The distortion, the missconseption and the lack of understanding are the 3 main factors preventing people from understanding why mk1 is such a great success. Out of the main three mk1 is outselling them. And thats without taking in consideration that it lunched a few months after sf6 and in a very unfinish state. If we evaluate the moneys worth of each year one season pass. Everyone would notice that mk1 is far superior. Sf6 is protected by its false "aura of perfection" takken 8 is the ignored litle brother that noone cares for and very litle need to be said about the colosal mk1. The power house, AKA the focal point, the hightest standard , "THE JUDGE" the game is a magnet!!! A money maker, i mean think aout it. Play it, sell it, talk obut it and you make money! Now the problem is that some idiot spread the rumor that the game was bad, which it is not and the stupid people believe it! Now nobody is satisfy. This is the best MK game since UMK3 in my opinion. But you fools fail to see it. Everyone is comming back to this game eventually. Mark My Words!
I bought this game and it freaking sucks. Just because people got bait and switched and bought a bad product doesn’t mean they will use it. They see the numbers. No one plays this dinosaur sized dookie.
Maybe the decision to have 'KAMEO' was the start of its downfall. But also, what was the point of having ketchup and mustard being genderbend? We have them as cameos, did they need to be the main focus in the DLC?
Braindead people can obviously NOT realize that the decision for the Kameos was probably taken after YEARS of crying for different MK characters. So, NRS had a great idea to insert some less popular characters in the game like Motaro, Sareena, etc., who would otherwise NEVER make it. Of course, the stupid crowd of morons immediately started to complain, because they have no idea what they want, just like spoiled children in pre-puberty age.
The more "Mortal Kombat" keeps going, the more it'll get Worse and Worse with a lot of Content getting Cut, Base Character Roster keeps getting Smaller and the Story is gonna keep getting more Convoluted by Corporate Interference, We're in a Era where Modern Gaming is always gonna keep getting Half Cooked (like a plate full of just Rice where there is no Meat and Beans on it).
Having SBI is more like a money laundering operation at this point for a studio like NRS. They already have people in their company like the ones in SBI, so asking for more is kind of redundant.
Haven’t seen anyone mention a few smaller factors. 1. MK1 was sandwiched between two arguably better fgs. 2. Those two games did a lot to appeal to new players, and had less problems on release. 3. Knowing that half of the PlayStation players are on ps4, not releasing on ps4 was stupid.
But Tekken 8 is a PS5 only game as well but then again it took them what, 9 years in between games and started releasing teasers 2 years before it's release. They do a lot to appease players and if something is wrong, if sales are down a little bit, they don't quit at the first sign of struggle, they try to find the problem and fix it. That's how their games stay alive 8-9 years at a time. This new WBD doesn't seem like they're interested in trying to fix issues and give players what they want. They're just trying to squeeze their customers dry.
@ I say MK1 specifically, since it had a weaker audience on pc. They also released it on the switch. SF6 was released on ps4. They were at 4 million sales for a while. I don’t know where T8 is, but they aren’t stopping support, so good job. MK was supposed to carry WB, but they made multiple bad decisions. It’s kinda expected once you look up basic dlc prices and grinding for unlockables. Still not fixing bugs 2 months in, is a sign. A dlc bundle being awful and $50 is an even worse sign. I don’t think MK1 did anything to appeal to new players. The others added simple mode for the most casual gamers. I don’t think I heard them say new players much. I guess the obvious story mode, but that ain’t actually for new players. Just waiting for the day all the details come out about NRS’s experience with WB.
I gotta give em' a little credit for bringing guest characters into the mix. But what they did to the femme fatales of MK 11 and MK1 is unforgivable. I'll never forgive them for that. Ya hear?! NEVER!!!!!!😡
The fact that there isnt 1 dev at NRS who looked at this game or characters like genderbent Sektor and Cyrax and didnt say "UHHHHH hey guys, The fans aren't gonna like this" is what went wrong. I bet you my entire life, ALL the devs and artist at NRS legit thought they were cookin with MK1. NRS and Ed Boon have successfully cultivated a studio where the last thing that matters, is what the fans want. What matters to NRS first, is what NRS wants and what NRS likes. And what NRS likes is extreme leftism and modernity.
