if there is a setting that allows you to choose the highest resolution. If that is too much information, just enjoy the printer and almost everything comes out should look good. :)

      My pleasure to help. Regarding custom logos from vector/svg files, it depends on the app you are using. The printer will print any png/jpg/pdf files via most apps. Your app most likely will have to convert them to PNG file. As a reminder, this is a single color print. For best result, you will convert it to black/white, preferably solid color. Yes, it is compatible with all TZe, P-touch tapes. You can even print to the Embellish ribbons.

I set up mine using the simple one-touch WPS method so I don't have to mess around with a Windows PC. Once it is connected, you can print. Perhaps yours was used and had been configured by the previous owner. I believe there was an instruction on how to reset the printer. You can also follow the instruction on page 52 showing you how to print the printer information settings, including your current WiFi IP address. I haven't touched the RJ4040 for a long time. It should work. You can call Brother support and they are very nice people. But you may not have the warranty as this printer is obsolete. My suggestion is to be patient, read the manual carefully, and I am 99% sure yours printer will work. $100 new is a good deal. You don't need the battery to run. But you do need the AC adapter to turn on the printer of course. If it still fails, you should get your 30-day Ebay warranty. Lastly, as much as I like this printer, Brother has discontinued the model and it could be frustrating setting up this printer if you are unfamiliar with it.

      About the OTG USB cable. It is actually quite simple and inexpensive. You cannot find any more information on Brother website either. Here are some more information: 1. Micro USB Male to USB 2.0 Female OTG Adapter Cable. So you connect the Micro USB Male to your smartphone, and the regular USB cable that came with the printer to the USB 2.0 Female end. I bought a pack of 3 from Amazon for $8. The link is here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YOX4JU6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_titleie=UTF8&psc=1 2. Micro USB Male To printer Cable. This will eliminate the need for the original USB cable. Again, plug in the Micro USB Male to your Android smartphone, and plug in the USB Printer end to your printer. It is about $8 each, also from Amazon. However, I have not tested it yet. I was using the method #1 above. Again, it is for Android device only. Remember iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad do not have any USB. You must use WiFi or Bluetooth to connect, only QL-1110NWB model supports these connection methods. Of course, you can always connect to your computer.

      (you asked on another video post, so I copied and pasted my answer here) You can use either PJ773 or PJ763MFi. The former is a WiFi version and the latter is a Bluetooth version. WiFi advantages: 1) everyone on the network can print to this printer, 2) the iPad and the printer can be more than 50 ft away, or as long as they can be reached via WiFi, 3) WiFi version prints a little faster, and 4) you can use AirPrint. The Bluetooth advantages: 1) easy setup via bluetooth, 2) you are the only one who can access to the printer once it is connected between your iPad and the printer. One's advantages are usually the other's disadvantages. If I am a road warrior, I will choose the PJ763MFi. If I am using it mostly in a big office where I move around a lot (from room to room), I will choose the PJ773, which is WiFi version. Keep in mind that Brother has a PJ763 version, which is Bluetooth but for Android only. The PJ763MFi will work on both iOS and Android.

    This is my setup: 1) MacBook connected to a PJ663 via USB, 2) install the driver for the PJ663, downloaded from Brother website, 3) generate any images with 4" wide and whatever height, calculate the height based on 300 dpi. For example, 20 inches will be 6000 dpi, your image information can tell you the height, 4) when print from your MacBook, select custom paper size, and set width and height accordingly. I would recommend that you test your "custom" print with a much smaller image, such as a 4" x 12" small banner. Also, when you insert the DK-2246, let it stick out a little more, open the front cover, adjust the label to flush to the left so it will print straight. When done printing, feed the paper a little more and cut it with scissors manually. Don't yank it out or tear it.