What went wrong? *EVERYTHING!* From the Kameo system to the story to the rewritten characters to Mileena & Tanya being overly gay to Tayna being fully black to ugly women and so forth MK1 is dead in the water man
@ and yours is pathetic Praising for garbage like this That’s how low and sorry you are Mortal Kombat deserves its fate, and you will be butthurt over it
@@doh4828 and you’re a retard for being a shill for SBI trash like this. What’s sad is how much you shill for DEI/SBI garbage like MK1, well guess what, MK1 is dead in the water and you will be butthurt about it

Mannnnn Mortal Kombat 1 was sooooo boring. I have NEVER been bored by an MK game. I mainly play for the story and I was so bored by the main campaign that I didn't even finish it. MKX was meh, and MK11 was borderline trash. This franchise is COOKED.
M1K was simply a bad product. Before even talking about DEI, the game launched incomplete and broken, and NRS was extremely slow in talking to yhe community and addressing those issues. With T8's Heat System and SF6's Drive System, I thought M1K's Kameos System to be the least interesting. I never asked for an assist game, I wanted a 1v1 game. Players managed to figure out the game far too quickly, with the majority looking especially incomplete without Kameos. The story has been rebooted a second time, and the ending went the multiverse route. And then there is the DLC, especially the price charged for what we get. The uglification of Tanya or genderswapping Cyrax and Sektor into girlbosses amplify what was already a trash product.
i want to had a totally different perspective then my other post. I see NRS does the same as Bandai Namco tekken 8. They BET big on the franchise to RECOUP other cost from other failed properties and they smother us with microtransactions. WB said at an investor meeting they knew they could stay afloat with Mortal Kombat. So they drench the game with TONS of monetization opportunity to try and grab as much cash as possible but gamers are getting tired of that. Tekken 8 almost lost me with the Genmaji temple fiasco but they came back with an apology, free winter stage and 500 currency as a ''were sorry''. It doesnt forgive everything but its better then WB ever did
Yeah, namco also did themselves a solid in losing a lot of people. especially with what you named and recently DBZ which is their best selling game this year and in awhile.
I stopped caring for MK at 10. Sorry but I like my sexy women..Thats why Soul calibur has always been my preferred fighting game. Hopefully they nail it with a 7th game.
We’re as 11 was when the story & writing got really rocky to put it lightly. That and also Sindel’s awkward dominatrix villain phase she went through. And not gonna lie her line she say's to Johnny after beating him in the Aftermath DLC was honestly pretty gross.
@@NIGHTMARE.ONLINE I wouldn't say trash but 100% MKX was a great game and I really also liked the system of 3 variations per character. I think it was good and added a bit of depth to some characters giving players at least 1 variation where they could like them more. Then, for some reason, they scrapped all of that and made my boy, Kotal, paralyzed. ...in the universe where people resurrect left and right and characters lose their arms and get robo ones.
Comments like this are hard for me to express but you are 100% correct. The genderbending of the Ketchups 😂 took me out of the game. Maybe if they were prettier and in thongs 🤔
The mulitversal story the race and gender swaps the kameo system the over priced dragon store items the lack of content, life long fan of mk and the next game im probably gonna wait and see after this shit show
For me, it was mainly the Kameo fighters. The game is missing its signature darkness, and it didn't sit well with me that Kuai Liang is Scorpion now. Also, i hate that cyrax and Sector aren't cyborgs and just have suits. oh also, the silly Scorplao stuff, ugh. For me, at least, if we are going to switch up the characters, then the characters should still be the characters, but just give them a different backstory. The combos are tooooo long, and no run ability makes closing gaps look silly with constant short steps. I've also always hated guest characters. I just want more MK characters. The game loses its identity a little for every guest character introduced.
IMHO? MK12 (I don't like calling it "MK1" the OG MK was released in 1992) was just boring. MK11 wasn't good, but it stayed in ppl's minds because of its various controversies. This game had some of the usual drama (Tanya's new look, Female Sektor and Cyrax) but nothing really stuck. I can't speak on it as a player, but as an observer and a klassic MK fan, the game held no interest to me, not even to complain about. As for Ghostface, meh, don't care, not a fan of horror films. As for him "not fitting" in the series, I mean, Johnny is an actor. Him surviving as long as he has is absurd as well. At least Sonya and Jax are military, and Kano is a criminal used to living a dangerous life.
IMO looking from outsider perspective , and as Asian . MK in general kinda look bland to me , especially design wise , nothing special about it except the fatality . More bland than Street Fighter ( and i thought Street Fighter is already pretty bland ), and especially bland when compare to something like Granblue , Guilty Gear or Tekken . So I would imagine the game is mostly popular in the west , when compare to other fighting game . Even SNK fighting game like KoF feels like it has more identity and more popular here on Asia side .
Nah I hope not. Woke-tal Kombat is better off dead unless the original creators of MK( Midway team) comes back, claims the franchise again and takes the game back to its roots.
Personally, when I heard order and chaos realms talk I stopped caring. Hated that arc and it's chars for most part. Still playing 11 myself. Ps think the woke stuff is a cop out complaint, they aren't shoving it down throats and kung was gay in mix no one cared
@@LUAN_JAGUAR - WB has the final say. I feel Netherealm studio is better off leaving WB and find another studio department that lets them do their innovation freely.
Yup you are spot on my brotha. I loved MKX, Inhjustice 2, and MK11. IJ2, and Mk11 were chock full of content at launch and I still play both to this day. I paid $100 for MK1 at launch for PC and was disappointed out the gate with its lack of content and focus on high priced cosmetics rather than giving a good amount of free cosmetics along with the dlc such as IJ2, and MK11. What made it worse was lack of Towers of Time as something else to do. The horrid Invasion mode to this day was a joke if a mode and made the game not worth playing for a casual like myself. Compounded with the gender swaps of Cyrax and Sector! Why?! There are already a large amount of awesome women in the game. Talk about shooting your game in the foot. Ugh!
I've playing Mk since the arcade days saving up my coins for the tournament. And honestly its refreshing hearing the opinions from someone who likes deadly alliance. But as soon as i played mk1 on day 1 i knew it was no good.
Endymion is right in part but fail in the corporate side of the argument. I can't measure how many people decided to not buy the game because political ideology infestation (removing female sexualization on a M-Rated game, who allows this kind of content, is just dumb at best). I decided to not get the because of it myself. But if we consider the Black Myth Wukong extortion case as true, where SBI tried to push its service for $7 million, this extra production cost to have this kind of "service" can increase the game's selling price for sure, making more difficult for consumers to decide to get the game. Combine both cases together and see the magic happening...
There's way to many things wrong with MK1 but the ones most visceral and hit the core crowd are these : - Second reboot in a decade - From a game that wasn't as received as well from a story standpoint at least - From a game that booted the original story writers from a beloved game (MK9) to put failed comic writers because WB wanted to sell comics and movies - Sequel of a game that was DROPPED from EVO - Cannibalized a system not intended for Mortal Kombat in the first place - Reboot that supposedly tries things that are completely new but is a continuation of the previous game's storyline that nobody liked - Has multiverse shit that's very old hat and very tired by now - Had stiffer gameplay than even the previous gameplay - Has supposedly all that multiverse stuff yet it removes the swappable attacks from MK11, removes styles from MKX, doesn't even add new attacks for other characters that are adapted from other characters' movesets(Like Voltage Fighter Gowcaiser did back in the day) or do something like Xenoverse does with the special attacks - Has a distinct lack of other modes - Story is limp even without the multiverse stuff and boring - Came out during an age of overpriced games - DLC is overpriced - DLC has ideas worth exploring in a future game but instead condenses them in a 5 hour story that says nothing - Characters are extremely underwhelming, period - Lack of leadership over at NRS and lack of a solid game plan - Tried to sneakily be a live service game with extremely shitty customization, ""Raids"" and seasonal items that are killing other games like Xenoverse 2 And that's without even saying anything about the woke stuff in it. MK1 was burnt into charcoal before it was put in the oven, the wokeness just mad everyone even angrier. There was never any hope for MK1.
Not gonna lie, Wolverine and Buffy would be interesting MK DLC characters and the former would've started the first Marvel vs. DC in fighting games. Too bad Netherrealm Studios is a greedy DEI company.
I did not play much Mortal Kombat, so I have no particular favorite. But I will say that I hate games as a service. At least as a product, I will get all the content that's supposed be in the game in the disc already.
I had a love hate relationship with MK11 on Switch for the most obvious reasons, but MK1 for Switch was a slap in the face and a sh*t on my lawn. What Netherrealm committed to silicon was unforgivable. Sektor is a lot of fun though. Great Stuff!
MK: Deadly Alliance was the comeback of MK. It moved on from having fighting game bare minimums (i.e. Arcade mode, Versus mode, and options) to having expanded content that's worth investing your time in a fighting game. MK: DA - 11 were the best MK games in regards of content. You're spot on in modern wokeness being a small factor of MK1's failure. Lackluster content, overpriced costumes, priced fatalities, Disappointing Kombat Pack 2, gender swapped Cyrax and Sektor that was unnecessary, and expensive expansion with poor content and abysmal story were the bigger factors with modern wokeness being the icing on the cake. If Kombat Pack 3 were to make it, we'd had characters that should've been playable from the start and a female Sub Zero to replace Sub Zero who's now Noob Saibot.
So we're praising 11 now? It was the beginning of the wokeness, when Ed Boon defended censorship with the stupidest excuses, and normies listened to him.
- the game is an unfinished rushed mess, which was supposed to be Injustice 3. the game doesnt feel like MK - NRS going full woke, game is revised by SweetBi, company is full of snowflakes and woke activists. game is full of DEI, it has become Woke-tal Kombat - instead of die hard fans, they chose to focus on they/them community which arent even fans of the gaming, and that blue Gae furry - terrible story, character designs, ugly customization, awful costumes. gendswap characters. story is a child level joke. marvel multiverse BS - no mode, no kontent. no 1 v 1 style classic fighting. forced kameos. forced invasions
The discourse of MKX up to now made me stop playing these games and definitely the micro transaction decisions. To a point where I now question whether or not this was even a good franchise in the first place. And that is not a good thing you want a former MK fan to think. But yeah, I'm pretty much done with the series. And probably won't ever touch another MK ever til my final days on Earth.
What made me gave up on the MK series is that fact that some of the features like Crypt that used to be offline is online only. The monitization is getting ridiculous to the point they are charging for fatalities. They cut allot of content from previous games. To me the wokeness has little to do with it. WB is just as bad as Ubisoft and EA, the fact that they want to do more live service for everyone of their games makes me not want to buy it.
Mortal Kombat 2011 is still my favorite as well. I didn't get much into MK X because at the time I didn't owned an Xbox One. Now when Mortal Kombat 11 was announced I was hyped, but as soon I saw the females all covered up I came to the conclusion something is wrong here. I played it for a while but I just couldn't get into it. I decided to give Mortal Kombat one last chance with MK 1 and it failed miserably. The characters especially the females looked worse, I didn't like the cameo system, too many guest characters, the story was a mess that I didn't even bothered getting the expansion. It's sad what Mortal Kombat has become.
I think the best Mortal Kombat was Mk Deception because of the gameplay, music, story, roster, and conquest. But Mk11 was what made me drop out because I spent so much money buying Dlc and felt they nerfed the base game for future updates. Not to mention the story got inconsistent/repetitive and the costumes got more generic after Mk9(which had some very simple yet colorful designs that I liked, but they're afraid to go back to that when they did Mk11). So Mk1 I mostly played it by ear and once they drop everything I "might" consider it.
Graphically it's looks alright, I personally wasn't a fan of the "Kameo" system and finding out that they made everyone look ugly beforehand and then finding out the ending was literally just an MCU multiverse ending i was like "yeah MK is dead", plus no crossplay ON LAUNCH
Totally agree with your video. MK 1 represents everything wrong on the video game industry today. Yes political agenda on this game is the number one culprit that automatically pushed away thousands of clients. With that said, if the game was addictive at least in term of gameplay and content, respecting the players with content they would like to see, MK 1 would have stayed alive. But no, what WB and NR did instead was asking players to stay by asking more money for things that nobody asked, they killed the game. Hope they learned and be an example for the industry that expensive graphics and Hollywood wannabe trash wont save any game. Great video!
The cracks formed after MK10. Once they start de-sexualizing the female characters. That was a red flag to me. MK11 was obvious, nothing much to say. MK: progressive edition……you can smell the stench of failure. That reveal trailer giving me all the bad juju. Too colorful, all young, it wasn’t mortal kombat at all. Then the assist mechanic….dumbest thing possible. Then the mobile monetization, the paid fatalities, lack of defensive options, listening to only e-sport players to improve the game. Those “streams” to get excited only to release wet farts. So much I can say, but the damage is done. I view MK1 now as the stable for the lgbt. I can’t see it any other way. It got its balls cut and it’s a shell of itself. The long yearly fight to change MK. They won, now look at it. No one wants to touch this franchise. Edit: 11 mins in. That’s easy, STreet Fighter, Tekken. Their core gameplay never changed. Just add on a new mechanic onto their core foundation. Mortal kombat changes every installment, forces you to relearn time and again. Typing this edit as I paused thy video.
As a big Mortal Kombat fan, my issues with the franchise started with MKX. The guest character trend feels overdone and takes up slots that could have been used for classic MK characters. On top of that, the double standards in character design are frustrating-female characters lose their iconic, sexy outfits for “modesty,” while male characters run around shirtless. It feels unbalanced. The MK1 port for the Nintendo Switch was particularly disappointing-a lazy cash grab with terrible performance. The gameplay itself has also lost its charm; it’s no longer as fun or engaging, bogged down by grinding and mobile game-inspired systems that feel overwhelming rather than rewarding. I miss the simplicity and depth of the Krypt. The time travel and multiverse themes have been played out to exhaustion. MK used to feel mysterious, dark, and gory, but now it’s overly bright and spoon-feeds every detail about the characters’ backstories. The sense of intrigue and mystique that made the series special is gone-sometimes, less is more. Overall, it feels like Mortal Kombat has lost its soul, and that’s heartbreaking for longtime fans like me.
Started the series in Deadly Alliance, but had to drop the series at 11 due to gameplay. Maybe there is a chance for NRS to turn things around, but I really don't think that WB would allow them to without a huge cost/sacrifice for more sells.
That's a shame even though I play so little fighting games I still follow them It's a shame to see such a long-standing franchise just lose with the general audience
Interestingly this game is more mod friendly that any previous game, but for some reason, I guess because of the engine or the graphics they use, no matter how explicit or nsfw your mods are they still look extremely uncanny.
simple. 1. Political reasons. well its Woke-tal Kombat now, made by a Left Activists tronny, and revised by SweetBI 2. Absolutely worst story. Abandoning MK lore, turning it into Marvel Multiverse 3. Terrible character designs and customization, changing character origins even gendswapping some of them 4. Awful gameplay, no 1v1 mode without asists 5. No content other than Invasion BS and mostly, they dont care about long life fans, their target audience is they/them cult now, and their -posterboy- poster they/them is some furry
The kameos idea was actually a good idea, but they implemented it very poorly, it should’ve also been a separate mode, no offline content and the online got boring after 3-4 months, i wasn’t happy with the movelists and the character design was mostly a downgrade from mk11, so many kameo characters but they don’t feel like they give a big change to the gameplay like they presented it, story was cool at the beginning then it went downhill, music and soundtracks aren’t as good as old mk’s… Personally it was a flop for me, atleast after the honeymoon phase
Man I stopped at this one I didn’t even bother with the expansion, I was going to wait and buy it, but I’m glad I didn’t because after those reviews and what I saw I just said forget it. If there is another Mortal Kombat, I will most likely sit it out. This has been the biggest letdown I’ve seen yet for this franchise. The one thing for me though is that this game has gotten far from legacy. It stopped being the game that it once was
Mk1 is so bad I couldn't even play it full year, from the Kameo system & the price Tag for the DLC & also there's no 1 single attractive female character + the gender swapping that happened to Sektor and Cyrax is crazy to me, unlike SF6 they have good DLC price Tag + attractive female character 🤜🍑 + no gender swapping
6:40 the part you're missing is, when ideologically compromised people make games, they tend to end up being bad in other areas as well because their focus is pushing their political agenda over pushing entertainment value for the consumer. thats how we end up with poorly written female characters (affecting the writing) gender swapped characters (affecting fanservice) we get devs lashing out at the community by blocking & blacklisting anyone critical of the game (Dynasty & MK Tom Brady) which leads to a culture of toxic positivity. ed boon abandoning free speech platforms like X to move too the notoriously woke & censorous Bluesky where he only gets to hear "positive" opinions about MK. a culture of wokeness & toxic positivity leads to creators glazing the game even when they do wrong (Kenny Bomb, Unrooolie) which leads to bad/overpriced DLC (Khaos Reigns) which game us half the content of MK11's expansion but cost $20 more. lets not just discount the effects of wokeness just because (based on how you look) you're most likely liberal. lets call a spade a spade. wokeness is what led to that cringe Jax "slavery" ending in MK11. woke culture is affecting MK in all areas from top to bottom & frankly wokeness is ruining the franchise.
This game can be saved if they give the people what they've been asking for, not make these grinds tedious and decrease these prices on DLC and premium content. Premium skins that can be earned, skin packs that can be earned. WB shouldn't of been surprised that people weren't biting on KR with a $50 price tag which I think was nearly as much as the game itself at the time for half the content. It should've been sold cheaper so that it can attract more customers which means more money. Games are already expensive as it is for the PS5, expecting them to pay $50 for an expansion DLC is kinda insane. It should've been $35-40. Then they were giving people characters they didn't really ask for. Why are we getting the T-1000 after we just got a terminator in the last game? Who asked for Conan? Who asked for a genderbent iron woman version of Cyrax and Sektor? Nobody asked for any of these things. So you can say half of these characters in the KP most fans didn't even ask for. Was it to fill the lack of female fighter quota in KP1? They could've just given us Jade and Cassie/Sonya instead of a genderbent iron woman rip-off of Sektor and Cyrax if they were going to go that way. They could've given us a different guest like The Bride from Kill Bill (first ever female guest which people have been asking for) and Micheal Myers finally. That would've been a better KP than the one we've gotten. Don't change the status quo and expect people to be ok with it.
They seem to release the game one or two year before it's final form... Rumors said MK11 was planned to have a 2nd expansion. They cancelled it for prepare MK1. Did you see the result ?
It’s really not a mystery. Street Fighter tried this shit with the base game of SF 5. I was so mad when I bought that. No single player features at all. Shit roster. Graphics marginally better than 4. I was furious. They turned things around after the expansions, but I was absolutely pissed at the base game. MK 1 did the same thing. No Krypt? Why?!? Another reboot? Why?!? Shitty roster… it’s the same damn thing. It’s like game companies always gotta fuck around before they find out.
In my opinion MK isn't what it once was and it lost its ID. It use to set trends, now it follows them. It was never afraid to push the edgy, now it's safe. It's fallen behind Tekken and Street Fighter. Wokeness is just one of the aspects. From what I hear from fans, I know they had retcon to the story, messy story, ugly characters, bad monetization, etc.
Messed up naming that trash MK1 when there is already an MK1 to begin with. Some of us knew what they were attempting to do with that and thats what you get linking up with WB. Personally MK has been weak for some time now.
IMO the reason why MK1 failed is because the MK formula (or at least the movelist) kept changing. Street Fighter has been around since the late 80s Tekken has been around since the early 90s and the only similarity that the 2 games have in common is that the movelist have not changed. Sure SF has different mechanics and Tekken has added more moves to its roster but it’s nothing you need to re learn. MK tries to do everytHing at once trying to appeal to everyone as well as set itself apart from other fighters where as tekken and SF built its fanbase. Also mention that fighters is a dying genre as is.
Having DLC to add to a game story is fine/whatever, but the story itself should not need it. The DLC should only be a addition to a complete package that covers smaller things that maybe the main game can't/couldn't cover without messing with the pacing Like Jetstream's Sam own.
My boi got the “heeeeyyyyyy yawwwwwww” Andre 3000 cut. Ol a pimp named slick back lookin ahhh. Money mike from Friday after next lookin ahh. How you big perm and money mike at the same time?! 😂😂😂
My good man, I think wokeness actually is the main factor why these games are failing, I will explain. 👍 - Some videos from SmashJT, AndyPants and EndimionTV provide evidence from people actually working in the industry. These individuals say that companies that embrace DEI work ethics, actually end up making the work place a very toxic environment. - Staff/workers cannot communicate with each other without walking on eggshells to not offend anybody and having the situation get to HR. - Out of fear of loosing their jobs, they cannot criticize bad writing or character design because those are usually tied to a "inclusive" character in the story, or inclusive staff. Critisizing it will raise suspicion amongst crew and may make others feel uncomfortable. - These companies are making bold and nonsensical business practices, and they have it all planned out that if they do it while hiding behind DEI, they already have the right-away to shut down any criticism of those practices. They can flip it around and say "I'm just trying to help marginalized groups, why do you hate that?" which is why they LOVE wielding DEI and sensitive issues as a sword and shield. Tekken and Street fighter were smart, they added the DEI practices to a reasonable extent, and likely don't embed it in their work environment (by that I mean not adding DEI to a toxic extent.) They too know if they were to go overboard like western studios, they would be brought down as well lol.
Keep true to the legacy, respect the players, ignoring the Modern audience, and make a game thats fun and have non-DEI females you get money. This used to be the standard so just a decent fun game at this point with these qualities is enough to make double or triple the profit at this point.
MK used to be edgy, and anti establishment. A bit like the leftists of the 90s. Now both support the establishment, and mainstream media talking points. They became the establishment and lost their cool factor
I'm sick of ppl calling everything that is non WT woke. Most ppl don't know what that word mean .Even the ruckus ,and Clayton Bigsby don't know what that word mean
MK has been having various issues since at least X. It all has been going in a down spiral and chipping away at the players good faith little by little. From problems with the story to changes in their business model and recently their lots and lots of bugs and performance issues.
Selling characters caught up with them and then going woke really pushed things over the edge. They have been on this shit since MKX. I remember the kombat kast. There was a dude who started wearing dresses on it and makeup. It was strange. I checked out after that. I realized if they have that going on, I can guarantee they're more focused on wasting resources on politics and gender ideology rather than making the best product they can.
When you ignore the fan base and cater to the fighting championship community, you lose the original fans that got you to Mortal Kombat 12, and then once the fighting tournaments are over, they move on to another game while the casual and hard-core fans are left with a crappy story and just enough changes to characters and back stories that piss off the fans of the lore. This does not and has not felt like a genuine Mortal Kombat game to me.
It should be said that MK1's failure is relative. It sold more copies than SFVI, but compared to MK11, i.e. the highest-selling fighting game of the 21st century, it can be classed as a failure.

The more "Mortal Kombat" keeps going, the more it'll get Worse and Worse with a lot of Content getting Cut, Base Character Roster keeps getting Smaller and the Story is gonna keep getting more Convoluted by Corporate Interference,
We're in a Era where Modern Gaming is always gonna keep getting Half Cooked (like a plate full of just Rice where there is no Meat and Beans on it).
I'm gonna stick with classic MK for SNES, SEGA, N64, PS1, PS2, PS3 and MK X and XL for PS4

This is why NRS shouldn't have SBI involved. And Let me not forget bad writers!
Great point!

Mannnnn Mortal Kombat 1 was sooooo boring. I have NEVER been bored by an MK game. I mainly play for the story and I was so bored by the main campaign that I didn't even finish it. MKX was meh, and MK11 was borderline trash. This franchise is COOKED.
Mk1’s mechanics felt more like a shotty rip off of what KOF 99 evolution did with it’s striker system
It's just an ugly game, I found it very boring to me. I'm excited for Vice & Mature's release & City of the Wolves.
mk1 is just an ugly game. just look at the characters esp the female leads, smh.
One of the many reasons why people choose 'Street Fighter 6' over 'Mortal Kombat 1 (2023)' when voting for Best Fighting Game of 2023.
MK9 & MKX were the last two good Mortal Kombat games that enjoyed my time with. I was most satisfied with those two as is.
i want to had a totally different perspective then my other post.

Trash opinion. Mkx was a great game.

@@ChristianFrates1997 That's the fact JACK
More bland than Street Fighter ( and i thought Street Fighter is already pretty bland ),
and especially bland when compare to something like Granblue , Guilty Gear or Tekken .
So I would imagine the game is mostly popular in the west , when compare to other fighting game .
Even SNK fighting game like KoF feels like it has more identity and more popular here on Asia side .
Yeah, SNK has some of the great fighting games like Samsho, Fatal Fury, KOF, Last Blade, etc.
True. Keep in mind the original MK became a thing because of the

Will NetherRealm Studios turn things back around with their next entry into the series?
Nah I hope not. Woke-tal Kombat is better off dead unless the original creators of MK( Midway team) comes back, claims the franchise again and takes the game back to its roots.
Highly doubt it, a lot Western Developers would rather double down on stupid and go bankrupt. Rather than see the error of their ways.

MK FANS :THIS GAME IS BORING
Most of the mk1 characters are boring.
There's way to many things wrong with MK1 but the ones most visceral and hit the core crowd are these :
- Second reboot in a decade
- From a game that wasn't as received as well from a story standpoint at least
- From a game that booted the original story writers from a beloved game (MK9) to put failed comic writers because WB wanted to sell comics and movies
- Sequel of a game that was DROPPED from EVO
- Cannibalized a system not intended for Mortal Kombat in the first place
- Reboot that supposedly tries things that are completely new but is a continuation of the previous game's storyline that nobody liked
- Has multiverse shit that's very old hat and very tired by now
- Had stiffer gameplay than even the previous gameplay
- Has supposedly all that multiverse stuff yet it removes the swappable attacks from MK11, removes styles from MKX, doesn't even add new attacks for other characters that are adapted from other characters' movesets(Like Voltage Fighter Gowcaiser did back in the day) or do something like Xenoverse does with the special attacks
- Has a distinct lack of other modes
- Story is limp even without the multiverse stuff and boring
- Came out during an age of overpriced games
- DLC is overpriced
- DLC has ideas worth exploring in a future game but instead condenses them in a 5 hour story that says nothing
- Characters are extremely underwhelming, period
- Lack of leadership over at NRS and lack of a solid game plan
- Tried to sneakily be a live service game with extremely shitty customization, ""Raids"" and seasonal items that are killing other games like Xenoverse 2
And that's without even saying anything about the woke stuff in it.
I've never heard a single person claim that Tekken 8 or Street fighter 6 is woke.
I did a video with receipts
SF6 is a westernized/globalized slop for modern audience, and Reina in Tekken 8 looks like a LDP voter
I did not play much Mortal Kombat, so I have no particular favorite. But I will say that I hate games as a service. At least as a product, I will get all the content that's supposed be in the game in the disc already.
I mean sf6 is starting to go the same direction. Lack of costumes for existing characters. Adding only costumes to just the avatar character.
Avatars was the honey pot for SF6 the moment avatars were revealed. It's for the casual player base.
I agree. Games have to have quality and content, woke or not.

A moment of Silence please, in memory of Mortal Kombat..... Thank you.
I haven't played a MK game since the Super Nintendo lol I'm way out of the loop.
Guilty Gear deserves a spot in the big 3 at this point.
23 days til' Christmas
When Cyrax and Sektor came out as women it killed my potential comeback as a fan
I'm glad I skipped MK1 not only the game is bad but the Trailer itself was so misleading.
That's a shame even though I play so little fighting games I still follow them It's a shame to see such a long-standing franchise just lose with the general audience
Interestingly this game is more mod friendly that any previous game, but for some reason, I guess because of the engine or the graphics they use, no matter how explicit or nsfw your mods are they still look extremely uncanny.
simple.
1. Political reasons. well its Woke-tal Kombat now, made by a Left Activists tronny, and revised by SweetBI
2. Absolutely worst story. Abandoning MK lore, turning it into Marvel Multiverse
3. Terrible character designs and customization, changing character origins even gendswapping some of them
4. Awful gameplay, no 1v1 mode without asists
5. No content other than Invasion BS
and mostly, they dont care about long life fans, their target audience is they/them cult now, and their -posterboy- poster they/them is some furry
The kameos idea was actually a good idea, but they implemented it very poorly, it should’ve also been a separate mode, no offline content and the online got boring after 3-4 months, i wasn’t happy with the movelists and the character design was mostly a downgrade from mk11, so many kameo characters but they don’t feel like they give a big change to the gameplay like they presented it, story was cool at the beginning then it went downhill, music and soundtracks aren’t as good as old mk’s…
Personally it was a flop for me, atleast after the honeymoon phase
I spent one week on MK1 and uninstalled it. Havent touched the game since.
Sonicfox is still playing this trash
MK11 was so good to me, and everything MK1 did made me not interested in it.
@@DAVESPEPSI You're a imbecile, You know that?🤦🏿♂️
Messed up naming that trash MK1 when there is already an MK1 to begin with.
The DLC should only be a addition to a complete package that covers smaller things that maybe the main game can't/couldn't cover without messing with the pacing
Like Jetstream's Sam own.
My boi got the “heeeeyyyyyy yawwwwwww” Andre 3000 cut. Ol a pimp named slick back lookin ahhh. Money mike from Friday after next lookin ahh. How you big perm and money mike at the same time?! 😂😂😂
Look alone on the switch version how ugly make them no Single polish
My good man, I think wokeness actually is the main factor why these games are failing, I will explain. 👍
- Some videos from SmashJT, AndyPants and EndimionTV provide evidence from people actually working in the industry.
Haven't heard much of MK1 or MK in general in quite a long while. Guess my suspicions were right: This game IS cooked, lmao.
The problem is they need to buff Shang Tsung
MK is an old IP born in immature and non pc era with high age rating, only here for the WB brand...MultiVerse on the other hand.
PS5 sucks
It will never stack up to the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4
MK has been having various issues since at least X. It all has been going in a down spiral and chipping away at the players good faith little by little. From problems with the story to changes in their business model and recently their lots and lots of bugs and performance issues.
Selling characters caught up with them and then going woke really pushed things over the edge. They have been on this shit since MKX. I remember the kombat kast. There was a dude who started wearing dresses on it and makeup. It was strange. I checked out after that. I realized if they have that going on, I can guarantee they're more focused on wasting resources on politics and gender ideology rather than making the best product they can.
MK was best as an Underground Game.
Man I can't believe they wasted Ghostface on this game.
Just like Star Wars the set up was good but they didn’t follow through. They were forced by WB suits to include DEI .. went woke went broke
SF6 & Tekken 8 are Treated like Beat Sellers in Spirit.
